  1. Do away with conferences. Utilize sectionals as districts. Top 4 or 6 teams (1A-4A) from each make the playoffs (based on district standings). Playoffs feature cross sectional matchups based on seeds based on district standings. 10 game regular season. 7 district games, 3 non-district games to schedule as you choose. No formulas. No controversy. It's far fetched but it's essentially what Kentucky does molded to fit Indiana. Districts change every two years when enrollments are reclassified. Many of the sectionals are conference opponents anyway. 3 open weeks give you the opportunity to schedule a rival if they aren't in your district. You can schedule easy or tough, whichever serves your school best. It'll never pass, but this experience was the best I've ever had as a coach. I've been on both ends of the spectrum in Indiana. Having had the opportunity to see it done different, it makes no sense how Indiana does it. I don't expect many to agree, and that is fine. Just one man's opinion.
  2. It will be interesting to see if anything comes of the experiment. I feel like some other states did this as well. Maybe Iowa? I have a feeling they will return to their original playoff ways once we are back to "normal."
  3. What does Floyd have to replace and what do they return?
  4. Maybe now the rest of the conference will have a chance? 🤣 Who are we kidding? The East train will roll on no matter who they hire. I know they have some well-qualified internal candidates.
  5. Wow, we all knew the day would come eventually. Congrats on a great career and enjoy a well-deserved retirement, coach.
  6. @Frozen Tundra It has only been two years I have done it. I think you and I guess differently week one or two, then tend to agree on most the rest of the year after we figure teams out. I expect it'll be the same next year! Maybe we can get the participation rate back up to where it was as well.
  7. Very neat story. Congrats to both programs. But the southern Indiana in me has me pulling for WW. Good luck!
  8. I agree. The 8-man proposal for Indiana was also fairly recently tabled. So I do not expect such a thing any time soon. I hope it is revisited once economic situations stabilize. I also don't think it would be a bad thing for some current 11-man teams to potentially play 8-man instead. It would give them an opportunity to be more competitive.
  9. If it gives kids and schools that can't play football an opportunity to do so, who cares how many points they score? I am all for it.
  10. Regional Week Jeffersonville at Castle It's hard to believe Jeff is the last HHC team standing after the challenging season that they had. But props to them for putting it together when it mattered most. It will be a tough out against a well coached Castle program, but I've said that the last two weeks. I will keep picking against them in hoping it helps them continue to win!
  11. Regional Week West Washington at North Decatur This is a tough call. North Decatur has not been scored on in their last 7 games. You have to go back to September 18th in their loss to Milan where they gave up points. That is incredible. I think this should be a good game but I am going with the home team here in North Decatur. But I will pull for the PLAC team in WW. Good luck to all.
  12. Sectional Championship Week Salem at Southridge Perry Central at West Washington Salem is playing well. Southridge is on fire. It should be a good one.
  13. Jeffersonville at New Albany Columbus East at Center Grove Can't argue those picks, although if Jeff comes out ready like they did last week, they are very capable of pulling off the win.
  14. Final: Jeff 35, FC 28. Jeff intercepts pass at their own 16 with under a minute left to clinch it. Huge upset. They will face New Albany next week for the sectional championship.
  15. Upset special: Jeff 35, Floyd 21 10:00 remaining
  16. Sectional Week 2 Lawrenceburg at Scottsburg North Harrison at Salem Mitchell at Providence Triton Central at Paoli North Central at Perry Central Tecumseh at West Washington I think Salem is on a mission and will when the second time around against North. It should be a great game though. I think the other picks are all pretty straightforward.
  17. Sectional Week 2 (1 for 5a) Columbus East at Franklin Central Seymour at Whiteland Jeffersonville at Floyd Central I doubt there will be much debate on the picks this week!
  18. Thanks. I just copied and pasted from Harrell's site.
  19. Sectionals Week 1 East Central at Silver Creek, 7 pm Brownstown at Lawrenceburg, 7 pm Rushville at Scottsburg, 7 pm Greensburg at Charlestown, 7 pm Bosse at North Harrison, 7:30 pm Corydon at Salem, 7 pm Mitchell at Eastern, 7 pm Paoli at Clarksville, 7 pm North Posey at Crawford County, 7:30 pm Perry Central at Springs Valley, 7:30 pm West Washington at North Daviess, 7 pm There will be some great games on tap this Friday. There are definitely some coin tosses here.
  20. Sectionals Week 1 Jennings County at Martinsville Mooresville at Madison Slim pickins this week! Pretty straightforward, too.
  21. Those are all definitely some good stories.. I have to throw Silver Creek into that mix. They were a brand new program 8 years ago. They just completed their first undefeated season and conference title in school history. Naturally, they get rewarded with a 7-2 East Central visit for the first round of sectionals, but that is for another thread 😆. Congrats to Coach Papenhaus and co. 22. It seems as though we've lost a lot. We've been very fortunate to have a reasonably normal season in the midst of all the craziness this year. It's been very interesting for all. Salem/WW is always interesting. Both teams are having a great year. Good luck to both this week!
  23. This thread is not very active! Plenty of interesting happenings this year. Congrats to Silver Creek on their first ever MSC championship! Week 9 Clarksville at North Harrison Eastern at Charlestown Salem at West Washington Scottsburg at Brownstown Silver Creek at Corydon Washington at Paoli North Daviess at Springs Valley Perry Central at Mitchell Tecumseh at Crawford County
  24. Week 9 Columbus East at Madison Jeffersonville at Bedford NL New Albany at Jennings County Seymour at Floyd Central Only toss up this week looks to be Jeff/BNL.
  25. LOL I don't know about all that. This stuff can be a real crap shoot. I just don't have an allegiance to a particular team so I can be neutral in my picks. You all have to make the homer call sometimes and I get that!
