All I know is West Lafayette ranked 7th is not a fair representation of where their talent and skill sets lie. Should rename it Top 15 4a/3a and throw in 1 from 2a/1a as well 😎 -

HNAC Week #2
Coach Nowlin replied to from_the_sidelines007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
He is a HOF for reason!!! Miss our days of battles with Judson, it was great to be able to hook up with them this past summer scrimmage with them Highland and Bremen Just a fact, your week 1 is always dicey, typically speaking Even in our 2014 year, we gave up 35 points to KV, of course we scored 65, but 35 points for that state team to give up that year was odd to say the least. Settle in and got the legs under them which many teams will do this week as well. -
players choose this path and they choose when to leave this game at the highest level. They are well compensated for this choice. I blame no one for leaving the game when they want to leave the game

DTs Northern Indiana Teams of the Week
Coach Nowlin replied to a topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I think Offensively, Michigan City probably a tick behind last year because of QB loss, but they have a STUD at RB who could play some QB. Big loss for MC will be the DL and LB corps from last year. They will be a tough out no doubt. Valpo on paper probably has the edge.; Those 2 teams I bet see each other 2 times this year -

It isn't in our world at Rensselaer. I do not judge those who make their own decisions within their own programs.

Cooper Jones and that Defense for the Vikings is the TRUTH!!! Coach Jeff Phillips earned the Colts Coach of the Week. -
Correct as well, even Monday, AD and Coaches said they are not sweating it. However, if a serious injury would occur when I knowingly played a kid more than allotted number of quarters, I sure would be held liable. Listen we make do, we do not care about Wins or Losses at Freshman/JV level, our philosophy has always been getting gets reps and learn how to compete which we feel helps them mature through the program and hopefully help us on Friday nights. I just believe wholeheartedly that the quarter rule has hurt Freshman/JV teams. I feel sometimes when new rules are enacted, they are focused on the 4a and above and forget about the little guy. The quarter rule has zero affect on schools with rosters over 80 You are correct
-
Not true: Your dominating and play all you JV the entire 2nd half. They still have 4 quarters on Saturday or Monday. My issue is not Varsity to JV/Freshman It is the fact that we cannot play 5 quarters a week with our Freshman/JV teams anymore. So we played last night with 13 and will play Thursday with 14. Instead of 27 JV kids where I picked better freshman to play a quarter each.
-
I went up to the Official, stated that I was going to be putting #13 at Center for the last 8 mins of a JV game, He was ok with it, he then went to the opposing coach to let them know, they were ok with it. We moved forward to finish the game. If a kid played 8 quarters in a week that is a violation. I can tell you in my 16 years coaching JV games, when I see quarter rules broken, I do exactly NOTHING. I could care less. Not my monkey, not my circus. We at Rensselaer choose to NOT break the quarter rule.
