Take Me Out to the Ball Game
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to Gipper's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I'm so glad baseball is back. I hope the union will get behind this. I see lots of upside with the plan for this year. I think the player's union will like the 30 man rosters with possibly up to 50 (per ESPN report) Lots of chances for players to make more money...that's a win. Let's go go go go White Sox...been waiting a few years for a season like this. Ricky's boys don't quit -
JULY 1st HERE WE COME
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to Coach Nowlin's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Just found out South Bend Schools are having both summer school sessions online. Hopefully they will be working cleaning classrooms and the like. Not sure if students will be allowed in the building on July 1. -
Another reason the "MIC is KING"...
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to a topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Now if the head football coach was a department head...he would have three preps in the fall, his teaching prep, department head prep, and football coach prep. I am also assuming all the head coaching in the MIC are teachers in a building. Maybe they have lunch supervision, study hall supervision, etc...that could lead up to quite a pay day. Also before you complain about the Indy area coaches...how about some love for the Gary/Calumet/St. Joe Valley coaches -
Another reason the "MIC is KING"...
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to a topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
My concern would be not one of money, but of "perks". In South Bend, the head football coach gets one extra prep in the fall. I would assume the coaches in the MIC have the same perk. -
COVID Impact on football season
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to CoachAbe's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
South Bend has a major school funding question on this years primary ballot. Superintendent Cummings says there will be big cuts to programs that don't involve all students. Whatever that means. COVID or not...South Bend Football may have changes -
Corona and Fall Sports
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to Hoosier Hawk's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
So we test everyone every time when they enter a new environment. Example: I get a test before I enter the school building. After school I need to get gas (test), go to the grocery story (test), and get something for the family to eat (test). That's 4 tests. Who is going to pay the people doing the testing and how much training is needed. This isn't as cut and dry as it seems. What if I test negative at school and positive at the grocery store. -
Corona and Fall Sports
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to Hoosier Hawk's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
So we test all the participants needed for the game. When is this done...Friday Morning? Then you will have to test for all the other games in the same manner. Then you have to test fans for admittance. Who will administer the test? Can't test if it isn't 100% reliable. Too many if's in that senario -
Lets End this RPO Madness
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to a topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I guess that Tom Brady should have been washed up years ago...not able to execute the RPO, even in his prime years. She should have went with the times. What a waste -
Corona and spring sports
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to gopher2's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Flattening the curve means that they wish to slow down the rate...which means it will be around longer. Let's say that summer school is canceled in buildings and"normal" activity can't occur until August 1. When could you realistically start the season. You can't assume your players have been staying in shape. -
Lets End this RPO Madness
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to a topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I bet someone back in the day had a "Let's end the Single Wing Madness" thread by those still in favor of the flying wedge offense -
I think we are considering the wrong approach. In 2007 the Kernan-Shepherd report offered a suggestion that all school districts should have at least 2000 students. I know one of you computer geniuses would be able to fine that part of the report for all to see. I think it is a great idea and a better use of resouces. For football...there would be the consolidation without regard to athletics
-
From an economic view...that would be the correct thing to do...house them at LaSalle (former high school)
-
Ignoring a negative behavior takes tremendous discipline. They are all debated the wrong side of that topic anyway. The question should be directed to the Kernan-Shephard report where they recommend that school districts have more that 2000 students...a better use of facilities.

e-practice
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to LaSalle Lions 1976's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I guess I was referring more to sessions over Google Meet or something similar to go over new schemes or review plays -
I am just curious...since we are now on e-learning for the near future...it is legal to have e-practice sessions during this time. If it is...how would that be montiorted

Turf 2020 and Beyond
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to btownqbcoach's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
With our current health situation and past history of infections supposedly cause by turf, what do schools need to do to get their turf in shape for next season (I would assume there is someone here who is an expert on turf management). -
Corona and spring sports
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to gopher2's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
No school until May 1. I wonder if they will just cancel spring sports altogether. How sad. -
Head Coaches areas of profession?
LaSalle Lions 1976 replied to jets's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I co-taught with a head coach in a Special Ed Life Skills classroom. In addition to the teaching duties, he had to do IEPs, student surveys, OT/PT consultations, and any issues regarding his Teacher of Record kids. I tried to help him as much as I could in the fall. In the spring, there was too much work for me to be of much help to him. He did a tremendous job considering all that was on his plate. -
So DI colleges are taking away opportunities because of PWOs...ha So all PWOs have an excellent chance of playing minutes for the school...ha Does it look good on a resume that you were a PWO in school...I would think I do wonder how many PWOs chance their major so they have a better chance of playing on the team... Parents are a big influence in encouraging fiscal responsibility to their children... I know the GID members encourage fiscal responsibility in young people as well

I think the bigger problem for many school is the lack of opportunities for many of the smaller and poorer school districts. A good way to equalize this would be to follow the recommendation of the Kernan-Shepherd report which suggests that all school cooperations have at least 2000 to 4000 students per corporation. This will help to equalize resources and opportunities for all. Maybe back to three class football...who knows.
