I would characterize AG Rokita as a politician looking for a cause. His tenure as AG has been highlighted by: Getting slapped from pillar to post by every federal judge who looks at these unconstitutional abortion laws the General Assembly keeps passing. Unsuccessfully went to court to try and keep the Governor from filing a lawsuit on his own. Now investigating whether Valparaiso University — which was so incompetent they had to close their law school because no one would go to it — is in league with Chinese Communists in order to influence the minds of Hoosiers. He’s either a whack job, or desperately seeking a springboard to higher office — or both.

Cuomo, 63, said he was motivated to step down to avoid months of distraction for the state, which is continuing to deal with the Covid pandemic, from an all-but-certain impeachment of him over allegations he sexually harassed at least 11 women. “Given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to government,” Cuomo said. “And therefore that is what I’ll do, because I work for you, and doing the right thing, is doing the right thing for you.” While continuing to deny some of the more serious claims against him, Cuomo conceded he had offended some of his accusers with what he considered friendly or incidental physical contact and comments that were normal for men of his generation. “In my mind, I have never crossed the line with anyone,” he said. “But I didn’t realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn.” “Thank you for letting me serve you. It has been the honor of a lifetime,” Cuomo said. “God bless you.” Hochul, a Buffalo Democrat who will turn 63 this month, in a tweet, said “I agree with Governor Cuomo’s decision to step down. In a CBS News interview that aired Monday, Cuomo executive assistant Brittany Commisso described how the governor had groped her breast in one incident, and then rubbed her rear end during another encounter in the Executive Mansion in Albany after he suggested they take a selfie photo together. “What he did to me was a crime. James, in a statement Tuesday after Cuomo announced his resignation, said, “Today closes a sad chapter for all of New York, but it’s an important step towards justice.” “I thank Governor Cuomo for his contributions to our state. Just acquired tickets to the Notre Dame - Navy game Nov. 6. I’ve seen the Irish and Navy play a half dozen times over the years. I maintain that game is the best example of what a lot of people would like college football to be. If you’ve never been, try to get to one. It is a fabulous spectacle. I intentionally selected seats in the South end zone because I wanted to be near the Navy contingent. Those people are way cool. And what happens after the game will send chills up and down your spine if you’ve got a pulse.

It’s dangerous to make analogies that mix high school and college football, since the motivations are so different. And I seriously doubt Texas is leaving the Big 12 to seek a “stronger competitive environment,” since they’ve been middle of the pack in the Big 12 for the last decade or so. But your point about the financial side of things is well-taken. I understand that some of the MIC teams don’t exactly travel well. Games against HHC opponents will be considerably more lucrative. I don’t see how, in these times of tight budgets, how anyone could criticize a school that seeks out a situation that is financially an improvement, and competitively, not that much different.

You start with a false premise: that athletes engaging in this kind of protest are “stating … hatred” for the USA. You totally miss the point. To be honest, I expected more than such a knee jerk reaction from you.

Or, there’s another way of looking at it. What makes America different - and great - is on display. The right of our citizens to love their country, but hate the injustices that occur in it. The right to show the very best of American democracy: freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom from political oppression, the right to dissent. We should revel in it, even if we don’t agree.

I know people are lauding his “honesty” and “openness” after his recent venting session. Because it was nothing more than that. The Packers clearly won this stare down, so like the whiny diva Rogers is, he threw a public tantrum — in which he contradicted a number of previous statements he had made. To be honest, I think there is a reasonable possibility that this leads to locker room troubles. If the Packers struggle out of the gate, a lot of people will be saying that.
