  1. I will say this: You’ve got a really top notch officiating crew tonight. Lots of big game experience.
  2. Same thing for a dead ball foul that occurs after the TD but before the ball is ready for play on the try.
  3. There is no “offside” in high school football. There’s encroachment, but it’s a dead ball foul. But, generally speaking, in high school football if the opponent of the scoring team fouls on a play that scores a TD, the score stands and the penalty for the foul can be enforced either on the try or the succeeding kickoff.
  4. That is the correct enforcement. If the opponent fouls during a play in which a TD is scored, the offended team has the option of having the DPI enforced either on the try or the succeeding kickoff.
  5. I will be at Freed for this one. Surprised there hasn’t been more chatter about it. Really looking forward to it, as I have a ton of great memories of games there.
  6. I was at the Louisville game. Both played many meaningful snaps and acquitted themselves well. Bowen is going to be very good.
  7. Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you. 🤪
  8. I was wondering who this referred to. Problem solved. 🤣😂
  9. That throw was sick!
  10. Now that I think of it, I may have been a victim of hazing! Perhaps I’m entitled to some compensation. 🤣😂
  11. I took it as a sign of respect … or, at least, acknowledgement.
  12. That play brings back memories. When I was a sophomore at St. Ed’s playing scout team QB, I drew that one up in the huddle, and we ran it for a TD against the varsity. After practice 2 senior defensive linemen stuffed me in a trash can … upside down.
  13. Could not resist this.
  14. I can’t speak for “always.” But that’s been the rule for at least the last 47 years. 🤣
  15. The big news of the night is that Blackford scored a TD on Mississinewa. First points scored against them this season.
  16. Or on a try.
  17. 3:00 of the 1st. Michigan City 13 Lake Central 0.
  18. The ball remains alive when intercepted, regardless of where on the field the interception occurs. So, yes.
  19. I can vouch for the fact that “Frantic Frank” was a legend in the officiating community.
  20. It’s hardly that simple. A ball that lands 5 yds out of bounds can be caught by a player at the sideline if the trajectory is right. Let me rephrase the question: “If you were convinced 100% that even an extraordinary effort would not have been able to catch the ball, but there is contact, would YOU throw a flag?” The answer is “no.”
  21. It’s OK, his head is not a vital organ.
  22. I did. Camera angle is not the best. He definitely threw the ball … with his left hand! If this was replay, the ruling would be the call on the field stands.
  23. It is a tough call. But we still have to make it. “Easy” is not always “fair.”
  24. Simply put, the receiver gets the benefit of every doubt as to whether the ball was catchable. But if it’s really not, there’s no foul for DPI.
