I watched that one too. I hated it for the fans/players/coaches. But it was cool to get home and watch the last 3 quarters of that game. Felt like I was watching a late night Pac 12 game on FoxSports... except it was a better brand of football. LOL

One of the highlights for me during the regional round has been the guys at SEI Local Sports. Usually a 4A team has to face East Central or a 3A team will face Lawrenceburg who both have games on there. Ev Central vs East Central (2x), Ev Memorial/ Heritage Hills/ Southridge vs Lawrenceburg. I've had a chance to watch all 5 of those broadcasts over the last few years. Great production staff and crew, IMO.

Illinois HS boy's basketball will finish up March 13th with no state tournament. Football games begin March 19th. Six game season with no playoffs. I haven't heard many kudos for how great their plan has been in awhile.

I feel like the map is drawn that way to avoid some difficult conversations about race, housing, and socio-economics. I feel like this conversation has drifted toward some OOB topics, but the district map reflects a long history in Evansville. Lincoln High School (now K-8) is #16 on that map, right in the center city, was the segregated HS while the rest were all white. You can see by the district lines what desegregation and bussing was trying to accomplish. Redrawing district lines would open up some discussions that might be uncomfortable. Neighborhoods like Jacobsville, Jimtown, Culver, and Glenwood are all part of the federal Promise and/or Enterprise Zones. They are currently divided up amongst 4 HS, with Harrison on the east excluded. (Harrison has Fairlawn and Village Green areas, though.) Redistricting purely on geography could result in a single HS disproportionately affected in terms of resources and students. The same problems come up if you were to simply close one of the schools as well. Last fall, a discussion on building a pedestrian overpass at US 41/Washington to allow safer access to Bosse brought plenty of these issues to light. GS has always had nice some recruiting classes from northern Vanderburgh County. 🙂

We're in agreement on that coach, you just are a little more direct - in a good way. The Evans kids have all the "culture" for North HS, which is what I was implying. LOL

I think the plan was to turn North into McCutchanville / Cambridge / Oak Meadow high school. But then they realized their sports would be better off if they kept some of the Evans kids around. North's district shouldn't come south of Diamond or cross 41. I understand that didn't make sense with the old building's location.

Athletically it is debatable and depends on the specific institutions. Academically, D3 is well above NAIA in terms of eligibility requirements with regards to GPA and standardized test scores. Note: I am not saying a good education is not possible at an NAIA school. On the whole, your average D3 player has had greater academic preparation prior to college than your average NAIA one. I would be curious to hear @foxbat chime in on this.

EVSC (Evansville) sent out a message this morning stating : I don't remember seeing this in previous years, so maybe this is in relation to the enrollment counts being delayed? Are there any other school corps doing this as well?

As someone who used to go sit in rain, snow, sleet, or hail with a 3 ring binder to scout, I'll take doing the same thing off a streamed broadcast any day.

I would love to go watch some NAIA and D3 football around the state this spring. Any idea how ticketing will work? I am assuming it will be a school by school (county by county) situation for tickets. I would hate for a parent or grandparent to not be able to see their athlete. As long as there are extras available, I hope to see at least one game this spring.

The question was geared towards out of conference opponents in the tournament and film from Hudl sent to them. That is what @POTLUCKwas getting at. So are you going to say that Southridge only had two game films of Mater Dei last time they played? Sorry, but I’m not buying that. Honestly, I don’t see the big deal, but some coaches can’t stand the thought of sharing film with a few clicks. Sure it feels good to meet at the 50 yard line before the game and swap VHS tapes. But I’m sure there were just as many extra dubbed copies floating around in those days too.

Will there be (or have there been) coaching changes for Fall 2021? SS, MV, and WAS all have coaches going into year 2, if memory serves, but this off season has been quiet.

I just saw the posting on the EVSC website. It shows a coaching, weights, and clinic stipends, for whatever it’s worth. Not sure what the other two entail. Quick tangent- Central’s football coach and Bosse’s soccer coach stipends are only about $700-800 different. Wow. I guess expectations for success aren’t factored in to those stipends.

Sometimes there are obvious alum rumors like Brunson (Reitz) and Sutton (Harrison). Other times the hires are from out of town. I had never heard of Burgess or Coultis, and they had great results in their tenures. I have no idea who might apply but there is a good chance they will have plenty of names to choose from. It will be interesting to see who they hire.

I hope my above comments weren't misconstrued as being negative. I wondered if there was a family/regional connection that was drawing him back to Campbellsburg. I'm not familiar with northern Indiana, but isn't LaPorte a 5 or 6A school? Not often do you see a coach both change corners of the state and school size to such a difference.

And as a wing you can see the advantage gained by Adams "running downhill" prior to the snap. He is accelerating laterally and upfield at the same time, so he would have forward momentum upon catching the ball. It can be the difference between a 1 yard gain and a 2 yard gain. Poor defensive communication/rotation turned it into a TD. Is he motioning toward the line of scrimmage? Yes. Did he gain an advantage in doing so? Yes. Were the above so egregious to warrant a flag? Probably not on this particular play and I can see why there was no flag. But you are darn right I would talk to the officials about the WR pushing the boundary. The Chiefs have crossed the line worse than the Packers did on this play, IMO.

I agree with you on this. I would like to blame Under Armour as they are one of the biggest abusers of the alternate jersey colors. But the blame probably falls to Nike and Oregon for the multiple jersey/pant combos. I think they were the originators.

I believe Evansville Reitz Memorial started out as simply "Catholic" high school and wore green/gold. They were known as the Fighting Irish - the colors and nickname both shared with Notre Dame as homage to the Brothers of the Holy Cross who founded the school. Name and color change happened in the early 1930's, I think.

At my workplace we would need to form a committee to get study the minutes from that meeting. Then we’ll form a task force to implement those findings for future meetings.
