Why 2.0? I'm curious if you can rationally lay out an argument why 2x instead of 1.25, 1.33, 1.5, 1.67, etc. Heck, why stop at 2x? Let's go to 2.5, 3.0, or how about Pi? Let's implement a multiplier of 3.14159265... we can even put you in charge of the math.

It was 7-0 at half, and Lawrenceburg's QB was injured on the last play of the first half. That could have made for a tighter score in the second as well. I'm a big fan of SEI local sports and will be watching the stream. Should be a good one.

Wow. I learned something new today. After all these years in Indiana, I had no idea Green County had all those high schools. I knew Bloomfield and Eastern were not that far apart, but didn't know there were 5 in the county. Population wise, it is similar to Gibson, Knox, and Daviess. (mid-30k) All of those counties have 3 public high schools based on geography and population. Although you could argue that Rivet and Wash Catholic show a 4th HS could be supported, a 5th just seems to be a lot.

I have been wondering this as well. Not to parse words, but the rules state sectional final ‘non-host.’ So in my interpretation that means if no game exists. Then the team would be a non-host for purposes of determining the next round.

Hmm. I just assumed there was an Eastern European guy named Boris broadcasting the games. Seemed legit. 😀 In past years, these phishing attempts really didn't start popping up until playoffs. Thanks to COVID I know they were around as early as week 2, as my extended family out of town almost fell for one. Crazy times

With all due respect to Washington (Sectional 30), Sullivan probably won the sectional championship last weekend over Vincennes Lincoln 28-26. That sectional was a victim of the blind draw as opposed to COVID. Now that I look at it, this may be Sullivan’s first sectional championship in school history.

After 3-4 inches of rain this week, it’s time to revisit the obvious... Castle’s equipment manager will be hating life Saturday morning trying to get the mud off those uniforms. Hopefully the Warrick County School Board sees the difference of Boonville @ Central and BHSS @ Castle. I still contend the 2006 Jasper/Central game was the last straw for the Owens and EVSC to push for turf.

It is really tough to beat a good team twice in a season. Look at last year’s HH/GS and HH/Southridge scores. Heritage Hills won both games, but there definitely was a tightening of the score. One point win even in the case of GS. I expect a tight game either way - shades of that 22-21 game a few years ago. Or was it last year? I swear this year feels like 2 or 3 sometimes!

The "case study" for this is Wisconsin and Illinois. Badger QB tested positive over the weekend after he played in their opening game Friday vs. Illinois. His backup (teammate) has also tested positive since then. So far, no Illini players have. My guess is that there will be zero connected positives to him on Illinois, but a few more teammates on Wisconsin will. This would confirm my suspicion all along that your teammates in the locker room are more likely to transmit the virus to you than an opponent in the act of playing the game. Which is exactly the same way the flu spreads during the season.

Wouldn't that be a success factor double-whammy? Chatard would bump up with a regional win, and Southridge would stay up with a regional win as well.

Intriguing premise, although I don't think there would be much there if you looked at all the teams/data. One question. Why is state champions and runners-up your barometer of success? By that measure, only 12 teams each year have success, while some 300+ are unsuccessful. Our own flawed success factor currently lists winning a sectional in consecutive years as "successful enough" to keep a team at a higher class. For example, an EVSC (Evansville) school has 12 Sectional 24 championships since 2007 (all but 2).

North Knox runs an offense similar to what RC runs. Football is a copycat sport and coaches are known thieves of plays, formations, schemes, etc. My assumption is that he is saying they learned a few things playing a well-coached team like RC. Running certain plays out of certain formation, blocking schemes vs D-lineman, setting up a counter by running a particular play the play before - all of those things can be gained from playing good competition and watching the game film. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Are the mechanics the same for kickoff and punt? Out of curiosity, what are they? Bean bag a catch, muff, or fumble by R? Or does the bean bag only indicate first touching by K? I feel like I have seen one thrown before, more specifically on punts, but I don't know what it indicates.

I think this is where the health departments are missing the data to justify their behaviors. MLB, NFL, and now college football. That’s a lot of competitions without a case of opponent to opponent transmission. (At least I have not heard of one documented case.) Teammates. Locker rooms, bus/plane rides, coaches and support staff. Plenty of evidence of spread through those means. I have not seen competition spread.

😂 As a shocker to no one, I’ve seen a fight break out on the sideline amongst members of a 7-8 coach peewee staff. Like a scene straight from Friday Night Tykes.

By my count - there's at least 8 'coaches' for that Pee Wee team in red. That's the start of the problem right there LOL.

If the "new" North (how long can we use that phrase?) had not been built, I could see some migration from northern Vanderburgh County heading that way. I think the population shift from Princeton south and north from Evansville to the county will stabilize with two good schools there. And re-classifications don't happen in a vacuum either. GS would have to add 100 or so students AND need 10-12 schools above them to decrease enrollment.

Since their game with 0-9 Bosse was not played, Castle actually has the highest schedule strength rating and the best Opponents W-L record. Central has the weakest schedule, while Bosse has the same as Castle (since they couldn't play themselves either.) I'm not sure if this week - Lincoln, Mater Dei, Memorial, and Bosse will be enough to add some connections in any rating system. But by week 2 when Central/Jasper play Boonville and the 5A teams play it will hopefully be enough. If Lincoln and Mater Dei can advance to their respective finals as well (2 wins vs out of conference) then things will hopefully normalize.

If we get a "normal" summer next year it's on our list of places to visit again. The youngest keeps requesting another Busy Bee trip. It just has to be a planned trip - we can't just stop by on our way to somewhere. LOL
