It depends if you want to define strength as parity or top-tier team that can make a deep run. I see the SIAC winning 4 sectionals, one per class 2A - 5A. I don't see any teams winning regional, similar to 2016.

I think some Geiger counters might register the collisions Friday night when Dawkins (Jasper) and Madison (Central) collide. I will pick Jasper in a slight upset. My other prediction is that the game might be over by 8:15. Neither team will throw much and are happy with 3 yards and cloud of turf.

Offense questioned the spot and no correction was made. Then called a timeout as the play clock reached 1. During the timeout the crew conferred and corrected the error, making the D-D 2nd and 13. Timeout still charged against offense. Is there anyway offense can correct the error without being charged a TO?

2nd and 8. Offense commits a live-ball illegal procedure penalty (two men in motion) and gains positive yards. The crew marks off the penalty and sets the ball 5 yards from the chains - i.e. makes it 2nd and 15. What options does the offense have concerning the bad spot/ wrong enforcement of penalty?

More odd trivia- Memorial played Mater Dei in the first round of sectional 1995 on a Thursday night. The city only had 3 fields then and none were available Friday. St. Joe (city) and St. Theresa are former schools that most likely fed into Rex Mundi. As the population moves north, the diocese would be wise to add an elementary/K-8 school in Daylight.

At risk of presenting anecdotal stories as evidence, the players/students who have tested positive at my son’s school were exposed by a member of their household who is older than HS age. To my knowledge, no quarantined students have tested positive after being contact traced and required to stay home.

I don't like the headline of this thread. I guess "suspends season" is technically correct, but I thought after reading the headline they were done for the year. "Suspended for two weeks" is a lot less jarring to read. As far as Chesterton - 48 hours prior to symptoms is the worrisome timeframe. Depending on when the coach started showing symptoms, Friday night may not be in that window.

Memorial (0-3) @ Mater Dei (1-2) next week. Luckily they play in the SIAC and play each other. I bet both schools would hate to see a football powerhouse like Pike Central next Friday. Based on enrollment, these are the two smallest schools in the conference. Maybe they can award a ‘small school SIAC champ’ trophy to the winner? I hear that’s a pretty big deal.

Watching live I thought the U spotted the ball and I looked away to say something to a friend. Next thing you know it’s outside the hash and they are bringing in the chains. I just watched the 4th quarter & OT online. I admit I flipped it off and went to dinner with Brownsburg down 2 TD's and St X seemingly in control. The ball was snapped with exactly 2:00 on clock from the - 48 on 1st and 10. Brownsburg had 3 TO's. Taking a knee isn't advisable in that scenario until :50 seconds or so, but a run play, ANY run play and worst case you're punting from near midfield with 1:45 and the opponent having 0 timeouts. Dropback pass is a complete headscratcher.

I love that they allowed 1,000 fans in the stadium. I wish more health departments would do the same.

I could use a refresher on the endzone rules because I know they differ between NFHS, NCAA, and NFL. Recovered fumbles and interceptions can be brought out of the EZ by the defense. However punts and kickoffs cannot be brought out by R team. I think I have those correct?? On a punt, if a player from K team has a foot on the goalline when he touches the ball rolling dead at the 1 - the ball is at the 1 and not a touchback. This was the discussion between my friends and I, but I think there is some differences between the levels on that interpretation, or maybe I am wrong.

Vanderburgh Health Department has capped crowd size at 500, 250 for each team. I blame ridiculous designs at North and Harrison just as much as anything though. ZERO restrooms and concessions on the visitor side. Common sense says Reitz Bowl and Central could hold 1500 - 2000 but they aren’t going to allow that when there’s no way North/Harrison can. Even bigger issue right now is that Enlow can’t be used.

I would guess most coaches would rather their teams are playing their best in October and not August. It takes a bit for individuals to change their behaviors and adapt to the current situation. Which makes the Honda plant comparison somewhat a moot point. The workers have had several months in the current environment, while the schools are still adjusting. This why I thought summer workouts should have started mid- June instead of post July 4, but that is past history now. We know so much more about this virus than we did 6 months ago. Hancock County has 70,000 residents, which means 7 cases per day ~ 10 per 100k. That's an acceptable number based on the most recent rules of thumb. So I'm sure Hancock County, and all counties for that matter, want to keep or improve (decreased cases) that level of community activity. Fourteen day quarantine is excessive and overly cautious, but it's far from idiotic. Data is showing the virus is much? less lethal than we thought in March, but it can still be lethal. When it's a blanket quarantine policy though, they are erring on the side of caution.

(33% decrease) July 18th: ISDH District 10 (which is SW Indiana, including @jets Dubious County.) There were 104 new cases per day average. Today that is 65. (38% decrease) These numbers are not what they need to be, but they are clearly trending in the right direction. I’m sorry if that offends you or maybe it’s just that we are playing football. We are doing just fine in Southern Indiana without your input. (And look at map @TheStatGuy. Seriously- Farmersburg is ‘southern’?? GMAB)

Short answer: No. We can keep speculating and even distorting things to fit our viewpoint, but all we can do is look at data. Right now the biggest thing is we have entered the last two weeks of Phase 4.5 (set to expire Aug. 27) https://www.regenstrief.org/covid-dashboard/ If you check out the data the state has said is most important (hospitalizations, ICU utilization, and deaths) there are a lot of green arrows in the trend data by county. (Allen County and Lake seem to be the main outliers). The question is if these trends continue, will the state move to Phase 5 and open up games to more spectators.

I agree they should and it seems common sense. I just was wondering if knowing it would be a question asked would force the issue and eliminate the known/should have known issue. As a coach you know the health status of your team. I would be extremely upset if I got a call Sunday that an OL from Team X got an positive result. Because he played Friday night, our entire Defensive Line is out the next two weeks. He played with a pending result because he wasn’t showing symptoms. That seems preventable. But only if both teams and school corporations have the same policy.
