  1. STC dropping stinkers out here like they are Bit-O-Honey's and trying to lure @Lysander in!
  2. I stand by what I stated. Nobody expected East Central to win 49-0. They may have expected a big East Central victory or even 40 point victory or a close victory for some. But nobody expected them to shutout New Pal because honestly Coach Ralph's teams have never been shutout.
  3. The most egregious comment was "that game meant nothing to them for the playoffs in Ohio". They were sitting at 1-1 were going to get 0 points from Ben Davis (because they lost). Were likely not going to get many Level 2 points from FW Dwenger. The East Central game was extremely important for Harbin points! Eventually Moeller was going to get zero points for Ben Davis, East Central, and Center Grove (because they lost) which put them in a terrible spot. Since they beat all of their GCL South opponents it put them in a better spot they still only got 5th in Region 4. They were fighting for their playoff lives after the CG game.
  4. We will find out Saturday November 25th at 3pm what Northwoods athletes have for the machine that is East Central. My first thought is Northwood is not ready for what they will see from East Central (physically along the lines as well as Brotherton and Ringer). Interesting stat. East Central in the tournament is averaging 52.2 points and only giving up an average of 6.8 points. They have pitched shutouts in 2 of the 5 games (2 of the other 3 the opponent scored 7 points). Northwood is averaging 41.6 points and giving up an average of 17 points. For the record while many picked East Central to beat New Palestine, nobody expected 49-0. This is the first time in Coach Ralph's 11 year coaching career at New Pal that the Dragons have been shut out (very impressive). In the tournament New Pal was averaging 44.75 points and only allowing 3 points.
  5. At one point it seemed like Ben Davis had control of the game. Then Center Grove stormed back with a fury. That 4th qtr and Overtime was some very enjoyable football to watch. Ben Davis like they have against Brownsburg and Cathedral made the plays when needed. It did almost end in disaster when Ben Davis QB1 fumbled the ball, a BD player was Johnny on the spot (3 times) as that football was like a greased pig. Both teams left it all on the field. We will have a new State Champion for the first time in 3 years.
  6. When I am wrong I will admit it and eat my crow! Congrats to the Crown Point Bulldogs! They looked very solid! As a prize they get to play Ben Davis in the State Championship. We shall see if they have anything for the Giants.
  7. This is NOT accurate. The East Central game meant just as much for Harbin points as the Center Grove game. You can find how the Harbin points system works here: https://www.ovathletics.com/forum/forum/ohio-valley-high-school-sports/football/13003-ohsaa-playoff-harbin-ratings-system Jordan Marshall had 15 carries for 107 yds against East central, Moeller ran the ball only 24 times in that game. Once East Central jumped out to a 31-14 Moeller began to throw the ball more. Marshall played the entire game. The CG vs Moeller game was much tighter and they could still run the ball it went into OT. You can watch the East Central vs Moeller game in its entirety here:
  8. I didn't see me type that. I do know during entance exams, parent/student interviews, registration (heck even filing for Financial aid) etc. 40 times aren't on any of the forms or questions. Neither are Punt, Pass, and Kick ratings or elementary school stats.
  9. Should make for an interesting Semi-State game. It will be tough to beat the Hawks at Devere Fair Stadium.
  10. Because we all know the P/P are killing it in the Track & Field State Finals.
  11. Exactly my thoughts. ALL P/P recruit students, not just athletes but every student that walks through that door was recruited. Some by even the best recruiters (their parents that are alumni). If they didn't the doors wouldn't be open. Heck even many of the township schools recruit now or days with Open Enrollment. Undue influence is a whole different animal.
  12. They play Lakota West should be a pretty interesting game. Lakota West's 2 losses were first 2 games of the season to Cincy St. X and Princeton (whom was undefeated and Lakota West got revenge in the playoffs). Moeller has 4 losses this year to Ben Davis, East central, Center Grove, and St. Edwards (all are still playing in their tournament this weekend).
  13. There you go again trying to sprinkle in actual facts. Like you have coached at P/P schools! 🤣😂 I personally think where some want to mention restricting enrollments, they feel they do it to stay in a specific class in sports. In reality classification of sports is not even a part of the decisions of why enrollment is restricted. All the things you've listed don't even sniff restricting enrollment for athletic classification. That in itself is the biggest thing lost in translation. Number of classrooms and seats is a big thing, heck some of the schools have already thrown up walls to split classrooms or made additions to appease a growing student body. Others are down in enrollment and desperately wanting viable students to fill the classrooms. One thing is for certain if they have the room, the student can meet the criteria set out, and the parents can afford the tuition. They will gladly take them because each students tuition helps keep the doors open, lights on, and teachers / administrators salary paid.
  14. Lets be full on honest here. Any enrollment restricting is just to not over crowd the school (they can't accept more than "x" amount of students if they don't have room for "x" amount of students). P/P don't need to restrict their enrollment to keep bad seeds out in all honesty because the bad seeds parents aren't going to pay $16,950 to be booted out of the school. In many cases the price tag alone deters the bad seeds parents from sending them there. You are correct Public schools (where there isn't that price tag) will have to accept them.
  15. Yes, 2022 won Sectional (1 point) and Regional (2 points) lost semi-state. 2023 won Sectional (1 point) lost Regional. They have 4 points thus keeping them in 6A.
  16. In Lawrenceburg's defense. The year prior they had a QB that ran their offense well and could throw the ball well when needed, he graduated. They lost to Gibson Southern (eventual State Champions) in a tight game in Regionals that year. The new QB ran the offense very well but wasn't as effective of a passer as the previous QB. They played to their strength the run though.
  17. I sat in with a Jr League's meeting with the Head Coach of the Varsity High School team. All the Dad's (coaches) were up at arms and wanting to change the rules of what they ran, they wanted to run shotgun. The Head Coach of said program relayed exactly what you stated "teach them how to tackle and block properly and safely, teach them about working together, make things fun and meaningful for them". He said he didn't care if it was from I formation, shot-gun, wing t, single wing etc. Then he looked upon them as they were smiling and whispering back and forth and told them "I also don't want to see ranting and raving and kicking your hat around when your shot gun snaps shoot over your QB's head putting you in 2nd or 3rd and long" and laughed.
  18. Easy there tiger just in 6A alone there are 2 pretty solid defense's that Crown Point hasn't played the likes of (Ben Davis and Center Grove). That is not including the lower classes East Central (also a very good defense) and Chatard (very good defense). The Bulldogs have a balanced offense but the they didn't light the scoreboard up against Valpo's defense. It will be a good game and Crown Point will keep it respectable as this will not be a blowout. I've said I think Westfield will win in a 28-14 or 35-20 game. I feel the game won't be in doubt but it won't be a blow out. I think Westfield will hit some big plays to extend the lead and the rest of the game will likely be some back and forth battling. Regardless the winner of this game will have their hands full and then some against the winner of the Center Grove at Ben Davis game.
  19. @Lysander has been banned from Menards, the last time Mrs. Lysander had to post missing flyers around the store so the manager has banned him! That would last him at least 1 half of a game. He has come a long way and made CJB proud! We all know that signing your name to checks really advances the fundamentals of football! Honestly what cracks me up is that people really believe 7th and 8th graders are fully developed enough in football skills to be recruited and paid to play. You know they come out of middle school benching 350 lbs and running 40's in record times. I've been scouring the CTK and St. Matthews halls for those 6'6" 280 lbs lineman that don't need their skills honed with Lysander. To heck with chasing girls and going through puberty. On to the game Knox is and will be physical, Chatard is and will be physical. The question will be can they do it for 4 quarters and respond to the other team doing it to them. I know Chatard can they have shown that with Cathedral, Roncalli, Guerin, and Elder. We will find out with Knox. Turnovers also will be key, no extra possessions. Knox does not want to and can not afford to get into a shootout with Chatard that will be a recipe for disaster. What Knox needs is to sustain long drives (to keep the ball out of Chatard's hand) and score, then force Chatard to go on long drives and not get chunk plays. If they can do that for 4 quarters without turnovers they have a good shot at winning. Easier said than done but that should be their plan. Chatard will play their style of physical football and limit turnovers taking advantage of any turnovers they force.
  20. I believe I was there for a Lowell vs FW Dwenger game that you officiated once. Was a heck of a game.
  21. Yes and I mean exactly that with self inflicted. Only by definition they are public school impacted by the government decisions. Although also IPS in general has had poor leadership as well.
