Live From The State Finals

They converted faking a punt earlier doing same thing. I’m still not sure why Westfield was looking to throw deep on 3rd and 5. Intermediate routes have been there -

Flood gates are open now. This game is probably over East Noble can’t stop New Pal’s run game. -
State final coverage

The first step is always admitting that you have a problem. Only kidding enjoy your time at Lucas Oil Stadium! -
I didn't feel you were ragging on them. I was just stating they have been ragged on for their schedule for several years. It was the topic of discussion prior to New Palestine playing at Bishop Chatard for Regionals and that they had not played anyone (especially in comparison to Chatard). They ended up beating Chatard at Chatard 28-21 in OT, and the game was just as good as I had expected it to be. So far this year New Palestine's toughest opponents would be Chatard, and I would put Martinsville and Decatur Central about even behind Chatard. Decatur Central does not show in their schedule because the game was called at halftime deadlocked at 21-21 but was never completed. I am not sure why it was not resumed on Saturday (I am assuming they could not get officials. Their conference is not the greatest but when it comes to the tournament the majority of them (minus Delta and Shelbyville) are all in the same sectional. Greenfield-Central (at least this year), Pendleton Heights, and Mt. Vernon aren't terrible but this year probably were not the strongest. Having watched in person and on film New Pal and watching film of East Noble they are almost mirror images of each other. Both with Power offenses and East Noble running a 3-4 defense while New Pal runs a 3-3 stack. Both teams want to run the football New Pal 3,690 rush yards 263.6 per game and East Noble 3,391 rush yards 242.2 per game. They also both can throw the ball if needed New Pal 1,847 pass yards 141.9 per game and East Noble 1,621 pass yards 115.8 per game. Both teams create a lot of turnovers New Pal 28 forced turnovers (10 fumbles 18 Int's) and East Noble 43 forced turnovers (11 fumbles 30 Int). They also both take care of the football New Pal has only turned the ball over 5 times (4 fumbles 1 Int) and East Noble has only turned the ball over 11 times (4 fumbles 7 Int). This may be the best game of the 6 State Championships (6A and 5A could be the best 2). No homer from me as I have no affiliation with New Pal or East Noble, but I will take New Pal in a coin toss game for 2 reasons a.) experience at Lucas Oil Stadium for the coaches and preparing their team for the big stage, b.) New Pal has a kicker who has a longest FG of 49 yards. Aside from that I think it is definitely a coin flip game.

Perhaps you automatically assume incorrectly that anytime someone mentions calpreps or Sagarin that they put too much stock into them. I have yet to find anything worth putting to much stock as everything (even human instead of computer) predictions are flawed especially when it comes to High School football and teenagers playing that can make mistakes. The Calpreps computer rankings agree with you that it is going to be a good game though. I feel it could go a couple of different ways but I am imperfect just like the computer rankings
-
The biggest difference between Sagarin and Calpreps is Calpreps includes all opponents regardless of what State they are in. Sagarin only includes Indiana opponents. I am not sure why you get upset at just mentioning that Calpreps has Warsaw Decatur Central as basically a 50/50 game. Say what you want about Calpreps but for a computer ranking they sit at 82.8% prediction accuracy for the State of Indiana predicting 1,387 games correctly to 289 incorrectly. They sit at 81.9% for all states, not half bad predictions for the computer making them. Their highest percentage for Indiana was 92.6% and lowest was 70.8%. I don't use it for anything other then ranking accuracy for the State because it takes all games into account. I make my predictions on games based off what I see on the field or on film from teams. Calpreps also provides a very good dynasty ranking. The flaws of Calpreps are more accurate than if you just picked the team with the winning record in every game (if records are tied picking home team). There are flaws in every method of game prediction even those who pick a winner without using any computer rankings, so what is the difference?
-
Yes and Warsaw offense can eat clock on you. It definitely does not help the opposing team when they have the ball on offense and they turn it over to a team that eats clock. Merrillville had 4 turnovers that turned into 22 points for Warsaw. SO I would say Warsaw not only dominated on offense eating clock but they forced some turnovers defensively.
-
I just looked at the Calpreps projection for this game. Boy talk about being a 50/50 game! They project Decatur Central 28 (53% chance of winning) Warsaw 27 (47% chance of winning). About as close to a coin flip as you can get! Decatur Central has done really well against teams that run the football well and struggle with passing teams. That being said Decatur Central has not played against a team that runs the Flexbone like Coach Curtis does so they will have to be disciplined. I really really want to pick Warsaw 28-21 or 28-24, but a couple of advantages Decatur Central has a.) experience playing at Lucas Oil Stadium in the State Championship (runner-up last year) b.) a 16 minute drive to Lucas Oil Stadium vs 2 hrs 15 min. I will take Decatur Central 28-24 solely due to experience and basically a home game. I will be ecstatic if Coach Curtis and his Warsaw Tigers win the State Championship though and prove me wrong with my prediction!

What that does not show is how many of those transfer that gained full eligibility were do to a change of address. I would bet money 98-99% of the full eligibility were granted full eligibility because they physically changed address so no I don’t feel it shows the entire story. dont get me started on how some skirt the change of address using a family members address or other means. Just saying
-
Ultimately this game will come down to how disciplined Decatur Central plays. Warsaw is going to do what they do with their flexbone offense, and the question will be can the Hawks defense stay disciplined enough to force the Tigers into 3rd and long passing situations or will they give them their 3 yards every down. On offense Decatur Central has athletes, but will they be disciplined enough to not turn the ball over. In order for Warsaw to win they will need to continue doing what they do best on offense eat clock and keep the DC offense off the field because the Hawks can score a lot of points. When they are on defense the Tigers need to get some turnovers to get their ball control offense back on the field.

The Zionsville population has more than doubled since 2010. Their overall schools population has increased by 3,000 students since 2006. It is estimated they will see growth of 200+ students each year for the next decade that is not just High School though. Zionsville and Eagle Township portion of the Town of Whitestown are rapidly growing. -
6A Tournament Discussion
FastpacedO replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Westfield has brought a terrific crowd to their State Championship games. Brownsburg should have a big crowd it has been many years since they have been in the State Championship in football (never at LOS) last time they competed it was at the RCA Dome. -

I wouldn't exclude Zionsville from the mix completely. They were the last of HCC schools to bump up to 6A but Zionsville has been a growing area for quite some time. especially the Whitestown area that feeds into Zionsville (and borders Brownsburg). -

I don't feel I am underestimating anything. Carmel even in a 3-7 season gave Westfield their closest game all season losing 17-13 at Westfield, aside from Westfields's close loss to Brownsburg. Kevin Wright is a proven winner he was 53-5 at Warren Central with 1 Sectional Title and 3 State Titles, at Carmel he was 54-10 with 1 State Title and 2 Semi-State Titles. His only losing seasons were 2 seasons at Noblesville. -

Possibly. His first tenure at Carmel wielded 1 5A State Championship in 2011 and back to back runner-up in 2013 and 2014. It took him year 2 in order to get to the State Championship but the program was in better shape when Coach Moriarity left and Wright took over than it is now. So it could be year 2 or 3 possibly. -
Clarksville has had ebb's and flows. They were 5-6 in 2022 in 2006 they were 10-2 losing in double OT to Brownstown Central they had a couple of winning seasons after that but not many. Providence has also had ebb and flows, they haven't been 0-10 bad but they have had some sub .500 seasons. Providence was solid in 2022 and 2023 but their season was ended by a very good Lutheran football team.
-
Yes there are students that falter and transfer out. Nothing new. Some even get in there and don't like things like: dress-code etc. and transfer out. Some their parents decide they can't continue to pay the high tuition. It is not for everyone.
-
What is next no more shaving requirement, allowing chewing gum, and allowing shirts to be untucked! 🤣😂
-
The only coincidence for Providence right now getting to the 1A State Championship game is that Lutheran got bumped up to 2A (their road block in 2022 and 2023) Answer to the first question is they didn't cut their enrollment so there is nothing that makes them cut it down. The only reason they would not accept a student is A.) if said student does not meet the enrollment requirements/standard B.) Capacity within the school if the school is maximized its capacity they can't accept anymore. The answer to your second question. Enrollment could be down for many reasons like A.) With inflation some families may not have the funds to send their child there B.) Lower number of P/P 8th graders applying to the school among other reasons. The answer to your last question remains the same as number 1.
