  1. Painful! Next to the recent WL game, this was one of the best games I have ever been a part of. Mannering had to much confidence in our kicker that year. We converted some plays in the overtime that should not even be possible. We were out of the game early and pulled our way back in. That Andrean team was stacked with talent. Must stop before I throw my computer at a wall.
  2. Honestly, I think most of the complaints come when you drive by 2-3 schools of the same size on your way to a sectional match up.
  3. I don't think many have given BG much of a chance all year to make a solid run in 2A. They are 10-0 and should be given credit for that. Andrean has played a tougher schedule and has won the games they were suppose to and played tough in the other games with strong programs. They have not received enough credit for the record and schedule that they play. According to my sources, this will be a closer game then many believe it to be. It is an exciting match up for 2A football. The 2A north is tough road to go. Good luck to all.
  4. New Prairie, Hobart, and Plymouth are going to be pretty tough outs depending on who makes it out. Northwood is going to be tough also. Many of those teams have played some 5a and 6a competition. Good luck!
  5. I actually think it is better for lower level teams. It gives them some exposure that may not happen otherwise. Also eliminates the referee shortage problem along with not giving some lower rated crews games. Not sure how it affects the big schools, but I think they would like an opportunity to concentrate on the basics again and get guys rest. My 2 cents.
  6. Agree, but we need to get open down field. Campbell, Caine, and Rogers are not getting it done. We are in trouble when we cannot run the ball. TY is doing ok, but is in desperate need of Funchess coming back.
  7. Could not agree more. They run bucksweep very well. Knox is big up front and have a good LB core. This going to be a good one.
  8. More than most schools our size...but they will be full fast. Plenty of fence to stand around.
  9. I have to agree with you Jonesy. The Kings haven't accomplished anything even close to what Pioneer has during state tournament. They have their team at full strength and are ready to get things rolling. They have speed everywhere and a line to go with it.
  10. Nobody knows what they have in game one. Cass is a very different team from that game one match up. This is going to be a great game. I think all of Cass County can agree to that and keep this talk all positive. Just talk up your team and leave the trash out of it as most everyone has. Friday will be here soon enough. Still three days of prep to get ready.
  11. I am not sure you read my post. I asked what happened to Western...not what happened to LCC. Can anyone comment on the Western side of things?
  12. What happened to Western? They were up 20-0 on LCC and lost? I watch them warm up for games and stand in awe of the 30 some lineman they have, and then I look over at our 8-10 depending on the week that Cass has. It is amazing to me.
  13. That is not true. Hand full of snaps in gun. Center was not ready for that yet.
  14. I cannot speak as to what level everyone's defense is on or whatever. I can tell you that Cass took a very conservative approach to Tipton. They had three line changes that week... the biggest being the center position. They had to replace a two year starter with a junior that just got converted to center that week. He had never taken a snap in a varsity game as lineman let alone snapped in a game. Let's talk about the in game action. Cass accumulated 100 yards in penalties to Tipton's 0 yards. The timing of penalties were bad. Many were more like 30-40 yard penalties. Twice after big pass plays down field...Cass turns to see a flag dropped at the feet of the QB. Holding penalties that negated the completion. Then dropped back 10 yards to the spot of the foul which then was marked 10 yards from there. Also Cass had an early fumble deep in Tipton's territory. It was not a close 28-7 game. Not arguing if Cass can hang with WL or not, just saying things are not always as they appear. No one on the outside has the full scoop.
  15. The only problem I have is that the crew told us the defender needed to be prone on the ground. They agreed that he was on a knee. This call cost us nothing in terms of the game outcome. But this crew could cause someone a game. I just think it is a simple call that they totally missed and have a poor understanding of its interpretation.
  16. We called for hurdling a defender on Friday night. I see highlights of kids doing this all the time. The defender was on a knee...so not even on his feet, and our rb jumped clean over him. We were told that the defender had to be totally prone on the ground for a legal hurdle to take place. We have done this in the past and actually this year, and this is the first time it was called. I think the rule was enforced wrong.
  17. Agree...He definitely got into a grove and the line was clicking. We looked weak on the right side of the line in pass protection a few times.
  18. Game thoughts: Brissett was fine. Made some great throws and decisions. Had one drop by Doyle that was a laser and a tough bang bang throw to Ebron that was ruled incomplete. The defense had moments, but for the most part was bad. I thought the run fits were terrible. Darius Leonard looked the worse I have ever seen him in the run game. He was swallowed up by the chargers at times and he took poor angles to the point of attack. Pass rush was good at times. It seemed that Houston was a non-factor in the 4th quarter. Special teams were plain bad. They did come up with a turnover on the muffed punt, but them #4 missed a chip shot field goal. I am not sure we should be worrying about the offense as much as the other two phases. Luck would not have made a difference yesterday.
  19. I have been coaching for a number of years. All I want a crew to do is keep kids safe, call very obvious penalties, Leave marginal calls as no calls, and stay consistent with what they are calling. Over the years, the best games have always been the ones where the crews drop about 3-4 flags in. I don't know if it is because the kids are following all the rules, or they just make each team play through minor holds and minor infractions. It just seams like a more enjoyable experience when fewer flags are dropped on both sides.
  20. The Kings are excited to play on the turf at Bunker Hill. It is not often we get to play on a nice field like this. This is going to be a great match up.
