temptation Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 What a great day for the sport yesterday. Overtimes and down to the wire finishes in nearly every time slot… Then, this… https://collegefootballnetwork.com/dan-lanning-intentionally-run-12th-man-vs-ohio-state/ Genius if true. 1 Quote
Bash Riprock Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Thought the Penn State vs USC game was really good. A true treat to watch PSU's Tyler Warren. He's a TE, but lines up all over the place. He made an incredible TD catch lining up at Center....yes...Center. His 17 catches yesterday tied a NCAA record for tight ends. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/41760178/tyler-warren-17-catch-day-keys-penn-state-rally-usc Quote

Footballking16 Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Going to be fascinating watching the build up to the Nov 5 CFP initial ranking reveal. Texas is legit but I think the SEC as a whole is vastly overrated this year. Georgia is good but they appear interested in doing everything but playing football. Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri, and Ole Miss don’t looking anywhere close to being top 10 teams but have remained as such due to lofty preseason rankings. If Texas beats Georgia next week, good chance all but one or two SEC teams have at least two losses heading into the Nov 5th reveal as a lot of the already 1 loss SEC will play each other by then. Are they going to be ranked over undefeated/1 loss teams like Penn State, Ohio State, Indiana? Quote

I hope that's true! I was wondering at the time if they did it on purpose. I love the addition of Oregon to the Big Ten. Saturday nights in Autzen is an electric atmosphere. Obviously, great game. The most surprising stat to me was Oregon's OL completely manhandling the OSU DL. Not a single sack for the Buckeyes. Quote

Oregon gained 341 yds through the air...10 yds/pass completion avg. and 155 yds on the ground. 5yds/rush attempt. That is sending a statement. Now, about the Oregon receiver spitting in the face of his opponent....and then throwing the tirade in the tunnel. Hope that is dealt with appropriately. Quote

Yeah, for as much as I hate OSU, that was bush league. Still funny to watch Day outthink himself. You’ve got the ball 1st and 10 on the 28 are down 1 point with the best RB room in the country and you throw it, lol. Then, after the offensive PI you let precious seconds run off the clock because you didn’t know it was running and then end the game with an unused timeout in your back pocket. Classic. Born on third. Quote

Born on third. Great points about clock management..... The QB has to know how much clock left and either get the ball to the sideline or out of bounds with the throw...or run a few steps and get into the slide signaling time out. Just seemed like overall lack of awareness by staff and the field general. Quote
Bash Riprock Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Did anyone see the Kirby Smart contact with the Mississippi State QB? Thoughts? He does claim unintentional. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/41762599/georgia-smart-says-shove-van-buren-jr-unintentional Quote

Had that been in place, Oregon never thinks about that 12th player as it would have put OSU in FG range. 2 Quote

Bash Riprock Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 How ironic that OSU will have to root on Michigan against Oregon when they play later this season, if they desire a puncher's chance at the Big 10 title..... Quote

PHJIrish Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Another noon 'til midnight Saturday of football! What a strange day! And I even made time to watch some NHL hockey and some baseball playoffs. I'm like a kid in a candy store on Saturdays, this time of year. Quote
