Donnie Baker Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 No big surprises in week 1. RP and the Visors will see how good they really are this week. I swear to God they will. Special mention goes to Southmont Coach Hannum for shutting down the Mounties after halftime. Up 42-7 and won 42-14. I’d like to see them have another good playoff run. 2nd and foremost you have to love a team with Mount in their name. State Law! The games. Attica at Tri Countys Carroll (Flora Boys) at Riverton Parkes The small Trojans at South Newtons Fountain Centrals at Crawdadsville Paris (Illinois) at North Vermilions. Seegers at Benton Centrals South Vermilions at Sullivans West Virgo at The Woofs Let it rip Quote

WRC123 Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Attica @ Tri County - Tri County wins Carroll @ RP - Carroll wins big Covington @ South Newton - Covington wins. I think Covington has the weapons and senior class to be a threat and play everyone close. FC @ Cville - FC looks to bounce back after the beating they took by Southmont. An FC win would be number 200 for legendary coach King and I think he gets it done this week. FC wins 27 - 14 Paris @ NV - Word on the street is NV looked "explosive" Paris got them last year but I'm taking NV winning 42 - 20 Seeger @ BC - Seeger got their butts kicked by a good LCC team. Look for Seeger to win big this week. SV @ Sullivan - Game of the week. Is SV the real deal this year or just going to dominate a bad 1A WRC again... I think they have the athletes and if Blank really did go to SV I like their odds. I'll take SV winning 28 - 21 WV @ PH - West Vigo is struggling and I heard PH should've won last week but turnovers lost it for them. I'll take PH 20 - 12 Quote

GroundSquirrel Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 The squirrel has been sniffing around and after the summer, a live scrimmage, and 1 game, this ground squirrel has his predictions for how the WRC will play out. My Power Ranking heading into Week 2 is as follows: 1. SV- Garzo 2.0 is the best QB in the conference and it is not close. Throw in Coleman and Weir on the outside and a workhorse in Schrock and you got a formula to win. A unsung hero for this team is LB/TE Dylan Hill and look for him to make big plays on both sides of the ball. Barrett also upgraded his staff and quite possibly has found his missing puzzle piece to compete for a sectional in hiring Blank. 2. NV- Now ranks 2-5 are very close and will change throughout the season but lets look at the Falcons. Rodriguez's squad has looked good the past 2 weeks but the 2 teams had a combined record of 4-16. Botner might be the best back in the conference. The holt kid is looking good on the defensive side of the ball. My question about the falcons is how can they compete against good teams and teams that have better athletes. That is what I always respected about crabtree is that NV would always win games against teams that had more talent. My question can Rodriguez and Culbreath replicate that? We shall see 3. Covington- The trojans intrigue me this year. They return alot from last year and they made some great progress toward the end of the season. The moore kid at RB is battling botner from NV as the best back in the conference. They look decent upfront and they have a tall kid at WRC. I wouldn't be shocked if the trojans were pushing to be the runner up behind the wildcats at the end of the season. 4. RP- Brad Sanders has built a culture for the panthers and he has earned that. The community expects to win now and I think this team has that potential and being truthful during the summer these guys were my number 2 team in the conference. Now I don't that much about the clovers and they may have gotten better but that game was way too close. The panthers may of had first game jitters but for the depth and experience this team has with price and sanders I was shocked. Now granted maybe the clovers aren't a bottom feeder anymore. 5. Seeger- The patriots are in a rebuild year and again I would not be shocked if they climb the rankings but the squirrel doesn't know much about the pats this year but they got spanked Friday and I think their best days are behind them. 6. FC- QB is hurt and not great upfront. Herb is a great coach and no one can argue that but I think the mustangs are a year or two away. 7. PH- Tough Loss friday for the woofs. Rector is doing an outstanding job and it just sucks that PH is a bball school. 8. Attica- Goal for 2024: Play a game where the mercy rule is not in effect The WRC this year I think will be dominated by SV but 2-5 should be fun to Watch. The squirrel has spoken and that is final Quote

Bear54 Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 (edited) Week 2... Attica @ Tri-County - Ugh, the Ramblers disappointed me. I was hoping for a better showing last week, but they got blanked. I keep hearing they're better, but this year is starting just like the last couple of years. The Cavaliers look to rebound after a tough loss to Covington. Tri-C 28 Attica 7 Carroll (Flora) @ Riverton Parke - The Panthers weren't close last year. Last week, they had to gut one out against a vastly improved Cloverdale team. Winning isn't easy all the times, right? Not shocked by the Cougars performance last week (Caston is historically bad), but this year's team is filling a lot of holes (22 Seniors)and they struggled early on. How will they hold up to the 2+ hour drive to Mecca? This one could be a fun one. Carroll 28 RP 22 Covington @ South Newton - The Trojans won ugly last week. Which might be their formula all year. I think they will surprise some WRC teams. Coach Bevis does the best he can, but the Rebels just can't stay consistent enough. Covington off to a 2-0 start. Cov 24 SN 12 Fountain Central @ Crawfordsville - Southmont took mercy on the Mustangs. I guess FC is down some dudes. The Athenians pulled out a close one against a bad PH team. This one is a coin toss. I'm going with the home team, again. C-ville 2-0 in the WRC. C-ville 22 FC 13 Paris (ILL) @ North Vermillion - Falcons looked good against an improved North Central, but the T-birds lost their QB early in that game. Definitely made a difference. I'm not sold on NV just yet. Don't know much about the Tigers, but they seem to have had a decent program in recent years. Paris 35 NV 24 Seeger @ Benton Central - Just what the doctor ordered after getting thumped by LCC. The Patriots have done well in this series with the Bison. I expect them to even their record out. They will still play a key role in the WRC. Seeger 41 BC 21 South Vermillion @ Sullivan - Battle of the Golden... I mean, Purple and Black Helmet. Although the games have been close recently, The Golden Arrows still own this series. I'm taking the home team. Sul 45 SV 24 West Vigo @ Parke Heritage - As bad as the Vikings have been, I still think they can beat the Woolfs. I predict lots of offense, no defense. GroundSquirrel Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 The Squirrel has his picks for the week and I think this week will tell me alot about the conference Attica at Tri Countys- Tri county played the trojans close and Attica can't catch a break. Tri County 42 Attica 0 Carroll (Flora Boys) at Riverton Parkes- Great test for the Panthers but Carroll is a power and I think the panthers aren't quite ready but they won't be humiliated like last year. Carroll 36 RP 6 The small Trojans at South Newtons- Trojans keep winning and build momentum going into conference play. Covington 34 SN 13 Fountain Centrals at Crawdadsville- Cville by 2 scores not much commentary here. Paris (Illinois) at North Vermilions.- Big test for the Falcons at home. The offense seems to be clicking and with this being Paris's first game I like the Falcons at home Arod starts off 2-0. NV 28 Paris 7 Seegers at Benton Centrals- Call me crazy but I think the Bison have the Patriots number and being on the road in the home of the windmills doesn't help. BC 35 Seeger 20 South Vermilions at Sullivans- The wildcats want this one badly but the Arrows are a good team. I think these two teams are pretty even and the difference this year won't be weather or athletes. Sulivan getting to play this one at home gives them the edge in a close hard fought game. Sullivan 27 SV 21 West Virgo at The Woofs- Woofs win easily and handily PH 42 WV 0 Quote
Boobie Miles Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 (edited) It's been awhile... but glad to be back! Attica @ Tri County- Thought last week was going to be the week for Attica, but I guess I was wrong. I'm going to take the Cavaliers 42-0. Carroll (Flora Boys) @ RP- Carroll is coming into the woods ranked in the state.. I don't think they are as good as last year losing 22 seniors. RP toughed out a win last week and Carroll is coming off a big win.. I think this one will be interesting but I'm going to take Carroll pulling away late in the 4th. 35-20 Covington @ South Newton- The Trojans are looking to start the year 2-0. I think they are going to surprise some teams with their senior class that they have this year. I heard that South Newton is becoming a "basketball school".. I hate to hear it for Coach Bevis but I'm going with the Trojans. 34-6 FC @ Crawfordsville- Crawfordsville snuck out a win against and average PH team last week. I heard FC has some dudes banged up.. After the whoopin the Mounties put on them last week, I am taking Crawfordsville going 2-0. 20-12 Paris (Ill) @ NV- Not sure about Paris, I know that they have had some pretty good teams in the past. NV just beat a really bad NC team last week (without their starting QB).. The falcons may surprise some people this year but I don't think this will be their year. 28-14 Seeger @ Benton Central- Historically the Patriots own this series. I am going to take the Patriots winning on the road 36-22 South Vermillion @ Sullivan- Sullivan owns this series and I think they will continue to own this series. SV lost a lot up front last year but do they have the secret weapon with Coach Blank? We shall see this year. I am going to take the Golden Arrows 35-28 West Vigo @ PH- This might be the worst game of the week.. I heard the the Vikings in West T are struggling and the same thing is going on in Rockville. This one could either be an offensive shootout with no defense or a 6-0 ball game.. I am going to take the gritty boys from West T gutting out a tough one. 18-6 Edited August 29, 2024 by Boobie Miles Quote
