4 teams remain after Friday night. I think a lot of people underestimated the cats, I think NV plays down to their competition, and was putting 70 on PH really necessary? Usually on Monday, I do a power ranking, but this week let's just do a little recap and preview, let's get NUTTY.

RECAPS

Covington did what it had to do to earn another week. This week they play a team that could very well be playing on Thanksgiving this year. The trojans will have to play the perfect game and U don't know if they have that in them.

Seeger played Cass close and had the lead a majority of the game. I think that should give them some positive momentum to take into next year.

FC ran into a good team, but I would say with only 1 senior those mustangs could be out for blood next fall

 RP beat down the woofs.

NV let NC hang around until the 4th quarter. The falcons have kind of disappointed the squirrel with not dominating teams they should. PH played with them, NC a team they beat down earlier in the year, put them through a dog fight, FC should've beat them, and Seeger had them on the ropes as well. I hope the Falcons aren't complacent.

Everybody said SV was going to get dominated and North Posey was gone handle them easily. SV proved yall to be dumb and I will say it to your face. That game remined me so much of NV PH in the sectional championship in 19. I want to take a poll and ask you fine gentleman what game do you think was better. Other than that Friday was the biggest win in wildcat history and they have another challenge Friday Night

PREVIEWS

EAGLES at TROJANS- I think this game in a lot of people's minds is a cut and dry game. However, these teams are both extremely competitive and have some talkers. If the Trojans are going to win, they have to play their best football and they are at home, so you never know. SP is really really good but the trojans are talented to. I think this game could spring the trojans forward in a positive direction for their program.

RP at NV- This was the best game in the regular season and this nutball of a Squirrell thinks this game can get extremely NUTTY like extra crunchy peanut butter. RP will be out for blood after blowing a 14-0 lead and losing in OT. Nv has the upper hand at home and is RP going to be able to play all 4 quarters? I'll have more for this game later in the week.

SV at Linton- From one giant to another, frankly I don't know if I'll offend people when I say this is probably the sectional championship in this sectional. Linton has been a power in the Valley forever and SV is kind of new to success. Both teams are good, and these teams are completely different. The Roy should be rocking friday night and I think it will be exciting.

Show the post that says The Visors would get dominated.

They graduate double digit seniors and didn't play a football schedule in junior high. I think it will take more than a good game against South Putnam to get this program in a positive direction

Not to mention they’re going to get their ass kicked

NP vs SV- The visors will ride on the coats tails of finishing the season 9-1.. I don't think they will be able to stop North Posey's running back who has had four 1000 yards seasons in his high school career.. I'll take the Posey's on the road 35-14

I think you are taking away from what Coach Wheeler has done. Yes, next year they will down talent wise by positive direction is meaning more kids decide to play and the trojans are competitive. Two years ago, they were awful and ended the season with 18 kids. Now Covington according to maxpreps has 43 kids on the roster. Also, junior high ball is overrated I remember there was an undefeated NV that everybody raved about, and they went 1-9 in high school. RP won banks a couple years back and I don't think that class has beaten SV or NV in high school. I am not hating on kids success in junior high but ultimately how you perform in middle school won't dictate how you do in high school.

I hope Coach Wheeler can get more kids to play.  They didn’t field a JH team this year due to lack of numbers and ended up playing 8 man vs a couple local teams.  RP won banks two years ago and again this year.   Those kids are currently sophomores from the 2022 8th grade.   If they get through HS and don’t beat SV or NV, then your comment maybe has some merit.  RP has two contributing seniors they’ll lose and everyone else returns next year, plus a JV team that hasn’t lost in two years.    Their build has been slow and methodical and fortunate they haven’t had a coach that will leave or has when the talent leaves.  🤷🏼‍♂️

There’s a big difference between getting your ass kicked in jr. high and not having a team

This is 100% the case.  The fact that Covington played even 8 man games at the Jr. High level this year will go a long way to ensuring that kids develop properly.

Two years of football experience is not "overrated," no matter how good or bad they are. Lots of lessons to be learned that carry over to high school athletics, especially if your high school coach is directly involved. An undefeated junior high team that stays together for a few years and continues to work at it will absolutely be better than other schools with a sub .500 record that do the same.

There are some factors that influence junior high success, the main one being puberty. Some of those average junior high teams can catch up to the really good ones when hitting puberty.

South Put @ Covington - South Put wins by as much as they want. They are the real deal. Without Moore I don't think Covington will be able to move the ball much and South Put will do what they want.

SV @ Linton - I was going to say Linton by a few scores but the Wildcats have proven me wrong. I wish I could be at this game! Playing at the Roy is different than playing anywhere SV has played. I'll take Linton in a close one 42-40

RP @ NV - NV has not been playing the best but they are still winning. RP has been dominating. I think RP will be looking to get that sour taste out of their mouth and come out swinging. RP wins this one 32 - 21

Will an RP win let them host the championship?

South Vermillion @ Linton - I think the Wildcats have earned some praise around the WRC! They've shown that they can compete with school their size and not just beat up on the smaller schools (good for them). Just like that nutty guy said this is basically the sectional championship. I like SV's qb and athletes to keep it close for them. Physically I think Linton wins that battle. I'll take SV winning on another buzzer beater 35 - 32

South Putnam @ Covington - Watching the way SP beat my role model Coach King's Mustangs there is no way this will be a close ball game. Coach King had the perfect scheme for the Eagles but they are just too big, physical and athletic. I think SP will make it to state. South Putnam wins by as much as they want. Starters out at halftime

Riverton Parke @ North Vermillion - This game was a nail bitter last time. RP giving the game away in the second half. NV can score some points but can they stop that slow, mythical, ground and pound offense that RP has?  Panthers take this one from the Falcons and I don't see it being as close as the first meeting. Riverton wins 44 - 21

4 teams remain with 3 games.

Game of the week has to be at the Roy. Liptons vs South Vermillion’s will be the best 2A game of the year. I think SV stays close but Lipton will pull away. Lipton 42 SV 36.

South Putnams at the Rubber complex. SP is the best team in the sectional. Not even close with Covingtons only hope in Cayenne Pepper out. SP by however many they want.

One of the best games in the conference happens in Vermillion county this week. Both teams have been playing well. RP keeps running the ball down opposing teams throats, for the falcons the pass game is hitting. Could be another OT thriller. I think NV still hangs on to win. NV 24 RP 18

As it should be. Data from multiple studies prove that the use of endzone cameras, such as the HI-POD X31, provides a safer and more efficient game film experience for all parties involved.

Credit belongs to the Endzone Camera Lobby, who spent the necessary time and money to help the IHSAA come up with this policy.

Round 2... Only one WRC team will remain after this week

South Putnam @ Covington - All Trojan bashing aside, they have had a football season any soccer school would be proud of. South Putnam has an agenda, Covington is merely in the way. But I think the Trojans make it interesting for the first quarter. SP 42 Cov 16

South Vermillion* @ Linton-Stockton - I've heard the Visors were wanting to infringe on Miner territory by asking for extra room for their fans. Apparently they don't understand how playing at the Roy works. The Miners dictate what space you get to sit in, just like they'll dictate the flow of the game. SV may score, but not enough. Playing at Linton in November is not for the faint of heart. Visors' last second win hangover will haunt them early and often. 'Perfect' season ends Friday. Linton 45 SV 28

Riverton Parke @ North Vermillion - The Panthers steamrolled the Woolfs last week to kick off sectionals as expected. The Falcons struggled against the T-birds in the first half, but still pulled away late. That's been the current trend for NV. The regular season match-up between these two was a tale of two halves (and a lightning delay). RP dominated the first half and NV dominated the second half and won it in OT. But neither team can afford to struggle in either half this second time around. I think this may be a barn burner with RP taking the rematch. RP 28 NV 24

Ahhhh  I get to  talk football with my buddies in the WRC.. how I've missed you!   Well... I will tell you I didn't expect the...um.. Visors... to come out of that game with the W....but I am suitably impressed. They keep coming back..answering, and now that I'm digging into their season... the passing numbers are truly astounding.  Multiple 5 and 6 TD passes in  games... 400+ yards... multiple receivers who can make plays.   It's no secret that Pass Defense is an achilles heel, and hard to defend when you don't see that level of passing much.  That's the thing... Pass D is so much like life... you can be spot on 9 plays and then the 10th someone blows assignment and a kid is streaking for a score.  How Linton responds to that will be what I want to see.   THe offense will have to be able to drive and be very physical in doing it.  This is a rare year where our passing game has been important, so the rushing numbers are lower... but there still are solid skill guys out there who can break a run from anywhere.  Like SV with Garzolini, SHyrock, Coleman, Weir, Wallace and Hill... Linton has McBride, Voigtschild, Goodman, Smith, Feltner and Oliver.

SV is the bigger team..OUr biggest kids are Gennicks at 6'2  and 250 and Andrews at 6'2 250.   I see Wildcat OL is 6'2 240, 6;6 295, 6'0 255, 5'10 180 and 6'4 270. I am sure the 5'10 kid is quick and has his technic good.  Defense is where Linton hangs their cap...this year is no exeption.  LB's are very good with Andrews and Goodman on inside and Oliver and Smith outside.

I remember these SV seniors when we came to Clinton in 2022... I recall thinking these guys are gonna be monsters come 2024.   Its gotta be exciting for the school and whole community.  The Roy should be an exciting place for football..small town fever.... I can't wait to call the action...

I saw a post saying that SV is paying for the students if they go to the game and they are bringing multiple "fan buses." That can truly have an impact on the game. Both teams should have great crowds tonight and I'm excited for some round 2 match ups!
