70-10 with 40% of those losses to his main rival.

Give him credit as he doesn’t lose games he shouldn’t (with the exception of the 2024 Michigan game) but he has the talent advantage every time his team takes the field.

Where would put Ryan Day? He's 46-5 in the B10.

Sherrone Moore will have more B10 losses on his resume before the end of October than Day does in 7 years on the job. Think about that?

I’m not even necessarily saying Sherrone belongs in the same breath as Day but you also can’t ignore 2-0.

Also, kudos to the Buckeyes for making that run last year but without an expanded playoff Ryan Day is unemployed the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Anyways....back to IU.

Hoosiers picked 6th in the B10, behind Illinois and Michigan. Puzzling no doubt. IU has 4 preseason All-Americans varying on the publication and 7 guys that garnered preseason All-B10 recognition. None include transfer QB Fernando Mendoza who has quietly entered the top 10 in the majority of mock drafts with a few having him as the first QB selected. Another favorable schedule should have IU once again in playoff contention. Dare I say some are sleeping on IU?

Sure you can. Gene Keady had the better H2H record than Bobby Knight. Not a soul would argue Keady is a better coach, it's why rivalries are great.

Not so hot take, Sherrone Moore will be unemployed before Ryan Day.

Hey @Bash Riprock, got to thinking from the other thread.

Do you think Cig is a better coach than Ryan Day?

How would you rank the hierarchy of Big Ten coaches?

Hard to say on Ryan Day.....he was handed the keys to a Ferrari and never had to work his way up driving Oldsmobiles in a head coaching role.  Just wonder where he would be if he had to work his way up as a head coach.

Day sure seemed to be confused in the game against Michigan last year.  No way they should have lost that game at home.  That was not impressive to land him as top coach in the Big 10.

Why wouldn't they? There's zero upside in playing Virginia....only downside.

IU and the rest of the B10 already play 9 conference games and subsequently 9 P4 opponents. Until the SEC gets rid of their 8 game conference format, no reason IU or any B10 team for that matter should handicap themselves by playing 10 or potentially 11 P4 games in the regular season. It's not needed.

The SEC has been doing this for years. And they play one less conference game than everybody else to avoid having half their teams adding a loss to their resume. They pad their win totals and pound their chests. Rinse, wash, repeat.

He’s right.  There is very little upside to playing a tough non-conference slate other than eyeballs.

Michigan traveling into a hornet’s nest at Oklahoma in week 2 with a true freshman quarterback.  Fully expecting a loss there.

Play Directional U, write em a check, win 10 games and go to the playoff.

I would not expect a loss there. Like Florida State, Oklahoma has become a team that is perpetually overrated.

Hope you’re right.

Night game, freshman QB on the road.

The Sooners’ pickup of Mateer was elite.

Have to weigh in on the coaching debate. Moore at Michigan is towards the bottom of the Big 10 in my opinion. Just not a good coach. I mean, I’m happy he is there as he is in over his head. Bottom line, he will be gone within 3 years most likely.

Day has proven to be a good coach, not a great coach. Hard to argue his dominant record in the Big 10. Does he get out coached at times? Yep. Do I think he would win at that level at Indiana? Hell no.

Cignetti is a great coach. Won at every level he has been. Now he has won at arguably the bottom feeder of the Power 4 conferences at an unprecedented level seen at Indiana. I think he has an even better team at IU this year than he did last year. Not sure if that translates into another CFP berth, but Hell, any IU fan talking about the CFP before last year was in the psycho ward.

C’mon.  Jury is still out on Moore.

You’re letting your bias show here.

No bias at all. Never been a Michigan fan, especially with a scumbag like Harbaugh cheating his way to a title. To be fair, not a Buckeye fan either. Just like you, I grew up with the “Big 2 and the Little 8” for 30 years.

The only time I root for either Michigan or Ohio State is when they play Notre Dame, Alabama, Texas, or Penn State. When Michigan and Ohio State play, I puke slightly less in my mouth when the Buckeyes win.

As far as bias goes, you are the last one to talk as your bias towards Michigan bleeds maize and gold

LOL, your first sentence proves I’m right.

I’ll avoid going down this rabbit hole in a thread titled “IU football.”

Put me down at 8-4 for the Hoosiers this fall.

Purdue will suck again and be lucky to win 3 games. Also, IU will beat them by 20+ points. Odom ran his mouth and it will be remembered

Nah, just telling the truth bro. Best case for IU is 10-2, worst case is 7-5. I will say 9-3

The truth requires facts.  2-0 against OSU as the HC, went into Happy Valley and found out he was wearing the headset 75 minutes before kickoff and won that one and is also 1-0 against Bama while also being the OC for the greatest drive in Michigan football history.

Lost 17 players to the NFL two years ago and went into Columbus with a cancer surviving walk on QB and stunned the Bucks.

Now has his own recruits by which he will be judged and a top 10 class in the chamber for 2026.

This script is still being written.

You forgot, lost to Indiana, who hadn’t beaten Michigan since 1987. 37 years. Took Moore one year to do it. With a roster full of 4 and 5 star players against an Indiana team absent of those same type of players. With a bunch of James Madison players, 2 and 3 star recruits. First year D1 head coach in Cignetti. Yeah, every advantage in the book and lost to IU. Good job Moore, let’s keep him around…

Like Coach Ciggy did last year?  That turned out pretty nice for the Hoosiers….making it all the way to the playoffs.

Except an advantage at the most important position on the field:  QB.

Enjoy it.  Cignetti is a helluva coach.

Day should have that record with the talent he has. Give him 2-3 stars and let’s see his record.

A QB with a torn ACL and only one 1 season in Power 4. I agree with your comment, but interesting IU had such an advantage with that position against UM.

IU beat Michigan in 2020.

11-62 record all time against UM. Ugh! 😩

Well, after winning the title in 2023, JJ didn’t declare for the NFL until mid-January.  All of the quality portal QBs were gone.  So, you’re stuck with Davis Warren.

We have spoken about this on here in the past, but Michigan isn’t on the level of Georgia, Bama and O$U when it comes to just reloading.

I do, however feel good about both Michigan and IU’s QB rooms going forward.

Yeah, I forgot IU beat Michigan in 2020. As far as QB’s go, no reason that Michigan shouldn’t have a 5 star recruit every year at QB. Not buying that excuse for a second. I would say that Mendoza has a chance to be a top 3 QB in the Big 10 this year.

Feeding the fire a bit, but Temp you were the one bashing on Cignetti last year. What has changed your tune?
