Fair statement....as I shared earlier, 4 out of the 5 on College GameDay picked Illinois to win.  So much I read from college pundits on social media picked Illinois.  Then immediately after the game, Illinois was overrated.  Experts....

Spot on about Indiana being admitted to the "Big Boys Club".  Seems its far easier for some to attempt to blow out the candles of others....I guess it makes them feel the candles burn brighter for their programs of choice.  As you said...embrace the underdog...use that as motivation.  Most importantly, the Hoosiers must bring their A game to Iowa City this Saturday.

And that’s what is hypocritical about all this nonsense. The same group that picked Illinois to beat Indiana almost unanimously is the same group calling Illinois overrated. It’s also the same group that rated Illinois that high to begin with. How can you call a team that you rated, overrated?

Pick a lane lol.

The D line really got my attention...7 sacks against Illinois...by 5 different players....none being Kamara.  I am not sure if he has a sack this season.  Guessing he's drawing his share of attention, which is opening it up for others and they are taking advantage.

This game will give them the experience of playing in a very noisy and hostile environment....they will use for the first time silent counts....and that is needed with Iowa, Oregon and Penn State all coming up.

Kamara switched positions this year. He’s more a strong side end/hybrid LB. He’s no longer terrorizing QB’s from the weak side. He won’t have the same numbers as last year, but he’s graded out extremely high and drawing double teams.

My thoughts are that IU is a much better team than Iowa. I am giving Iowa some credit as it is tough to play at Kinnick stadium. Unless IU has 4+ turnovers and craps the bed, I just don’t see Iowa hanging with them. Honestly, I think Illinois will prove to be a better team with a better record than Iowa, but time will the story

Only way Iowa can hang with IU is if IU self destructs. Indiana’s front 7 is too good. Notre Dame is the only team that has been able to control the LOS and methodically run the ball and control the clock against a Cignetti defense. Iowa ain’t Notre Dame.

thank you...I had not appreciated that fact.....I assumed he was mainly just getting all the attention

I want to know when Temptation trolls into this thread. He said 9 victories by IU will convince him that IU and Cignetti are for real.

You know he's fightin' it right now

Still here.

IU should beat Iowa, though Kinnick is where ranked teams go to die.

Still tough ones in Eugene and Happy Valley upcoming.

Maryland not looking like a gimme.

Although Old Dominion slapped Va Tech around, didn't they??  Beat the Hokies 45-26 in Blacksburg.  Maybe better than people had thought.....but I hear you on the execution

I am sure to the unaware, just box scorer internet fart noise folks, yes, but what I saw was a severly more talented team week 1 struggle with execution.   Hence my opin on the upcoming matchup.

IU QB I think will be a the question mark I have.   Iowa will be a hostile environment, but what Coach Cig does so wonderfully is provide incredible amount of confidence in his teams thru his personality.

Wonders how good Alabama or Ohio State would be with this guy at the helm. Really makes you wonder if he's the best coach in all of football. We all know now with 100% certainty that it's not Belichick. And if you're going into battle, does Belichick even make the Top 30?

Can't rule out Bill just yet. The guy brought in 70 transfers and completely flipped the roster. Give him 2 or 3 years, and if we are still seeing the same results then I would agree with you. Too early in North Carolina to be calling Bill a flop.

His model is a failure. He said it himself, he's bringing an NFL type model to college football. He'll continue getting smoked. The best coaches in football are at the college level, in my opinion. He's in over his head.

Fair point, but I'm not going to rule him out yet. Like I said if by year 3 we see the same results, then I am in complete agreeance with you. Just think year 1 is too early to make a call in today's college football. Being in the ACC helps. Not sure he will make noise nationally, but he could get the Tar Heels to the top of the conference if the ACC doesn't fall apart before then.

That's the problems for IU.  There will be teams kicking Cig's tires and offering him a lot of money, you can count on it.

Something tells me he's content. I mean, what's not to like about Bloomington? It's beautiful and I think Cig and his wife agree. The guy is 64 years old and finally making his mark. I think he wants to make it at Indiana.

I don't think he'll be leaving anytime soon, if at all, but he will be tempted.

According to Google AI, Cig is in the top twenty now.  The $8M listed doesn't include the $1M retention bonus, that I believe makes his compensation total at $9M/year.  But you are right...it might lead to another raise.

Currently, the 5th highest paid coach in the Big 10.

No SEC salary surprises me anymore.

Hell, Drinkwitz and Stoops are flat out embarrassing.

SEC has been operated as a pro league for 30+ years. NIL has evened the playing field…

IU is up to a 8.5 point favorite against Iowa. Vegas knows something…

Vegas knew something last week with the IU vs Illinois game didn't they.....missed that spread big time.

Big test for the Hoosiers today....first away game and in a loud, hostile environment

You misunderstand, spread should be about 14 points in all honesty. The reason the spread keeps climbing from the original of 3.5 is because all of the money is going on the Hoosiers. IU will literally have to 💩the bed for this game to be close
