Quote

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football is committed to fully funding the $20.5 million it will be allowed to share with athletes come July 1.

While schools await the final approval of the House vs. NCAA settlement that will usher in a new revenue-sharing model, athletic departments across the country are putting plans in place to fund that significant new expense.

Indiana’s athletic department has what athletic director Scott Dolson describes as a “comprehensive plan” in place to meet the moment that includes the introduction of a personal seat donation (PSD) program for football season tickets starting with the 2025 season.

“We’re committed,” Dolson said, in a recent phone interview with The Herald-Times. “You have to be.”

...

For 2025, season ticket holders, new and old, will have to make a mandatory seat donation upwards of $250 per seat based on the area of the stadium. There will still be portions of Memorial Stadium that do not require a donation.

...

Sorry, if something, say the paying of monies,  is now mandatory in order to receive a good/service it no longer a donation.  Stop pussyfooting around and call it what it is, a 'good seat'  fee or surcharge.

They had one good year, and now they’re capitalizing on it. Smart strategy … especially if there is doubt they’ll be able to reproduce that success.

Oh, I agree on the capitalizing on their recent success. Don't just call an fee/surcharge a "donation" where it's clear it is not.  Just rubs me as being dishonest.

especially if there is doubt.....my guess is the administration is pretty high on Coach Cignetti and the future

Perhaps. But they’re also mindful of the past, and striking while the iron is still hot.

I don't think they pay the man what they did ($9M/year for 8 years) if they don't believe in the future. I understand striking while the iron is hot.

Underwhelmed:

Yeah, not a great intro video....Would have been much better showing an image of what Bloomington looked like in the early days of the State from the view of what the bison would see, coming out of the woods while traveling through different time periods on its way to the packed stadium. Finish with the camera turning to face the bison.

Not to shabby…..

Scary to think that the defense will likely be better than the offense

IU has two legit All-American's in Ponds and Kamara and Fischer should be an all-B10 quality LB as he was last season.

Why would IU cancel Virginia contract for some Slaps ?   Yikes.

Why wouldn't they? There's zero upside in playing Virginia....only downside.

IU and the rest of the B10 already play 9 conference games and subsequently 9 P4 opponents. Until the SEC gets rid of their 8 game conference format, no reason IU or any B10 team for that matter should handicap themselves by playing 10 or potentially 11 P4 games in the regular season. It's not needed.

Hammering Virginia carries more weight in the end then Kennesaw St,  no argument on inbalance of schedules amongst conference which is a MAJOR issue that needs addressed as they move to their own little sandpit to play amongst each other while leaving NCAA in rear view.

Seems like its the opposite of the messaging out of Coach Cig, since taking over, didn't realize Cavaliers were such a threat to the New Kids on the Block.   Carry on

They aren't a threat, there's just zero reason (or upside) as to why a B10 team should be playing an inferior opponent on the road. Would Ohio State or Michigan voluntarily play in Charlottesville? Of course not.

Coach, your new guy seems pretty vocal....maybe Cig is resting up his players for the last game of the regular season.

Hey @Bash Riprock, got to thinking from the other thread.

Do you think Cig is a better coach than Ryan Day?

How would you rank the hierarchy of Big Ten coaches?

National Champion

-Ryan Day

Really good coach with bright future

-Dan Lanning

Program builders who do more with less

-Curt Cignetti

-Bret Bielema

-Kirk Ferentz

Born on 3rd base

-Lincoln Riley

-Sherrone Moore

Can't get out of his own way

-James Franklin

The rest

Here's what CBS thinks

Not saying Sherrone is a sure fire top 3/5 guy but come on here.

2-0 as a head coach against Day and 1-0 against Bama, after also calling the greatest drive in Michigan football history in the 2024 Rose Bowl and going into Happy Valley an hour before kickoff and being forced to put the head set on.

Seems pretty close minded on Day.  A national title just ends the debate huh?

What about Uncle Ed at LSU?  Won a natty then was unemployed two years later.

I do like the more with less argument though.  Gotta see one more year from Cignetti.

Still a national champion

Both Riley and Moore have the ability to move up or down. Riley is a season away from joining James Franklin.

Ryan Day is 70-10

70-10 with 40% of those losses to his main rival.

Give him credit as he doesn’t lose games he shouldn’t (with the exception of the 2024 Michigan game) but he has the talent advantage every time his team takes the field.
