Always a nice write up...just a little extra detail.

This is the 54th meeting between Heritage Hills and Gibson Southern and the Patriots lead the series 36-17.  The Patriots also faced the three teams that consolidated into Gibson Southern in the 1972 and 1973 seasons and went 0-2 VS. Jack Jewell's Fort Branch Twigs, 1-1 VS. Haubstadt, and 2-0 VS. Owensville.

In the first season of Patriot football, the Patriots went 9-1 and their only loss was a 15-12 defeat by Jewell-coached Fort Branch Twigs. The Jack Jewell lead Titans won the first 3 meetings in the series beating Roger Snow’s Patriots in 1974, 75, and 76, the Patriots didn’t beat them for the first time until 1977, the same year Bob Ashworth became the Patriot's head coach. That same season was also Hall of Famer Bob Clayton's only season as Offensive Coordinator at Heritage Hills the following season Ashworth moved on to Evansville Reitz and Clayton took over the Heritage Hills program.

The Titans have won 13 of the last 22 meetings starting with a Coach Rick Stefanich win in 2010 that snapped the Patriots streak of 21 straight wins over the Titans. Heritage Hills and Gibson Southern have played 5 overtime games in the series including a 7-0 five overtime affair in 1982.   In the Coach Nick Hart and Coach Todd Wilkerson era (both began as Head Coaches of their respective programs in 2012), Nick Hart's Titans lead the series 12-8.   Hart's Titans also lead with regard to conference championships 8-4.  Gibson Southern - 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023.  Heritage Hills - 2014, 2019, 2019, 2024.

Tough one to call here. The Titans should be very eager to win this one, especially since they won't get another crack at them in the sectionals this year. No need to hold anything back. This might be the closest game the Patriots have until semistate but I still think they come out on top. I will take the Patriots by two scores.

One thing to note on those comparable stats ...  HH has played through the first half, and sometimes a bit into the third quarter, with running clocks in the second half of all of their games so far.  Looking forward to a great atmosphere on Friday night!  GO PATRIOTS!

Yeah, I'm disappointed that HH didn't produce a schedule this year with a nonconference team who would provide a nice strong punch in the mouth.  It's good to know with Gibson Southern in the PAC, there's always going to be at least one smelling salts game per year.  Looking forward to a DAWG FIGHT Friday night!

Agreed, the non-conference schedule is awful.  It is unfortunate that we couldn't get a 2 year deal with CAL,  they are ranked #2 overall in KY this year.  We have a new AD, maybe this will improve.  Apollo was an improvement but Catholic or Owensboro would have been better if we are going to Owensboro.

That said, after the dynamic duo graduate, you might be happy with the scheudle the way it is?  Not throwing shade....just saying that could be one thought process.

I disagree.  I'd prefer a nonconference game on the schedule every year that places us as the obvious underdog.  That seems to be how Gibson's schedule is usually laid out, and I think its a good call.

I’ll say HH by ~20.  I respect Nick Hart and his program a whole lot.  But HH is on a different level this year.

The loss of the dynamic duo isn't going to be the problem next year, the problem is that we graduate 1400 lbs of offensive linemen.  Jett and Ty are generational athletes for us slack jawed rednecks, but you can always find someone to carry the ball and run fast.  I'd put this O-line up against about any in the state.  Losing them to graduation will be  our biggest issue next year.

I still want a "better" non-conference game--or two regardless of who we lose.

Maybe, or maybe they will beat us by 20.  I got a feeling we are going to get their best game.  To be honest, they need to get their heads out of the clouds.  I say that as a dad of a senior starter.

Oh, come on dad.  🙂  Enjoy it while it lasts ... the coaches will have them ready.
