There are teams playing games that are missing a significant number of contributors. Springs Valley is playing with basically their entire Junior class quarantined. Not all schools cancel just because they're in a bad situation. Amazes me some of the big schools that are cancelling. Surely they can play. It may not be with the 11 on the field that you want, but that's not always the point. Thank you. If you factor in Covid quarantine, on top of the normal injuries that happen every season, it’s a challenge just to field a team. It’s not even about being competitive at this point, but rather getting the game played. There are schools who are playing Friday nights with a varsity/JV hybrid line-up. Forget about making up for the 8 consecutive practices the team missed while in quarantine, because your line-up changes from day to day. There isn’t any continuity. The "experts" and media said "the coronavirus was no threat to Americans" and downplayed the coronavirus until mid March. Herd immunity is why our plant has had no further spread of the coronavirus for the past 110 days despite 800-900 union workers who refuse to wear masks or social distance while working 10 hour shifts 6-7 days per week. Hundreds play cards in groups of four at picnic tables every day. No one is more than two feet away from the other three and no one is wearing a mask. I bet if the leftist union said they had to wear masks...you better believe those sheep would be wearing them On the covid note...South Bend is waiting for the rest of the state to cancel games...much easier path to the championship

Guest DT
The correct word is "affecting," not "effecting." We learn this in grade school gentlemen

If someone is stupid enough to pay you $20+ an hour to do that then what is the issue?

It's the fact we didn't get to practice for 10 days. Don't talk about things when you don't know all the facts!! Then why did the volleyball team play a game less than a week after two of their athletes were in quarantine? Just curious that's it. Just curious that's it. It all depends on local health department guidelines and the individual situation. For us, if someone displays the "major" symptoms or is in close contact with someone displaying "major" symptoms, they must quarantine for 10 days or until the individual displaying symptoms received a negative test. So a student-athlete could conceivably only miss a couple of days. If someone is or is exposed to a confirmed positive case then they are quarantined for a full 14 days. Essentially, the term "quarantine" does not automatically mean staying home for 2 weeks. And this guidance changed about 2 or 3 weeks ago and could easily change today for all we know. Just curious that's it. I've had about 20 students quarantined in the month since we started school. Only 3 have remained quarantined for the entire 14 day span. The rest returned within 2-3 days of being quarantined. The "contact traced" potential Covid contact that these students encountered ended up testing negative in each of the cases.
