Fkfootball Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 I'd be pretty upset to lose East. Hopefully the HHC could get someone to replace them. Quote

I’m not in favor of leaving, at least not yet. Overall, our athletic programs are down. If we can’t pick it up then we’re not going to stand a chance in the Mid-State. We’ll be at the bottom of almost every sport on a consistent basis aside from wrestling. Quote
Uncle Bubba Posted February 1, 2025 Posted February 1, 2025 Went to the FC vs. Seymour basketball game tonight. Saw someone from FC get escorted out by the sheriff for running his mouth to the Seymour player…@fkfootbal you have any idea who that was? 🤔😳🧐 Quote

Sit the F down, get a popcorn and beverage and watch the game. Players. Please, STFU and play ball. You ALL are embarrassing yourself and your name. Quote

Fan was and pointing at him on front row while on side line. Player laughed at him then said something back to fan as ref stopped to get sheriff. The kid was an absolute beast on the court, played really well. Johnson I believe was his name. #23. I think he is the TE on the football team as well. Quote

Sparty Posted February 1, 2025 Posted February 1, 2025 Just watched the end of the U of A/ASU game. These athletes are morons. Hope the player was as innocent as portrayed above. For sure the adult is an embarrassment Quote
Coach Dowell Posted February 2, 2025 Posted February 2, 2025 The FC crowd was very interesting. First time I have ever have been in the stands at FC Basketball (always been on the bench.) JV Official missed a travel at the end of a quarter. Seymour player hit a three before the horn (after the travel). From about 25 rows up a guy was yelling Fing Terrible! Fing this and fing that (nearly the whole time between quarters) Must be a usually occurrence. Then the Varsity game... Officials were good (not great but OK) . They guy in question just starts talking to Jaylan. I am too far away to hear but a number of us in the crowd expressed the need to clean things up on the court. Kept Jawing at Jaylan.. Jaylan did say something back with a smile on his face. Official did the right thing by getting the fan out of there. Agreed with the above comments. You will never meet a nicer kid. I had the pleasure of coaching him for 3 seasons on the football field. He plays hard and with emotion, dislocated his finger on the tip. Had to have it snapped back in place 2 times and taped up before going to work on FC. He even went and got a floor mop when the officials requested a towel/mop for a wet spot. He did the mopping himself and return the mop to the end wall behind the basket, Everyone needs a Jaylan Johnson on their team. On a positive note... I saw Coach Bragg at the end of the game talking to Jaylan and Congratulating Jaylan on the W. Another positive two FC dads where complimenting our Seymour kids on how they play tough, share the basketball, and defend. Too bad that the above occurred with the fans. Quote
Frozen Tundra Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 Grown men talking to high school athletes like that need to go see a psychiatrist so it can be determined what hurt them in life. Grow up. 2 1 Quote

RetiredSouthernCoach Posted February 5, 2025 Posted February 5, 2025 There was a post in a facebook group for Indiana High School Football stating that both Bloomington South & Bloomington North, along with Southport, are in process of joining the Mid State Conference. This would leave Columbus North and the Terre Haute schools out of a conference equation. IF this were the case, would the Hoosier Hills make sense for Columbus North? Columbus North & Jeff in same football sectional. Enrollment trajectories show East, Floyd, Seymour & New Albany trending upward towards top of 5A & potentially 6A, matching North's enrollment of being a smaller 6A. Thoughts? Quote

I would actually have to disagree about the schools trending upwards enrollment-wise. The numbers show that this is true for Seymour but not necessarily for all the others. Let’s look at this enrollment cycle as well as the last five, which date back to the 2013-2014/2014-2015 cycle. (If you can read it, please reference the picture below. I apologize for the quality not being the greatest.) Columbus East has been up and down for the last six cycles. Only a +57 student change since 2013 but there have been increases and decreases in enrollment during that time. However, their rank within the state has gone up ten spots to 58th. Still nowhere close to the 6A cut line though. Floyd Central grew a lot from 2013 to 2022 but they’ve gone stagnant the last three cycles. They are just inside the top half of 5A. New Albany has taken a hit by trending downward since 2013. Although, they actually saw a little bit of growth this cycle which is their first in a long time. Like Floyd Central, they are just inside the top half of 5A. Crazy when you consider they were in 6A the first two cycles. Seymour has boomed since 2013. Not only has their student population drastically increased but so has their rank within the state. They’ve worked their way from the middle of the top half of 4A to just shy of the top half of 5A. The question will be whether the growth can continue or if it’ll begin to plateau like Floyd Central. Unless there are plans for expansion, I’m not sure the school can hold much more students based on what I’ve heard. Edited February 5, 2025 by Frozen Tundra Quote

Curious, not being from the area - Seymour's enrollment had trended upward in the last five/six years, whereas Brownstown has been the opposite?? Being county neighbors, why the 2 different directions?? Quote

Impartial_Observer Posted February 6, 2025 Posted February 6, 2025 Anyone’s guess but between 15K-20K in immigrants. Again anyone’s guess 50%-70% illegals. Three- four-five families living in one house/apartment. So no tax base to pay for their social infrastructure, including schooling. Seymour is nearing 45% Hispanic enrollment. And of those, I have been told less than 30% speak or read English. It’s not a problem unique to Seymour, but it has put an increasing strain on our social infrastructure. My guess is Seymour is 6A in Football within the next two counts. Unfortunately Hispanics don’t really gravitate towards Football, so we’re competing at the 6A level with a mid-4A enrollment. One caveat, things have clearly changed in the last two weeks. I was speaking to a local business owner today and he told me there’s clearly something going on, we aren’t seeing Hispanics in here in the last couple of weeks. 1 Quote

Fkfootball Posted February 7, 2025 Posted February 7, 2025 After having our team boycott practice this week over some internal issues and having to make a coaching change today, I'm so proud of our guys for a big win over Bedford North Lawrence. It's such a privilege to live in such a great community with a lot of great and successful people. And even better kids. I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else in this state. Quote
