Biggest question for the Jackets is the line on both sides of the ball. Return almost everything in the skill positions. Ethan Turner is the guy for the full offseason, excited to see him throw it around in the fall.

Kids continued to fight and get better throughout the year. Give Kling credit, plus he is also doing a great job with working with the JH kids. I think you'll see a slight increase in the win total each year, and the incoming freshmen class group will be "the year" for us when they are seniors.  This season's W total just hinges on a lot of questions on the Line.

I knew Coach Kling back in the old days at USI. Great coach and also a great dude! No doubt success is on the horizon in Mitchell

I really don’t know anything about him or his coaching philosophies.  It sounds like he has had some success in rebuilding some programs.

Given Gleasing penchant for not sticking around long and Salem’s recent history with HC’s how long does this last?

I don't know him really but my first thought was 2 years. Then I was told Glesing and the AD Weedin were college roommates so I'm going to guess 4 years.

I guess only time will tell. Hopefully he’s with us for a while and can mentor a young coach to take over when he is finished.  Since 1978 Salem has had 5 coaches with Glesing being the 6th.

Jim Ralston 78-98

Brian Motsinger 99-10

Mo Moriarty 11-12

RJ Hartsfield 12-19

Blair Thompson 20-22

That's good for Mitchell. I know our JH was decent and mix well with the soon to be sophomore class as they have alot more size. Looks like we may have quite a few years of dog fights coming up. Most conference seems to have some bright spots coming if the kids stick with it.

I didn’t realize RJ was there that long.

Coaching out in Texas now. I'm more surprised Thompson stepped down so quickly. Now we wait for Corydon to announce. Their HC stepped down pretty quick I assumed he had a job lined up somewhere. Wonder if he will be an assistant somewhere

As someone who was a Jr and Sr player during their first 2 varsity seasons and then started their coaching career there....... it's tough sledding man. Hard to buy in....and without that you're always fighting an uphill battle.

What was the reason for him leaving FC?

He told me a few years back that they lived right across from Jeffersonville High School. Maybe his wife was working there at the time. It was something like that. Thought it would be good for his work/home life.

Clarksville coach Justin Boser has left for Greenwood. Good luck to him. Another opening. Even if not in MSC anymore they are glorified members. 🤣

So does Clarksville slide back into the abyss?

I dunno. Going independent has allowed them to schedule easier/closer to their size instead of the MSC meat grinder. That seems to be their biggest help last few years. 6-9 last 2 years against non MSC schools 2-5 vs current. Still play Charlestown, Scottsburg, North Harrison. They did have 39 listed on last year's roster (11 seniors I believe). So they seem to be in better shape then alot of struggling schools. Hopefully the next coach can continue to build.

What does Clarksville have coming back? Their schedule does look more program friendly without that conference full slated on there. Does Clarksville have enough there to attract a younger up and coming coach looking for an opportunity?

They lose all their skill players including QB and do it all RB Robert Lamar but return every lineman it appears. Our JR high beat em 48-0. They did beat our JV but we only played like 3 or 4 JV games I think finishing winless. That about all the info I could find.

That’s part of it. Fans and parents complaining that he ran the ball too much. Being a lifelong FC fan and Alum, I can tell you, that we definitely have one of the hardest fanbases to deal with. It turns a lot of coaches off.

According to Harrells looks like Salem/Springs Valley is gonna be a series. Added to week 5.

Also so far only week 6 opening I can see happening for WW is Washington. We played there couple years ago then they cancelled. Maybe they can return the trip. We need the home game that's for sure.

North/South rosters came out over the weekend.

Griffin McGee from Springs Valley will be a kicker and Aynsley Nance from West Washington will serve as a manager. Pretty awesome opportunity for these two.

Corydon officially hired Luke Keller. Who has info? System?

Luke is a personal friend of mine.  He comes with coaching experience at Forest Park (while he was student teaching), Jasper (volunteer), and Springs Valley.

He is a 2003 graduate of Jasper and played at Hanover College.

What system will he run... I do not know that.

I will give you coach speak here.  We will be running the systems which fit our players.  I have a system I want to run, but if the players do not fit that system, then I will have to change.  The only aspect I can tell you for sure is we will be attacking where we have the advantages.

14 years Varsity Football coaching experience- Jasper, Forest Park, Springs Valley

3 years AD- Vincennes Rivet

6 years Varsity Track and Field Coach- Jasper, Vincennes Rivet

5 years Middle School Basketball Coach- Holy Family (Jasper feeder)

Hope that answers all your questions!

Appreciate you. I knew of the Valley back ground (I work at the casino...kids go to Valley...wife a Valley grad). I know of Corydons offense last year as similar to WW offense under bowsman but jasper and Valley didn't run that so didn't see that continuing. Good luck coach and always enjoy a coaches perspective on the board. Thanks!!

4 more months. Hope everyone provides some summer info to help burn the time. Wondering if WW will try to add North Daviees. Both now have week 6 open with Linton adding someone else. Makes too much sense to me. Same sectional. Played in the past regularly. ND was scheduled to be on road that week and we desperately need a home game.
