Pick'em selections: Columbus East @ Floyd Central Needless to say, the winner of this game will have the inside track to the HHC championship, although BNL will have a say in that as they host both of these teams at the backend of their schedule. Last season, FC doubled-up the score on the Olympians in Columbus. I don't see that changing, especially with the game at FC. BNL @ Jennings County Jennings County has a couple of wins over so-so 2A teams. Their three losses were blowouts and they lost their last two games by a combined score of 103 to 7. I expect a running clock at some point in this game. Jeffersonville @ Connersville The Spartans are 3-2 against a so-so schedule of primarily 2A and 3A teams. The last time the Red Devils played out of conference, they were annihilated at home by a previously winless Kokomo team. I learned my lesson about the Red Devils, and I see them losing on the road by a couple of TDs. Seymour @ Brownstown Central This game could be over with by halftime with a possible running clock to start the second half. Silver Creek @ New Albany After their season opening win over a 1-3 Providence team, the Bull Dogs have been blasted in four straight games with the closest of those games being a 40-24 loss to BNL. I don't see them having the defense, nor the offense, to come out on top in this game.

Umm, this "faceless entity" is their school, just combined with another in a similar situation. For me it comes down to the fact that 11-man football is a superior game compared to 8-man. And the IHSAA along with school AD's and coaches should use every tool at their disposal to ensure 11-man is the only option, not some watered-down version of the game. Frankly it's that or either drop tackle football altogether. Should boost the numbers available for the soccer team...................

Not sure, but I can tell you that we move as fast as they signal us. How long ago was that? I have the conversation with the refs every time we host GS. We move when we are told.

I think valley is probably the better team. Jimtown is always a really tough place to play well when the Jimmies are solid. Should be a great game!

I'm for co-ops and eight-man football. However, how will the IHSAA sanctioning co-ops affect the growth of eight-man football? It seems athletes would face a choice of playing for their school or playing for some entity without any history or tradition. I think a lot more athletes would choose to represent their school than the faceless entity. Idk man. Tough sell.

Carroll @ South Side- South Side got beat at homecoming last week, there will also be no dancing this Friday after the Carroll train leaves Calhoun. Chargers bring in Jv at the start of 2nd half in this one. Concordia @ Luers- Nothing quite like a Homecoming game at Luers in late September, seems almost magical..unfortunately for the knights the Cadets will have enough tricks up their sleeve to pull off a magical stunner as they make sure no dancing will be had for all of Calhoun st this year. They win by 3. Northside @ Wayne- Generals put up a good show last week with their dynamo D1 DE getting 2 defensive tds..maybe the offense can chip in this week and keep this close as the yellow hanky haunts the Legends..then they just throw it up to WR1 until he calls game..Legends by 8. Northrop @ Bishop Dwenger- Sparty had Dwenger on the ropes last week until a 4th quarter meltdown, they showed the true heart of a champion coming back from down 10. Bruins have been winning without their best player and he has a game under his belt this week. He gives the Bruins just what they need as they show the Saints that they’re 2 6A powers that they can’t beat this year. Bruins by 14. Homestead @ Snider- Sparty will be looking for their consolation prize this week and the panthers fit the bill. Even when coaches have them in perfect positions they still can’t cover a bed with a blanket. Black jerseys, yellow jerseys, pink jerseys, won’t matter..another slaughter at homecoming yet cats will still be dancing..Sparty by 28..

I won't disagree with IHSAA implementation - I'm just happy at this point that young athletes get the chance to play football. Its a great sport.

Don't be surprised if the Norseman don't play a close game against Scecina or win. Northfield looks better and better every week. Scecina doesn't see the triple option on a regular basis. Could cause them fits on Friday night.

I'll never forget the year were there and the ref stood over the ball until the defense and chains were ready....maybe this was the same year. I couldn't belive what I was seeing.

Sometimes the ref crew is the problem. In a GS/HH not too long ago in the pre game meeting with the refs I told the white hat, "this offense moves quick, we watch you before we move, so don't forget to signal first down to us." His response was that it didn't matter because they can't move any faster than him. But, you aren't wrong. There are some crews that appear to have been doing this as long as they have had the program. This is why you should run 2 clips.

Kings 54-7 Tough break for the Norsemen. Scecina handily. I’d love to pick Northwestern.. But I can’t pull the trigger. 62-52 Braves. This game might take 4 hours. If going to the Peru at Rochester game, get there on time or you might miss it. Give me the Z’s after a focused week of practice…24-20 Manchester over Southwood. 34-8 Wabash over Elwood in 8-man. 32-12

Caston at Culver. Caston wins with a big game with North Judson looming North Judson gets home early with the clock running in the second half at Triton Same goes for Pioneer at SC. While not perfect by any means… After week 5, Sagarin comes into view enough to have a bit of idea when trying to predict games. Jeff’s computer likes Winamac by 10. NM’s defense has been pretty okay against some good competition. Pioneer had to at least work for their scores. I’m just not sure they’re good enough up front to move the ball consistently against Winamac. I see a fairly close/low scoring game. Tough to pick against Winamac in this one with the season momentum of each team to this point.

Oh, and on a related topic. Much like our politcal leaders, there needs to be an age limit....or test...or licencing or something. When the crew is so old and decrepit that they can't keep up with the pace of the game. Unfortunately, it is time to hang it up.

I know it can be frustrating for them when you get ID10T coaches who constantly step on the chains. I mean, how hard is it man!
