Says the guy who rarely types 140 characters of his own.2 points

Be fair. I never said it was justified. I said it was common.1 point

Didn't read the article again did you? https://time.com/5804477/justice-department-drops-charges-mueller-probe/ I doubt that prosecutors worry too much about being razzed by a defense attorney. If they are, then they shouldn't be in the business to begin with. Again, from the article, "Prosecutors vowed to continue to pursue their case against the 13 Russians who were named in Mueller’s indictment, along with the troll farm that Concord was alleged to have funded, the Internet Research Agency." I think "passionate" may be a bit strong a word. I tend to be a supporter of paying attention to what's going on and not acting like it doesn't exist. And, just so we're pretty clear, you seem to believe that this item means that there's no merit to any of the claims, indictments, etc. That's the kind of argument that folks who defend Al Capone probably made ... never been indicted for murder or anything else, other than tax issues. Obviously he's no criminal, right? While YOU may not consider Yevgeny Prigozhin to be anyone of interest, there's a reason that he's tied very closely to Putin and it ain't because he's his conscience: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-50264747 https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sm787 https://www.vox.com/world/2018/2/26/17044930/yevgheny-prigozhin-putin-mueller-troll-farm Of course, as I pointed out in another thread, it's ironic that you post a video complaining about the media "defending China" ... of course the latest talking points directly from the President himself ... as if that makes them somehow or another bad people or, God forbid, un-American , but you revel in attacking a card-carrying Republican, who served this country VOLUNTARILY in Vietnam and served as a Deputy AG/FBI Director/ Assistant AG under three different presidents.1 point

Well, for me as a fan had to be Snider vs New Pal in the 5A title game in 2015. Snider pours it on in first half and New Pal answers in second half. I really thought Snider would lose that game. Second favorite game, 1986 Snider vs Carmel, one heck of a matchup, I loved watching Dunbar run the seasons he played.1 point

So, when you come right down to it, this is a logical extension of a relatively commonplace taxation philosophy. You can certainly argue over whether it’s a wise, or even legal, exercise of the government’s power to levy taxes. But what you can’t argue is that it happens all the time, albeit in a different context and on a different scale. It’s the use of the term “bailout” that sets everyone’s teeth on edge. Form over substance.1 point

Interesting question. Isn’t any form of tax “relief” a bailout of somebody?1 point

Personally, I like public schools. Say what you want to say, but they do a pretty good job, other than pay teachers properly😄1 point
-
Spot on. I have long commutes to my office and don’t have the time, but frankly I prefer all of the advantages public schools provide.1 point
-
So those us us who cannot afford private school or are able to stay home with our kids because of a job supposed to do? That is why those option you give are not actually possible for an over whelming majority of people. Public school is the only realistic option for thousands of kids in Indiana.1 point

With life slowing down a bit, maybe a chance to get back to some good old-fashioned book reading. Whether it's from these lists or just one that you've had on the shelf that you just haven't cracked yet due to the push-and-pull of life: https://getpocket.com/explore/item/7-fiction-books-that-change-the-way-you-think?utm_source=pocket-newtab https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/mar/15/books-to-read-while-quarantined-coronavirus https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ariannarebolini/spring-break-books-to-read-self-quarantine https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/the-read-down/21-books-youve-been-meaning-to-read https://www.powells.com/25-books-to-read-before-you-die1 point

I don't necessarily believe it is the constitutional purview of government to bail out industries, extraordinary circumstances or not.0 points
-
As a general rule, I agree. However, Emerson said “a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.” It’s foolish to pretend the normal rules should apply in extraordinary circumstances such as 9/11 or a pandemic.0 points

Maybe if the airlines had actually you know, "saved for a rainy day" instead of spending their profits on stock buybacks they wouldn't be in this mess: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/airlines-and-boeing-want-a-bailout-but-look-how-much-theyve-spent-on-stock-buybacks-2020-03-18 But no, now practically every major U.S. industry looks to Nanny Government to bail them out circumstances largely caused by their own bad decisions. Quite a lesson this practice is teaching the youth of America.0 points

That is a somewhat vague statement. And the federal government frankly has no business being involved in education. The U.S. Dept. of Education is an unconstitutional entity.-1 points

Well Bob, you got your wish. As I drove by the Mulberry convenience store/gas station earlier this morning the table was empty and the surrounding chairs were turned up on top of it. Somebody must have snitched to the county board of health. Was it you Bob? And this little incident brings forth some interesting questions: 1. I'm hoping these old men/farmers, obviously long time friends, are currently meeting in another place, perhaps at one of the men's kitchen table, to drink coffee, swap stories, and tell lies. Should this kind of home assembly be banned during this current "crisis"? 2. Let's say John & Martha are getting stir crazy practicing "social distancing" during this "crisis" and decide to have a Saturday night dinner party. So they invite a bunch of their friends to their home, and a number of them accept. So later that evening the party is going well and a local LEO drives by John & Martha's home. He notices that there are an unusual amount of vehicles parked outside the home for that time of day so he decides to investigate. After he discovers the existence of the dinner party should he immediately demand all parties disperse? Should he contact the local Board of Health and report an infraction? Should John & Martha face at the very least some kind of misdemeanor charge of planning and hosting an unlawful assembly?-1 points

I disagree, Mr. Robert. Isn't the USA currently severely mismanaged by the "haves"? And why do you believe homeschooling and private/parochial/religious education would accelerate this trend?-1 points

Yep, that would be you Chief. All insults and zero content. Oh, but you do specialize in re-posting insipid facebook memes. So I guess you have that going for you.-1 points

Perhaps when Mr. Trump gets his new tracking app for all U.S citizens we will all be able to see at glance when and where this kind of "community endangerment" is occurring and the community can react in kind:-1 points

I assume you are talking about the ubiquitous tax abatements local governments dole out like candy to industry and businesses? Of course it is a form of bailout, and we the taxpayer have to ultimately pay the difference.-1 points
