Haven't been on here in a while, so here are my thoughts on a couple things: It's almost impossible to compare GS and Memorial. Historically, Memorial is a program with almost 100 years of football history, while GS wasn't really relevant until Hart came to Ft. Branch. The Hurley vs Hart series has been good, with really only 2 games being over before half. The 2012 game was great, with Scheller diving into the pylon in OT. The 2013 matchup over at Harrison was a good game. The 2016 game was competitive, there will always be the controversy with Sellers out at QB. The 2017 matchup might've been the most anticipated of the series, and it didn't disappoint. The 2018 and 2014 matchups were very similar, one team was just head and shoulders better, GS was loaded in 2014 and probably Memorial's best team ever in 2018. The argument about Memorial's "sub-par teams" is irrelevant, the 3 times GS won they had the better ball club, and the 3 times Memorial won we had the better ball club. Titan32 was right about GS giving us our closest games over that 2 year stretch in 2016 and 2017, aside from the regional loss in Spin City in 2016. Now, in regards to this year: 1. GS was really GOOD, probably the best team from SW Indiana since the 2018 Memorial team. 2. The transitive property argument holds no weight in most sports, let alone when you're talking about 16-18 year old kids. 3.CalPreps is not accurate. Examples: (2018 Memorial vs Chatard) CalPreps had Chatard favored, and we all know how that one turned out. (2017 Memorial vs Lawrenceburg) CalPreps had Lawrenceburg favored. Final score 56-35. 4. "Memorial would have been just another bug on the windshield this season." Strong statement to make about a program that was a half way from their 6th trip to LOS in 14 years. 5. Hypothetically, if this matchup did happen, I think GS wins by a 7-10 points. Now before every GS poster on here comes for my head, hear me out. Memorial would've matched up with GS pretty well. Memorial's O-Line was big and physical in the trenches, paired against GS's weakest defensive position group, could've allowed some space for Brodie and Tyler to get into the second level. GS had some undersized DBs, while Memorial had some bigger WRs. Memorial scored on some big plays both offensively and on special teams, GS was prone to give up some big plays. GS offensive did have some promising drives stall out against better teams, if Memorial defense forces a couple stops then we've got a ball game. 6. Alas, we didn't get to see this game. The Titans were a really good football team all year long, and in the tournament they beat whoever was put in front of them, including one of the better State Finals games I've seen, on their way to blue medals and shiny rings. While the Tigers fell 2TDs short to the best team in 4A and another trip to LOS. 7. Lastly, the murmurs around the Titans' State Title run with Chatard and Memorial being up in 4A are pointless. GS was great all year and could've beat any team in 1A-4A and the majority of teams in 5A and 6A. Though, the possibility of more of these matchups in the near future is dim, the seven year run was fun to watch and highly anticipated by both fan bases every year. The series isn't over, just taking a brief hiatus. Johnson is one of the better football minds in the state, might be unrivaled south of Indy. I will say, theoretically, with USI going D1 and the possibility of a football program within the next decade, John Mark Hall may have to make a trip over to Lincoln Ave for a possible DC or even HC position. Last thing, will Peyton Guerzini ever graduate, feels like the kid has been a stud at Castle forever. He's like the Brad Davison of the SIAC.

Clemson is nowhere close to being considered a blue-blood in college football. Not even close. They are an elite program right now but not even in top 15 or top 20 all time. Duke has been good at basketball a lot longer than 2 decades. K was there nearly 40 years.

I like the idea of a jamboree again. With the schedule opened up to summer scrimmages, players get enough of that controlled look. It would be fun to see how your team stacks up in real game time situations before the first game of the season. Back when the controlled scrimmages took over for the jamboree, summers were not open to football activities and competition. Bring back the Jamboree!!

A total of 27 jamborees were played on Mishawaka's field. The "jamboree era" began in 1968, took 2 years off ('83 and '84 when the cluster system schedules eliminated the jamborees) and ended after the 1996 jamboree when the IHSAA allowed a 9th regular season game to replace the jamborees. The first 6 years ('68 - '73) featured Mishawaka, Marian, Penn and St. Joe. The next 7 years ('74 - '80) included the four original schools and added Elkhart Central and Elkhart Memorial. These years saw near capacity crowds for the Mishawaka jamboree (around 8,500). IN 1981 and 1982, Elkhart Central dropped and Warsaw was added. When the jamborees resumed in 1985 after the end of the cluster system, the Mishawaka event had only 5 teams --- the 4 originals and Elkhart Memorial. Warsaw joined those 5 in 1986 and for the final 11 years of the "jamboree era" ('86 - '96) the event featured Mishawaka, Marian, Penn, St. Joe, Elkhart Memorial and Warsaw. Always happy to provide way more information than anyone wants or needs. 😜

I have completed my 1st step of the "Blue Bloods Spreadsheet". It's currently 8 pages and has a lot of data in it so I'll try to cover what it does and does not do. Each class has a page tab at the bottom, with the current class assignments sorted alphabetically. (Thanks to the IHSAA for reclassifying after I started working on this). 😒 On each page it lists all the success factor points each team accumulated per year using the current success factor formula since the all in tournament started in the fall of 1985. It then totals all the points and gives you a yearly average. You will see yearly averages and points earned for the following time frames - ALL YEARS, 1st 28 years 85-2012, past 25 years, past 20 years, past 15 years, past 10 years, past 9 years- the addition of the 6th class, and past 5 years. It does not care what class points were earned in, you carry all earned points to your current class. Unfortunately I don't think the data is sortable in it's current form without copying it into a new spreadsheet, which is what I did for the 6A leaders page. This is due to how many changes and merges of the cells so I apologize for that, but I plan to eventually do a leaders page for each class. Finally I'm sure there are mistakes, errors or omissions. I've probably fat fingered some info into cells it does not belong, or screwed up a formula somewhere. If you see something questionable, let me know and I'll research it and get it corrected. Also some schools have not played in every tournament or new schools have opened since 1985 and I'll have to make adjustments for them in some of the formulas. I've done some, but not all. Carmel didn’t disappear in the 90’s, they just didn’t win any state titles. They won multiple sectional and regional championships and subsequently had multiple semi-state appearances. That decade of “disappearing” is a decade of excellence for all but 5 or 6 programs in the state. Just goes to show you how good Carmel has been for so long. But yes, good topic and discussion nonetheless.

Looks like one benefit of a jamboree is you get a look at more than one offense or defense. Yeah only one quarter's worth for each, but still, full contact and full speed vs. two different schemes. I like it.

"Lol" was my reaction as well. It just kind of left me speechless. Giving credit where credit is due, his list included some really good programs. I just don't know how you can include the likes of Bloomington South and Center Grove, but not Luers, Dwenger, and Snider. At the end of the day, I think there are approximately 25 programs that could make a case for Blue Blood status. The best post I've seen so far is the spreadsheet that was derived from a point system. 1. Chatard 2. Cathedral 3. Luers 4. Carmel 5. Ben Davis 6. Roncalli 7. Dwenger 8. Penn 9. Sheridan 10. Hobart 11. Warren Central 12. Ritter 13. Snider 14. LLC 15. Center Grove 16. Jimtown 17. Andrean 18. Mater Dei 19. Tri-West Hendricks 20. Northwood 21. Evansville Memorial 22. Adams Central 23. West Layfayette 24. Franklin Central 25. Columbus East That's a pretty good Top 25 if you ask me. Some will ask where Bloomington South, Pioneer, and New Pal reside. All three would be included in a Top 30. Zionsville comes in at 32, Lowell at 35, and Heritage Hills at 36. I guess we can all look at the ranking and come up with our own conclusion as to who is a Blue Blood and who isn't.

As a player, then coach, now official, jamboree all the way. True preseason game/s.

Jamborees were fun to play in as a player. As a coach I prefer scrimmages. I know in the scrimmage how many snaps of offense vs. defense we're going to get. That isn't the case in a jamboree. A quick score or a turnover and your team will spend much of the night on one side of the ball.

Because this won't cause a race war. This is damaging against the left's narrative. If the left didn't have double standards, they wouldn't have any.
