These new turf fields for baseball and softball are all the rage. Being the "get off my lawn" guy that I am, I don't like it.

Still remember during an IU game last season, Joel Klatt put it best. Programs like IU will be more like a minor league program. Guys will sign and play with the hopes of a better offer after a year at the D1 level. Guys who are not starters in those programs will move to a program they can become a starter and prove their value. I don't envy a coach like Cignetti. His team will be more competitive than IU has been, but to what end? When key players can transfer easily.

Beat me to it. The have nots are slowly beginning to fade away.

K/P Bryce Taylor of Bloomington South has committed to IU. His junior season was cut short by a broken collarbone.

I really think that space limits the seating for Snider. 6,000 would be ideal when Snider plays good teams, when they play a team like South Side, 1 lawn chair would be enough for South Side’s fans. This would be a great thing for Snider football and their fans to have a real home. It would also stop the embarrassment of FWCS insistence over the years of, by far, the top drawing public school in Fort Wayne not having its own field while programs like Northrop, Wayne, and South Side that can’t draw 500 fans get their own stadium. The utter, complete incompetence of the FWCS administration to draw this out for so long is shameful

All true, but the NCAA waited until the ball was rolling. They could have/should have done something years and even decades ago.

This verdict is a smoke screen. They’ll use this verdict to justify an “unbiased judicial system.” This gun charge is just the tip of the iceberg with this guy. They may even go as far as to use this to justify punishing Trump with jail time.

Why didn't he buy 3 tickets and get seated in the stadium?

I'm not so sure they got caught with their pants down. As I understand it, they had NIL rules ready that to implement until the Supreme Court made its decision in the Alston case. Members were on notice that enforcement could get involved in pay for play situations or if schools made payments in excess of full cost of attendance payments permissible under Alston, but, outside of that notice there was limited guidance. There is the cynical view that non enforcement was intentional to secure help from Congress once NIL started looking bad. The less cynical view is that the Court's decision in Alston and the signal sent by Justice Kavanaugh's concurrence scared the NCAA off from taking a more aggressive stance on NIL and recruiting––this is probably backed up by the preliminary injunction issued against the NCAA by the Eastern District of Tennessee in the case about NIL and recruiting.
