Social issues? Most of the kids at Tech and Washington are probably on school lunch programs, working after school to help support a single parent family. No time for school things away from class. And per some stats I saw, many don't even bother to go most of the time. Meanwhile the majority of the private kids are likely just the opposite. Just drive through any of the rich neighborhoods like up N. Meridian St and see all of the real estate type of signs giving free advertising to Cathedral, Brebeuf, Chatard, and the like. Sure those schools have a handful of inner city kids, mostly athletes that were given free rides to attend. I don't buy that Cathedral only has kids who applied. Not when I know of an athlete up here that was recruited to go there.

The official interpretation is “no.” So, if the cap comes off the runner, the ball remains alive. If it comes off another player, he can continue to participate without penalty. Think of it more like a towel, i.e., a legal accessory. If a player loses a cap, however, he has to come out to re-apply it. Or, he can play without.

1998: Homestead 27, Carmel 3 Carmel was actually pretty good that year. They had three prior losses, each by 3pts. Homestead was their fourth loss. Homestead beat a VERY good Snider team that year before getting wasted 35-14 by Rex Grossman led Bloomington South. That score shocked me, I thought the Spartans were going to take it.

One could also argue a school with 1073 kids doesn't belong in a tournament with a school with 5327 kids. Yet here we are...................

It could be. Just that nobody wants to face the reality that in a true promotion/relegation system "1A" and "2A' level programs equals pretty bad football programs, regardless of enrollment. That could make Johnny, and his parents, upset.

Basically*. Kids want to be in Band, Sports, Theater....they fill out a form in August. Total number of those kids is your "clearinghouse" enrollment. Someone smarter than me might have some better mechanics...I could be talked in to an average of last 2 or 3 years. My opinion (and thats all it is), is we should classify schools for athletics based on the number of kids in that school that will actually participate in things. One set of rules for P/P, Affluent publics, small rural schools, and adjust for a lot of things that people on both sides complain about. I think that and the SF create the best realistic system for Indiana. No multiplier, no separate class for P/P...my 2 cents, maybe worth that much. (*Not much different from how DOE counts students....whoever is there on "count day" is what matters.)

Per Poles, the plan was to ony play the starters 1 quarter. Thankfully, Flus made the decision to play through the 2nd quarter considering the offense had a slow start.

I can agree with the students/parents/economic situation making a difference and possibly making it easier on the teacher to produce different results. A parent can still point to those results and site a difference in educational opportunity. I totally believe there are good teachers in both areas. The education is different in results and possibly application, whether that is the environment or the program or a little of both. It's very much the rich get richer. I don't think anyone will perfectly solve that problem. It's something that we will always have. But Indiana has opened the door to open enrollment so they have created their own problem. You know what's funny? When students that don't play sports transfer you don't hear anything. I wonder if a school loses their best soloist in band if they deny their transfer?

I was told this is the only such rule in the Marion County publics. Why Streiff left long ago and why they've never had real traction in any sport besides tennis. They should be winning with similar frequency to Ben Davis and Warren in all sports with those numbers. If Coach Hart isn't in the school managing student athletes and test scores, he'll end up like the rest.

Kinda weird the most populated area in the state has the most ranked teams

Columbus North will return 21 starters so looking for a strong season. We were a young team of mainly sophomores and Juniors last season. They have grown and gotten faster so hoping that bodes well for the season.
