  2. Blackford was going to leave a few years ago and go to the same conference as Southern Wells and Jay County. Then Jay County backed out which caused Blackford to back out. A key to the top programs is the kids are buying in to what the coach(s) are trying to do. The kids are also held accountable for summer workouts and have great facilities. The bottom programs have struggled to get kids to show up for summer workouts and have had coaching turnover. Blackford has a coach that has had success at other schools and he has been at Blackford for a while now, but can't seem to get the kids to buy into his program. The way to fix it is to get kids and parents to believe in what the coach is trying to do.

  4. It's like minor surgery. As long as it's somebody else it's minor, but it's not much fun when it's you! Isolating is the hardest part of it. I'm an active person. Hope to be back in the stands next week.

  6. I've *long* been opposed to Friday night NFL/NCAA games, because Fridays are for high schools, period. As an IU alum and longtime diehard, I almost never miss watching a game ... except when they play on Fridays, and I've spent too many Fridays listening to Don Fischer on my drive home from a HS game to count in the last few years (and I love listening to Don, but I prefer to do so on Saturday afternoons). But the reality of the world is, between ESPN's 37 channels and FS1 and especially the conference networks (BTN, SECN, ACCN), they need inventory and football is really the only major sport left that drives ratings. While ESPN and FS1 don't *really* need the inventory (they can show baseball or something else), the conference networks basically exist to televise football (and to a much lesser degree, men's basketball) and they have a LOT of filler programming. They want to maximize their football viewing windows, and Fridays are a good way to do that - add in an extra night to keep the sponsors happy and bring in viewers in a way televising field hockey or soccer or the 367,196th rerun of Campus Eats won't do. And HSFB gets screwed. One thing I really appreciated was the last time Purdue had a Friday night home game, realizing its impact on the local high schools, they offered the high schools the use of Ross-Ade and had a double/tripleheader there the next day, thus not forcing locals to make a choice and giving the players a pretty cool experience of playing in a college stadium on Saturday afternoon. I see Edgewood, BHSN & BHSS were all home last week. It would've been a cool gesture for IU to do the same.

  7. Michael's an absolute gem of a person from a great family, and he's an incredibly good DL. I think being close to home was a real drawing card, especially with Isaiah already there.

  8. Can't really argue with the prediction but I am going with an admittedly "homer" call: MD 17 - 14 Good luck to both teams! No injuries.

  9. I may have ulterior motives rooting for might Manchester, but it's always hard for me to bet or cheer against a Ron Shaffer coached squad!

  10. LOL, Why don't we both keep winning, so we get an undefeated conference championship showdown in the final week!

  11. Tough week for the Titans @ home after winning 23 straight games at THE JEWELL. The South Warren Spartans are ranked 4th in the Kentucky High School Football Media Poll 5A division. On MaxPreps they’re ranked 9th in the entire state. Look for the Spartans to keep the ball in the hands of Three Star 6'3" 198lb Eastern Michigan commit Bryce Button. The Spartans have a big aggressive D line and crazy speed in the back half of the defense. The last three matchups have went like this: 2021 – at South Warren 42-7; Spartans win. 2022 – at Gibson Southern 28-24; Titans win. 2023 – at South Warren 45-28; Spartans win. (The Titans came roaring back in this one after giving up 3 special teams scores)

  14. I'm doing a bit better each day, but I don't want to contaminate that nice facility you have there. I'll be watching a live stream.

  15. That is some mighty big talk for a team that has barely won their first three games, and could easily be 0-3. The pupz better focus on this week.

  16. I think the big brothers in the wrc won't have an issue fielding their usual spring sports as well as boy volleyball The little brothers of the wrc would struggle to field track, baseball, golf, and boy volleyball imo Sunset ride?

  17. Well the game will be at Chatard so we don't have to worry about anybody needing to pat down @Lysander for wire snips. Only kidding should be another classic between the Irish and the Trojans.

  19. Yes. Though they are growing, Marion County is dying a slow death. The remaining HCC schools are suburban.
