  3. New Pal returns eight offensive and 10 defensive starters (although the one graduated defensive player is Michael Thacker, who might have been the best DL in the state), so I'm not sure last year was a one-off. They'll have a tougher go of it in 5A, though, with Cathedral likely in the same sectional. East Central won a sectional in 5A last year and played the eventual champs to a five-point game in the regional after basically graduating everyone from a team that won back-to-back 4A titles. They have a really good program. I'd put them on equal footing.

  4. This season HH should has earned the right to be the favorite this coming season on the Large side of the conference. That said, they will only have to play GS once this season, which will completely change the dynamic of this year's contest. GS returns a LOT (7-8 offense - 8 defense) and has the benefit of a tremendous incoming Junior class...ask anyone who got a piece of our JV squad last season, I could highlight a few of those players (a couple of varsity impacting rising sophomores on that list as well), but let's make them earn it first. GS takes a couple of steps forward. Will HH? . I also suspect that after all the Calpreps data is in, GS will be ranked #1 in 3A. I trust our friends in Blue and White will be watching us closely this season. Way too early rankings. Large 1. HH 2. GS 3. WASH 4. BV 5. MV 6. 6. My apologies on the position mistake. Would totally echo this for Lawrence County as a whole. Serious changes need to be made. Don't think this new "transfer portal" rule from the IHSAA starting June 1st is going to help either. Think you're a superstar? They end up at Bloomington South (Basketball and football have been hurt by this the last 3 years at BNL). Want to be a big fish in a small pond depending on the sport? Go to Mitchell, Shoals, Orleans, etc. Will be interesting who and when this hire is made. With girls basketball wrapped up at BNL, one would assume this is this at the top of the to-do list.

  9. interesting comment....what makes you make this claim about such a rapid turnaround? Appreciate your confidence...but a tad skeptical with your prediction.

  11. I do feel there should be, and hopefully will be, some sort of special circumstance rule this first year to allow for current Juniors to take advantage of the new rule.
