  1. I know it's possibly not something to make a topic of... but I know he was a member here are one point, prolly still was. He was an assistant for a while as well at Linton. But mainly he was a lifelong friend of mine, my partner in the radio booth for many years of Linton Football... including both those losses to Ritter in semi state... both his sons were Miner standouts.. Josh thru 2008 and Tyler thru 2016 winning the state in 1A. He was a fixture at all sporting events in Linton... but football was his love. He had been running the scoreboard at the Roy in Linton these last couple years. He himself was a terrific athlete at QB and RB thru 1983 taking the Miners to new levels that really set Linton into a football mentality. I know a lot of football coaches and former players in the area will know him... Unfortunately, he was found deceased in his cabin after not showing up for work. Apparently heart related. He loved his kids, loved Linton Football... Godspeed to you John Paul Meurer.

  3. I flipped from Playstation Vue to you tube tv last month as Vue is being discontinued in 2 weeks I believe, I haven't re upped my HBO yet because of that, but need to ASAP. Couldn't believe how hooked we both were in Broadchurch, we watch it with the closed captioning on as all British cast, sometimes hard to hear what they say, but way easier then Peaky Binders MUDA: MINDHUNTER WAS SO SO GOOD : I had never heard of the Atlanta kid killer until watching the last season As stated above, because of the HBO situation of my laziness, I hadn't finished season 2 of Succession, thankfully UNITED AIRS has a tremendous library on the plane, so I crushed last 4 episodes on my across the pond, then watched movies on the way back: Brian Banks A+ Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: Classic Tartino, loved it. Brad Pitt was excellent Then oddly, got into a Mission Impossible kick, watching MI 3 and MI 5, came home watched MI 2 HORRID: John Woo slow motion karate nonsense was awful, JJ Abrams in MI3 was stellar. I blame the MI series on the United Air policy of allowing 2 Stella's at a time until my kid goes.... that is your 7th..... I go still got 4 more hours honey..... then I got the look from Mrs......so you know what that meant.

  6. The North coach took over that team when they had not won more than 3 games going back to the 2012 season. In his first year they were 1-9. The 2nd year they were 5-5. The last time North had a better record than 5-5 was 2007. The 5 they lost were against Evansville Memorial who won the 4A state championship, Evansville Central who beat Evansville Memorial in the regular season, Evansville Mater Dei who won the 2A sectional, Bloomington South who won a 5A regional, and Henderson County KY who was 8-4.

  8. I disagree with Dean Wormer, fat, drunk, and stupid is a way to go thru life. Honestly DE, I tried to engage you, I've raised valid business concerns as well as taxpayer concerns, you refuse to answer any of it, you just want me to watch a stupid video. I don't know jack squat about passenger rail, but it's not hard to figure out. In order for mass transit to work, you have to have masses, which do not exist in flyover country. There used to be a bus stop in every little berg and a train station in every other little berg. Seymour was founded on a RR crossroads and named after the engineer who opted to locate the crossroads where it is, instead of in the already established town of Rockford. But those days are gone. Two income homes, an extensive interstate system, cars that become more reliable every day, safe predictable air travel, passenger rail just does not make business or logical sense, regardless of what some youtube video says.

  9. Plenty of studies on the economic impact of licensing, bottom line it costs the consumer more because it restricts the labor pool. Some studies indicate that licensing is particularly harmful to the lower income segment of the population. The OP is certainly an example of this. Young single mom and can't get a job based on some arbitrary law. Licensing comes in all shapes and sizes, for instance look at plumbers, you can have a large plumbing firm all working under the umbrella of the owners license. That doesn't guarantee your crapper isn't going to back up just like it did before they sent a flunkie out to fix it the first time. Then they're marriage licenses.....that panned out well. What is really interesting to me is as union membership has fallen dramatically, licensing requirements have risen dramatically.

  10. Political theater. As I have stated since this began, it's all a foregone conclusion. Weren't you paying attention in 1998?

  11. So without Amtrak, we’d have to hitch a team to the wagon to get maw to the doctor in the big city? What about all the rural areas Amtrak doesn’t serve, what about those poor people, how will they connect to the wider USA. In southern Indiana we have to either get to Indy or Louisville to get on a Greyhound to get to a train. Or you could just stop at the airport and get where you need to go cheaper and before the bus even gets you to the train. Amtrak in the northeast corridor seems to make sense to me, gets cars off of already congested roads, and they have the masses to support mass transit. This isn’t the 19th century, the US taxpayers don’t need to be supporting people’s travel.

  12. I think this change could help to turn the tide at Pike Central. More of the same at Washington I am afraid...they have plenty of kids...hopefully they can get it turned around. Basketball is so popular there but I can remember some very good Washington football teams.

  13. Honestly the travel times don't bother me. Any rational individual should know what they are getting into if they choose rail over plane travel. I can see that the romanticism and more leisurely pace of traveling across the country by rail can be an attraction to certain individuals, but why should the federal government and the taxpayer have to pay for it?

  14. I never understood the deal with the pens. Knowing what we know about government waste those things are probably procured for about $100 a pop or so. How many thousands of taxpayers dollars has that wasted over the years?

  18. https://www.cato.org/publications/commentary/counterpoint-be-skeptical-about-census All I answer on a census form, and have done so for several decades, is how many individuals currently live on my property. Have yet to receive a phone call or knock on the door from the Census Bureau or DoJ. I urge everyone else to do the same. All the other information the CB tries to gather is frankly unconstitutional.

  19. You are welcome. Also don't keep your gold in something like a bank safety deposit box. Keep in something like a heavy duty gun safe, or bury it in strategic locations that you can find quickly when the need arises.

  22. Sure, if that license is granted by a private, non-government entity. You still haven't given a good reason why it has to be government in the licensing business.
