  1. Yep. As I have mentioned many times before, schools like BD and Warren will continue to remain relevant via enrollment advantages but every other metric is pointing to the ‘burbs.

  2. This topic intrigued me after seeing that IU basketball was still considered a Blue Blood. A Final Four appearance in the last 20 years kept their status in tact...........until now. They've officially dropped off the charts. Who are the high school football Blue Bloods? What qualifies a team as a Blue Blood? What does a team have to do the maintain that status? The following is my perspective: Qualifications: One state title. Two semi-state titles. Five regional titles. Ten sectional titles. Maintenance: Last 15 years One state finals appearance. Two semi-state appearances. Four sectional titles. 1A: Adams Central, Sheridan, and South Putnam. 2A: Mater Dei, Memorial, Luers, Scecina, LLC, Linton-Stockton, and Pioneer 3A: Heritage Hills, Ritter, Southridge, West Lafayette, and Western Boone. 4A: Chatard, Roncalli, Reitz, Lowell, and St. Joe 5A: Columbus East, Dwenger, Snider, Cathedral, New Pal, Valpo, and Zionsville 6A: Ben Davis, Carmel, Center Grove, Penn, Warren Central, and Westfield Teams left out that surprised me: Avon, Hobart, Jasper, and Merrillville. Hobart gets back in with a sectional title any time over the next few years. Merrillville gets in with a state finals appearance, which will be more achievable at the 5A level.

  3. Dabo Swinney..."My transfer portal is right there in that locker room because if I'm constantly going out every year and adding guys from the transfer portal, I'm telling all those guys in that locker room that I don't believe in them, that I don't think they can play," Swinney said. "We're also not doing our job as coaches and recruiters if we're bringing in a bunch of transfers." This is the point I was making all along with Coan leading the way and Pyne sitting on the bench. It's not that I dislike Coan. I have a lot of respect for that guy and he's a very good player. I just felt like Kelly was overcommitted to a guy who was never with the program from the beginning.

  5. Here is the spreadsheet I created. I did it on the fly here at work, and copied the numbers from the IHSAA and John Harrells sites. But there could be some mistakes since I had to manually enter a lot of the info. It gives points for each title won, but it's formulated different from the IHSAA success factor points. It gives 1 point for Sectionals won, 2 points for Regionals won, 3 points for a Semi State, and 4 for winning the state. However it totals all the points for the same season, so if you win State, it's actually giving you 10 points. (1+2+3+4) State runner up would be 6 points (1+2+3) etc..... I didn't have the time to go year by year to just award points on the furthest step a team advanced to. FB SUCCESS POINTS.xlsx

  7. Interesting stat. It makes sense at the NFL level. The talent of the players is so off the charts, a team can prosper by slinging the football through the air. I think it's different at the high school and college level though. Especially high school. Maybe I'm an idiot, but if I'm a coach, I building my team around defense, ground game, and limited punting. How did Vince Lombardi put it? "There are four potential outcomes when passing the football, and three of them are bad."

  8. I was speaking of Pyne's opportunities when he got them. He looked very good, but Kelly continued his commitment to Coan. At least Kelly knew when to set Coan on the bench. Coan playing every rep against Oklahoma State was ultimately their death sentence. The regular season proved that Coan will go 3-5 offensive series in a row with stagnant offense. That's where Buchner and Pyne came in and helped the team tremendously. In fact, if it weren't for the performances of all three quarterbacks, Notre Dame wouldn't have been playing in a New Year Six bowl game. If it's not broke, don't fix it. Freeman/Rees tried fixing something that was already working, and as a result, have started the new era 0-1.

  9. Oh, I concur. I am saying both groups use the same "logic", but one group truly does care what is best for the student.

  11. The Irish will host Tennessee State in the 2023 opener, the first time ND has ever played an FCS school. Right now, Notre Dame is one of only 3 FBS schools that has never played an FCS team. This is all about ND providing a big stage for an HBCU school, and is the product of the friendship between 2 Ohio State alums, Marcus Freeman and Eddie George, the coach of Tennessee State. Going to be quite a big deal next year. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/notre-dame-football-schedule-irish-add-first-ever-fcs-opponent-will-face-tennessee-state-in-2023-opener/

  12. Contracts for 2022 spring sports hadn’t been finalized? BD has already come out and said they will continue to play them both…I’m betting most others will too. This whole thing was window dressing due to hurt feelings and to convince the public that the Marion County MIC schools were somehow victimized when in fact, they were just sick of getting their teeth kicked in. The only five sports in which anyone not named Carmel or Center Grove were a conference title threat in were boys/girls basketball, football and boys/girls track. Everything else was a bloodbath.

  14. Then why did you reply to my comment on the subject? You went on a rant about wage disparity and college tuition costs. Completely off subject.
