  2. Valpo is 3-2 vs Snider and 1-0 vs Dwenger. Snider is 2-0 vs Merrillville. The DAC only holds an edge over the SAC in head to head matchups, which are very few and far between. They don't hold any kind of edge over the SAC as a whole.

  3. I don't understand the need. Like.. they'd probably get considerably better attended games rolling in the MSC in football/basketball. In basketball/baseball they can schedule all those schools anyways... What do they gain by moving conferences?

  4. The Gary and Hammond pipeline into Merrillville appears to have have been closed. It'll be interesting to see what Seiss can do without a well defined athletic advantage.

  5. My comment was without regard to the opposition. I know a good football team when I see one.

  6. Looking back at the records of the last two coaches covering 23 years, the Linton Miners have averaged 10+ wins per season with only one losing season, a 5-6 record a few years ago. Going back even further to 1980, the Miners have averaged 8+ wins per season. True, not much post-season success since the move to 2A, but I would say that's a pretty good program.

  7. FC beat a .500 SC team by two scores last year. In 21 another .500 SC team beat FC 26-0. I stand by what I said and no, SC is nothing like Madison.

  8. https://reason.com/2023/07/11/confidence-in-higher-education-reaches-new-low/ I don't recommend a college education as a first option to most young people anymore. Instead a trade school, like for electricians, automotive technicians, HVAC, etc. are all a highly viable option.

  9. It seems to me that folks who come out of the other side of higher education often have more “book smarts” but much less “street smarts”…take that as you wish.

  11. So, could Penn go independent in football and stay in the NIC? It seems this whole idea of leaving centers around football. If the NIC downsizes I am sure they may not want to lay Washington or Riley but they did pick up Hammond Morton which is a lateral move. In 5 years or less I suspect SB will be down to 2 high schools with the way they are losing kids. Penn would have Valpo and Mishawaka. Carmel is replacing Cathedral and they could always get them back. They may want to keep playing Adams. They have Elkhart. NP and SJ would I assume continue to play them Marian may too. Many parochial schools in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, and KY are looking for games. I think they could work this out. Just a thought. Other sports can schedule more teams outside of the NIC so I have not heard a cry that all sports need to move on. The other key is does the DAC want to expand? Will their member schools want it or like it like it is?
