  1. History made tonight in Evansville. yeah I know it's not football related, but this deserves a post here. In the 106 lb. class, Julianna Ocampo gets a pin with 15 seconds left in the 3rd round to become the first female in Indiana history to earn a spot to compete for a medal. I had Julianna in class and have her younger sister now, and am so proud of her for accomplishing this. She quickly fell behind 9-1 in the 1st round. She battled back in the 2nd round to get the score to 9-5 with some back points. With 1:30 left in the match, she takes the lead at 10-9. Talk about persevering. Not only is she a great wrestler, she is ranked 7th in the nation in the 105 lb weight class, but she is a great kid as well. It was really cool too to hear the place erupt when she took the lead and even louder after she got the pin.

  2. It’s probably in the Annual Report somewhere. I know their General Counsel, Robert Baker, has a salary of just under $160K. If you compare the IHSAA to the parallel organizations in other states, you’d see that the IHSAA runs pretty lean in terms of staffing and salary.

  4. Got it. I was wondering how she was 7th in the nation and 6th in the state. Thanks for the education :). That comeback from down 9-1 had to be quite the scene. Gotta love high school sports.

  5. So to clarify, she was ranked 7th in the nation among girls? Also, didn't know there was a girls tournament.

  9. She lost to Royce Malone of Monrovia by Fall in the QF, she will now wrestle Teagan Newell from Crown Point to determine who will wrestle for 5th Place or 7th Place. She is one tough young lady, and her match Friday night was an awesome display of guts and determination.

  10. She'll wrestle 3x today. Adams County genes on both sides. Her dad was a Bellmont wrestler and her mom's side are AC folks. A lot of athleticism on both sides.

  11. Yes. I think the full statement should be, “everyone wants to feel like they have a chance to win, even though they didn’t earn that chance during the regular season when they had the opportunity, despite substantial evidence that they have no chance to win––especially in football."

  13. I’ve seen Marion on film. We (TW) will be better competition than them for sure. And most likely better than Tech, Anderson and Richmond.

  14. The all-in only works under the mirage of the blind draw. Take away the blind draw and the need to allow every team into the postseason after being sold on some fairy tale dream of a new season disappears.

  15. I’ve paid zero attention to this story, I don’t know any of the particulars, nor do I care to. But the answer to anything changing is no, the knee jerk reaction is always the same, punish law abiding gun owners. Guns are a symptom of much larger societal problems, we’ve seen, guns (guns are easy, but also against public opinion can be difficult to obtain), vehicles, bladed tools, etc. Why don’t we look at what causes people to do such heinous acts? Guns are nothing new, guns have been around, how do we go from many students having shotguns and rifles in the school parking lot and nary a negligent discharge, to what we have today?
