  1. Agree with you here. It would be tough for FW schools to get on the schedule of the big Indy schools because all of their competition is local. You could potentially get Cathedral make the journey. Homestead, Carroll and Snider would all benefit from playing Cathedral, but so would a lot of Indy schools so given the choice Cathedral would likely stay closer to home.
  2. If teams want to compete it's what they have to do. Look at Cathedral, they travel to Ohio and play the best that Ohio has to offer. This is what has separated them from the competition, they are not afraid to play anyone regardless of location. You could possibly arrange for the game to be at a neutral site (Ball State would be a decent place for the Fort Wayne vs Indy P/P matchups.) Not wanting to travel and make everything easier is exactly what @BTF was getting at when talking about AD's in the SAC not wanting to change from the 10 team conference.
  3. It's about getting on the same level as the competition. Homestead, Snider and Carroll would benefit greatly playing some of the big Indy schools. 6A is and for the foreseeable future will remain the MIC vs everyone else. Teams like Luers and Concordia might not benefit from this as much because they are already playing biggers schools. Luers hasn't made much noise since 2012 I am sure they would be excited to play some teams outside of the conference that can make them better. Luers, Concordia and Dwenger could all schedule Chatard and Cathedral, Fort Wayne vs Indy P/P battles would sell tickets and make the Fort Wayne schools better.
  4. Homestead definitely has a chance to beat Westfield. I would have loved to see Goode come back, but Ormsby has settled into the QB role nicely. If they make it past Westfield I do like their chances of beating Elkhart, Penn, or Lafayette Jeff to advance to the finals. Unfortunately Center Grove will most likely await them from the South - if you haven't had a chance to watch them play I would highly recommend it.
  5. Not sure what this has to do with New Haven being competitive the the SAC, but clearly the best team wins the majority of the time. The fact that they lost to South Side most likely means we would have seen them go 0-10 this year in the SAC. It's not that they do not have talent, but they might be one of the most consistently undisciplined teams I have ever seen. If you get the right coach in there that can change that I think you could have a team that competes with the SAC. Until that is done, you would just have another team that is fighting to not finish last in the conference. Playing a tougher schedule has worked for teams in the SAC, but outside of the P/P schools and Snider no team has been successful in the post season and unfortunately this year will not be any different. Unless this is what you meant by best team or team with the easiest schedule. I think you would have to have a game at the end of the year for the overall SAC title. I do love the idea of playing teams outside of the conference, if some of the matchups listed above were to happen it would allow FW schools to see exactly where they are at in relation to the competition. Carroll, Homestead and Snider playing teams from the MIC/HCC would let them know what the next level of competition feels like before meeting one of them in the regional/semi state.
  6. New Haven struggles to compete in the NE8. They should without a doubt be the team to beat in the NE8, but other than 2016 they have been another stepping stone for EN or Leo. Putting them in the SAC would just see them go under .500 every single year. Location wise it definitely makes sense for them to be in the SAC, but from a competitive standpoint they would never win a conference title. Since 1994 they have won 0 NHC titles and 2 NE8 titles (1 of those being shared with Leo and EN.)
  7. Thanks didn't notice.
  8. There were some bad calls (mostly the unnecessary roughness) that gave Leo life and the lead late in the game, but Northridge shot themselves in the foot with holding penalties on big plays. Northridge's defense looked really good last night and had Leo not been given a first down on the aforementioned call I think they make the stand and this one goes into OT.
  9. EN was without their best player in that game who will make a monumental difference should they meet in the championship.
  10. North Sectionals Sectional 17- Hobart should definitely come out on top in this sectional. Sectional 18- Kankakee Valley and New Prairie should meet week 2. I think whoever wins that should win the sectional. Sectional 19- Leo/Northridge is a huge first week matchup here. Both teams have great defenses and want to run the ball. The winner of this should face and beat East Noble in the championship. Sectional 20- Delta none of the FW schools can compete with them. South Sectionals Sectional 21- Mount Vernon will most likely play Pendleton Heights in round 2, if they can escape that they should win. Sectional 22- Roncalli Sectional 23- Mooresville will have to battle, but I see them coming out on top in 23. Sectional 24- Jasper gets revenge and pulls off the upset to win 24.
  11. Could it happen, absolutely. Hopefully nobody would do something like that especially given what has happened this year already.
  12. Leo and Northridge is going to be a great game. Northridge has played some great teams this year in the NLC and Leo played one of the best teams that 4A south has this year in Mooresville. I think the Raiders have what it takes to beat Leo. Northridge 21 Leo 20 CC was overhyped at the beginning of the season (they need to schedule some tougher opponents to open up the season IMO.) With Zolman returning to the EN secondary Bolt will need to be precise and make good decisions. CC cannot afford to drop catchable balls like the first match up with EN. These are two teams that do not like each other so look for a physical and hopefully clean game. EN 28 CC 7
  13. Great player on both sides of the ball. He moves very well too. Had the pleasure of watching him in the EN game and he gives 100% every play. He won the majority of the battles with EN's biggest lineman (Chris Hood 6'8" 315.)
  14. Love some of the darkhorses. Homestead will most likely have to beat Carroll again (Snider will not be an easy first game, they have improved a lot since the beginning of the season.) This Homestead team would have been even more exciting to watch if Goode would have decided to return to the football field this year. Norwell has been impressive all year. One loss to a very good Leo team has me thinking they have a shot at making a run. Concordia when healthy has one of the most impressive defenses I've seen this year. They were able to slow down an explosive Carroll offense. They could present some problems to teams in sectional 27.
  15. Been meaning to get this done for awhile. Thanks for the reminder coach!
  16. I think Northridge has a very good chance of beating Leo in the sectional. Coach Wogoman has gone a great job since taking over the program.
  17. Check the post dates. You seem like a great person from what I've seen from you lately.
  18. Carroll at Wayne - Carroll by 28 Concordia at North Side - Probably going to be the best game this week. Cadets by 3. Luers at Snider - Snider by 14. Northrop at Dwenger - Dwenger by 21 Homestead at South Side - Homestead by 56
  19. Columbia City at Norwell Dekalb at Leo East Noble at Bellmont New Haven at Huntington North Columbia City at Norwell - Columbia City started off hot, but reached the difficult part of the NE8 and it doesn't get easier this week. Norwell's defense is the difference maker. Norwell by 14. Dekalb at Leo - Leo won't look past Dekalb, but Dekalb won't be able to keep up. Leo by 21. East Noble at Bellmont - Rough year for the Braves and it doesn't get any easier in week 9. EN by 28 New Haven at Huntington North - New Haven has a lot of issues, they should be competing for the conference title every year. Huntington North by 14.
  20. Just checked through Twitter and it looks like the offered to play Davison MI. No details on why the game wasn't played (it's not because Davison is scared of Elkhart.)
  21. They were not able to find anyone. Saw on twitter they offered to host or travel to multiple places with no success.
  22. Sectional 19 is a pretty interesting one. Leo and Northridge seem to be the teams to beat. Curious how the draw ends up in this sectional for sure. East Noble will also be a threat with the return of their best player last week you could see a monumental difference. SECTIONAL 19 Sect Class Overall Northridge 2- 0 4- 0 5- 1 Angola 1- 0 2- 0 4- 1 Leo 1- 0 3- 1 6- 1 East Noble 2- 1 4- 1 4- 3 Columbia City 1- 1 3- 1 6- 1 NorthWood 1- 2 1- 2 2- 3 Wawasee 0- 2 0- 3 2- 5 DeKalb 0- 2 0- 3 0- 4 Sectional 3 is another great sectional in the northeastern part of the state. Homestead and Carroll had a shootout with Homestead pulling away in the 4th. Not sure how Bart Ball is going to fair against any of the teams in this sectional. SECTIONAL 3 Sect Class Overall Homestead 2- 0 2- 0 6- 1 Carroll (Fort Wayne) 1- 1 1- 1 5- 2 Warsaw 0- 0 0- 0 6- 1 Fort Wayne Snider 0- 2 0- 2 4- 3
  23. Norwell is on a mission this year. If Norwell can get pressure like EN was able to do last week it will be another long night for Bolt.
  24. Bellmont at DeKalb ©, 7 pm East Noble at New Haven ©, 7 pm Leo at Columbia City ©, 7 pm Norwell at Huntington North ©, 7 pm Bellmont at Dekalb - Bellmont and Dekalb have both struggled this year. Someone is going to get their first win this season. Braves by 1. East Noble at New Haven - Both teams picked up much needed wins last week. EN by 21. Leo at Columbia City - Leo doesn't seem to be slowing down and CC was handed it's first loss. Leo by 35. Norwell at Huntington North - Norwell continues to impress. Norwell by 21.
  25. Concordia at Carroll - Carroll has too much offensive power. Carroll 49-28 Luers at South Side - Luers 35-14 North Side at Northrop - North 42-31 Snider at Dwenger - Snider is player better, but the Saints are on another level - Dwenger 28-0 Homestead at Wayne - Homestead 49-0
