  1. Reminds me of the NCC schools in pre-class basketball….. Lafayette Jeff, Kokomo, Richmond, Marion…. dominating sectionals for decades.
  2. Should never have come down to this. RUN THE DAMN BALL! outscored 31-10? What the hell!
  3. If you think Brownsburg is on a competitive level then you might as well give them the win…. just sayin’!
  4. I’m with you on Brownsburg. Carmel was so ordinary vs Avon. I get they didn’t need to really prepare, they didn’t need to respect Avon. But at no point in that game did Carmel’s defense rise up and say “enough is enough”. And their offense was minus a passing game. I know they are #2 for a reason, but I think the Bulldogs are a better team. Brownsburg 27 Carmel 17.
  5. This is like comparing the HCC to the MIC, teams like Harrison and Jeff continually fall short, in large part due to strength of schedule. Until these post season wins happen, playing “decent” and coming close in JV games are just excuses. It’s a huge hurdle to get over.
  6. Love for Eastside to get this one, but, you don’t bet against the Catholics!
  7. Westfield at Noblesville, 7 pm Fishers at Hamilton SE, 7 pm Carmel at Avon, 7 pm Brownsburg at Pike, 7 pm Center Grove at Franklin Central, 7 pm Harrison at Zionsville, 7 pm I was waiting for temptation to post his weekly predictions but I guess he is busy with muddy cleats, so here goes: Back in the day (yes, I’m going there) the evil Millers were known around the county as Noblestucky. All the schools, even little Carmel, hated them. Always won everything, or at least it seemed that way. Of course, that was the 60’s and Westfield didn’t have football. So that story is pretty much irrelevant! Fast forward to today and the ‘Rocks are state powers! Since this game is at Swanson Field, and monsoon season is still a thing, I think the score will be somewhat conservative….. Westfield 24 Noblesville 9 Mudsock Bowl II is much more intriguing than the 1st one, HSE is much improved and top 10 ranked. Fishers has also improved but the home team is just a little better. HSE 31 Fishers 17 I have long awaited the 1st ever matchup between my alma mater (Go Hounds) and the school where we’ve lived for 40 years and educated all 4 of my children (Go O's). Why couldn't this have happened in 2015, when Avon bowed out to eventual state champion Center Grove in 2 overtime’s at semi state? Or 2019 when undefeated and top ranked Avon laid an egg in sectionals and bowed out to Brownsburg? instead it’s 2021 and Avon is 1-8 and Carmel is 8-1. An obvious mismatch. Avon treats defense like it’s a foreign language. Carmel is, well, Carmel. Kyle Nedenreip of the Star somehow thinks Avon has momentum. He calls it a 38-28 game. He doesn’t want to offend any of his 3 dozen readers. I’m thinking Avon may score early and they may score late. Carmel 48 Avon 14 Brownsburg has had a very good season. They beat everyone they were supposed to beat, and played Cathedral and Westfield tough in losses. Pike, just like Avon, broke into the winner’s column in week 9. I don’t call that momentum. It’s time for Bburg to raise their game in the post season. Brownsburg 24 Pike 7 There is nothing to say about Center Grove that hasn’t already been said. But it is fun trying to guess how bad they beat up on their opposition! Franklin Central has made great strides this year and their coach knows how tough MIC champions are to play. Center Grove 38 Franklin Central 10 Harrison has a program on the rise. Zionsville wants to get back to Lucas before they return to 6A. I really don’t know how this one’s going to go. I guess I give the Eagles a slight edge because of a tougher schedule. This one will go down to the wire. Zionsville 28 Harrison 24 Thoughts?
  8. Whoa nelly! He’s not starting. Just going to be used more. Then see how it goes.
  9. What have you seen from Merrillville or Westfield that makes you think the Pirates can get over the hump? The Pirates sailed through the regular season last year (minus Chatard) and sailed through this year (no Chatard). Westfield again goes undefeated in a competitive HCC. This is like saying this is the year the MIC does not win it all. The odds are about the same for Merrillville.
  10. None of the students would want it. They wouldn’t even know what it was!
  11. Welp. Leave it to Avon to score 7 touchdowns and still end up on the short end. On a brighter note…. McCray 12 more catches, 230 more yards. He’s the state’s leader in receiving yards and it isn’t close. Already committed to Kent State…. might a P5 school be tempting him?
  12. No. They won’t be competitive with CG no matter how much they’ve improved.
  13. Zville 21 Avon 17 (The O’s break into the win column next week) Brownsburg 27 Noblesville 6 Westfield 31 Fishers 14 HSE 28 Franklin Central 14

Did you just tune in? They’ve been whipping everyone.
  15. Considering how long IU’s defense was on the field (35 minutes) I thought they played very well. The offense is just a continuation of last year…. zero running attack and a pocket passer that can’t run. It’s going to be 4-6 more recruiting classes before this thing gets totally fixed, but they will get there. On a side note, not impressed with Penn State. I don’t think they can beat Iowa or OSU, maybe only split the Michigan schools. I guess we’ll find out starting next week.
  16. This may speed up the exit strategy for Carmel and CG leaving the MIC.
  17. Mack was never going to be the “2” in that “1-2” punch. Nyheim Hines could start for a lot of NFL teams.
  18. Wouldn’t surprise me if FC tops Fishers, otherwise I’m in agreement.
