  1. Need a lot of help at 10-2 especially if your best win is USC. I see 3-4 losses on USC's schedule.
  2. It's a handicap. IU being favored at -6 essentially means the game starts 6-0 in IU's favor. IU needs to win by 7 or more to cover the spread while Indiana winning by 5 or less and/or an outright Illinois win means Illinois covers +6. A 6 point win for IU would result in a push.
  3. Xavier Scott, Illinois top corner and potential 1st rd pick, is out this week and potentially longer. Not sure a single injury to a non-QB player drives the line almost 3 points but I'm sure it has factored into the movement. Line had been steadily moving Indiana's way prior to the announcement.
  4. They didn’t when he built that program from the ground up. He was a very successful coach in Florida prior.
  5. I'm not too versed with New Pal's school make up, but if any kids were crossing county line they're likely coming from Warren or Franklin townships. As New Pal continues to grow so will the demographics. That's a good thing, I believe they are set up well for the long run.
  6. I'd be hard pressed to find a player excelling at the level of Branden Sharpe right now. It's a shame that juniors are ineligible for player of the year award.
  7. I don't know if the score will be lopsided, but do agree with you that IU wins by multiple scores. Stylistically, I think IU is a terrible match up for Illinois. Bert and Illinois are at their best as a ground and pound, ball control team. IU has been elite at stopping the run dating back to last season. I just don't see the Illini being able to control the ball and keep the IU offense off the field. Defensively Illini will be the best the Hoosiers have seen all year, and they'll get stops, but just don't believe they have the firepower to keep up with IU. 31-21 Hoosiers is my prediction.
  8. Bingo. I grew up in the Admirals 25 years ago and it was all LC (unless you went private). Don’t live too far from there these days but would venture to say a lot of kids living there going to a public high school are at either HSE or Mt Vernon.
  9. By-laws state consecutive tournaments in same class. Points reset once you move up or down a class.
  10. You need 6 points to move up a class under the under the new proposal. A state championship for New Pal only gets them to 4 points. They appear to be in 5A the next two years regardless of what happens this season. https://www.ihsaa.org/sites/default/files/documents/Tournament Success Factor.pdf
  11. And with my comments above, it goes without saying that Kyle Ralph is responsible for all that. All the credit in the world to him.
  12. Top notch feeder system all the way up to high school. Elite weight lifting program. And the community has fully bought in 100%. Don't know if New Pal will ever get as big as Center Grove, but it's the exact blueprint that Coach Moore used 25-30 years ago.
  13. Not sure I'd go that far
  14. Most went to North Central. One to Lawrence North. A few freshman last year transferred to Chatard. Will be a ripple effect that becomes more noticeable in the coming years.
  15. And to add on to that, as down as I am on this season, the future looks worse. Cathedrals' JV and freshman aren't very good and it's not because a bunch of underclassmen are playing varsity either.
  16. Only after Cathedral tried to give it away first. Marching with the ball up a TD until they fumbled it away.
  17. Think you'd be more inclined to see Warren kids heading to New Pal as opposed to Mt Vernon. Lawrence Twp has been hemorrhaging kids to Mt Vernon for quite some time now. Probably the best athlete to ever go through Mt Vernon (Luke Ertel top 50 basketball recruit) is a Lawrence Twp kid.
  18. As close to a lock as it gets. Bigger question is: with new two year rolling cycle, does New Pal bump to 6A after this season or next? There’s a very real chance Cathedral is in 4A after the 26-27 school year.
  19. As they should have. Brent Pry was outclassed in the second half in both week 1 and weeks 2 games against South Carolina and Vanderbilt, both totally winnable. I think he lost the locker room after getting outscored by 35 during the second half in a loss to Vanderbilt the week before.
  20. Could say the same thing about Ben Davis. Staggering that a school of that size is playing a freshman at QB.
  21. Lost several guys to NC. They are all sophomores starting for an extremely young NC team who has at least looked competitive through 3 weeks. NC will be a team to watch in the coming years, assuming they all stay put.
  22. Average at best QB play, no big play/homerun threats on the outside, and inconsistent line play has doomed the offense. Haven't scored a TD since the 1st quarter of week 1. Oh yeah, and committing a million penalties a game hasn't helped either. Defense has played well in spurts but still way to susceptible to the chunk plays and they are consistently put in a tough spot by a sputtering offense. There's a few wins left on the schedule, but may have to wait until next week against Southport. They may be back in 4A in two years if New Pal isn't bumped to 6A after the season.
  23. This is the worst Cathedral team I've seen in years.
