Lots of fans missed a tremendous offensive football game! It was the track meet that most thought it would be but much closer than expected, mostly because Lawrence North played their hearts out! The old saying is that speed kills, and the LN speed almost ended the season for the Irish. LN jumped out to a 21-10 lead in the 2nd quarter, but the Irish battled back a took a 24-21 lead at halftime. Cathedral led the entire 4th quarter but were only up 37-35 with less than a minute left, and facing 4th down and 10. After LN used their last time out, the Irish iced the game with a Danny O'Neil to Jaron Tibbs TD and a 44-35 win. This was truly survive and advance for the Irish! Next up is the sectional 6 championship game, as Cathedral will be at Lawrence Central for that one. It could be another track meet!

Another nice night for football! I will be good for this old fan to be up by the press box at Arlington! It's one of the best views in Central Indiana. I hope to see a lot of Irish fans, cheering the Irish on in the first game of the sectionals. GO IRISH!!!!!!

Jaron's a team player, no matter what team he plays for. If numbers are the only criteria for Mr. Football, the odds aren't good for him. Of course he did have a monster game in last year's 5A state championship game, 10 catches, 210 yards and a couple of TD's. I'm glad the Irish have Ayers and Wooten to help them win game. For Irish players, the most important numbers are the ones on the scoreboard at the end of a game, in all sports.

The Yankees, Green Bay and the Buccaneers, led by Tom Brady, all lose on the same day.

Ryan was just awful Sunday. It was just a "matt"er of time until the move was made. Lots of blame to go around, but Matt just threw the ball to the other team way too much.

Terry McLaurin is a pretty good NFL receiver!😉

That's your opinion. -
Irish win 44-21, but it wasn't a good effort today. Need to get the offense going, maybe trying to run the ball outside the tackles once in a while. Pyne still looks confused.
-
The Notre Dame offense is just stagnant! No misdirection plays, or very few, and Pyne is having a problem throwing over the rushing linemen.. Just not Notre Dame football!

It sure will be good to get back in the stands for the Lawrence North/Cathedral game at Arlington. North Central will be at Lawrence Central in the other game Friday night.

Irish up 30-7at halftime. Led 23-7 at the end of the first quarter. Pyne was targeted with no call. It was a classic target, helmet to helmet! He's back in the game

The Irish radio network just replayed the end of the 2006 Irish game against UCLA. It was the last regular season game I witnessed at ND Stadium. Quinn to Samardzija with 26 seconds left for the Irish win. We were sitting on the other end, but we celebrated anyway! We went to many games and bought tickets from someone on campus. There were no tickets anywhere to be found, so one of us stood in the ticket line while the other one scoured the area for tickets. We finally got to the ticket window, and the lady says, "how many?" and I said "two please." After paying for the tickets the lady closed the window and announced that tickets were sold out. We had just bought the last tickets. I look at the tickets and they are 8 rows up in the endzone, but we were in the stadium. As it turned out we were in seats next to the tunnel! We got to see and talk to players and coaches and it was the best seat I ever had in my 30 or so trips to Notre Dame. Ater the game, NBC interviewed the two heroes right in our endzone, and as they left the field after the game, we high fived Quinn and Samardzija! Good start for the Irish!

The field WAS cut down a bunch last night. And more people got out to see football on a beautiful night weatherwise. No down side to that, imho. -

They played poorly against Brownsburg, gave up two special team TD's, and the defense played poorly but has progressed since then. The loss wasn't totally due to lack of effort. -

When Cathedral laces 'em up they are there to win, regular season or playoffs. They care about every game. This discussion is never ending!😖 -

Air Horns for Football yes or no?
PHJIrish replied to Goose Liver's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I personally don't need any noise makers, as I have a very loud screaming voice. I have won hollering contests in my younger years while visiting my uncle's turkey farm in southwestern Indiana. Also, Cathedral had a parent, a few years back, that brought a huge metal pot and used a big metal spoon to make more noise than any air horn I've ever heard. -
Cathedral at Center Grove
PHJIrish replied to PHJIrish's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I've been thinking a lot this week, I know that's a scary deal, about dramatic Irish comebacks against the caliber of Center Grove. Now, I've seen a lot of Cathedral football games since my first one in 1955, and I can only come up with two in my old mind that come close to a comeback of last Friday's magnitude. The first one was against a very talented, and highly ranked Hammond High (iirc) team in 1988. The Irish were down 24-0 at the beginning of the 4th quarter and came back to win 26-24. I don't remember a lot of the details of the 4th quarter, but I was there that Saturday afternoon. The other game was at Cincinnati Moeller in 2011. I call this game the Moeller Miracle. It seemed that whenever the Irish played in Cincinnati, there would be clock issues at the end of the game, and the end would be played by the officials clock on the field, with no visible clock for the fans. Anyway, Moeller scored at the end of the game to take a 24-23 lead. We didn't know how much time was left, but we found out later that it was 17 seconds. Moeller's kickoff went into the endzone for a touchback, which I think was a mistake on their part. The Irish start at their own 20 with those 17 seconds left. Irish QB Corey Babb goes back to pass and just heaved it down the field, a Hail Mary, and the prayer was answered as an Irish receiver caught the ball on the Moeller 23 yard line. Again we, in the stands, don't know how much time is left, but later we were told there was one second left. The Irith then line up for a field goal. It just so happened that the normal FG kicker was excused from the team the previous week. Drake Myers, Irish senior, lines up for his first varsity field goal attempt from 40 yards. The kick was right down the middle and in disbelief the Irish won 26-24. Many also know this as the Drake Myers game! You never know what you're gonna miss, when you miss a game. I sure wish I could have been there last Friday night, but it was one of the few games I've missed in many years. I had eye surgery, cataracts, and just couldn't make it. I watched on the internet and listened to the Irish announcers on the radio. It was almost like being there! I hope I didn't bother the neighbors too much at the end! -
Another Friday night without football! My wife isn't going to like this!
