  1. Not this year we didn't want to travel!😉 Bloomington is difficult to get to with all the I69 construction. Bobby Cox would have been upset with the Irish's lack of travel this playoff, btw.😅 It's all good!
  2. Good effort. Game time is 7:30 Friday night. Hope to see you there.
  3. 1973, Bloomington High School, no North or South back then. Bloomington HS had won 60 games in a row and this was the first year for a playoff in Indiana. Bloomington HS almost had more coaches than Cathedral had players, or so it seemed. It was really cold that night as it usually is when you make a long playoff run. The opening kickoff was run back by Cathedral's Vince Gaughn and the Irish went out to a lead with another score shortly thereafter. Anyway the Irish won the game 32-28 and broke Bloomington's long winning streak. It was a fun ride back home! The Irish played at School Field the next week for the 3A championship. They were beaten by South Bend Washington 19-13 in a tight battle.
  4. It seems the IHSAA is trying to make up for the lost revenue from last year. Tickets for the semi state are $10 ea. with a $1.50 service charge for each ticket. It is through an IHSAA site, that everyone must use to purchase tickets in advance. There will be tickets sold at the gate, and this seems to be a thriftier way of gaining admission. That is if the gate price is the same as the advance price. Anyway, we'll be there! GO IRISH!!!!
  5. I believe that the Carmel/ Valpo game was in 1977 as the 1976 3A final was at CYO Field between Merrillville and Cathedral, the last football game ever played there.
  6. I was surprised that New Pal only brought about 40 players to the game Friday night. Is that a normal number for them?
  7. Maybe they should name 'em the Washington Georges.
  8. Win or lost this one, this is an embarrassment for the Colts. They had a 17-0 lead and thought the game was over, or so it seems, and now they're scuffling to beat the lowly Jags.
  9. I think if tOSU makes it so will Oregon, since the Ducks won the head to head in Columbus.
  10. DiNardo was a great player and a terrible coach.
  11. It seems that the Colts just have a hard time keeping the hammer down. They had a 17-0 lead a few minutes into the game and have had a tough time moving the ball since. They are driving now but for most of the 1st half they've have trouble moving the ball. Taylor is over 100 yards in the first half, most of those coming in the early spurt.
  12. Many years ago at a Cardinal Ritter/Cathedral game, a young Cathedral student said to his mother, "let's go home, this game is boring." His mother's reply, "the Irish are winning 35-0, that's anything but boring." Boring is in the eye of the beholder. Notre Dame just isn't talented, or deep, enough to compete with Georgia, Alabama or Ohio State. I just want them to win out and go to a warm place for a bowl game, where they can get some extra practice and start getting better for next season.
  13. I'm not interested in the Irish making the Final Four. I want them to improve week by week, and get a decent bowl game in a nice location. Not a clean game tonight, but a good game for the Irish. They left some points out there but had enough to win comfortably. The also had a chance to play some players who needed to see the field for experience.
  14. Nice first half for the Irish vs. UVA. They're up 21-0.
  15. I'm still glad I don't have to drive to Bloomington! I hope the weather is dry and I expect the Irish to not be as conservative offensively as they were last night. Also need to cut down the penalties, but we've been saying that all season.
  16. It's difficult to watch today's "performance!"
  17. Back to the subject at hand, I'm still impressed by the maturity of Danny O'Neil. He never seems to get to flustered after being sacked or a bad throw. I'm glad he'll be around for another couple of years. It'll be fun to watch him get even better.
  18. Stats from last night: (30) Cathedral Football on Twitter: "Irish Regional Victory! Cathedral defeats the New Palestine Dragons 23-7! Here is the games final Stats Update: https://t.co/1V8YIXH1lu" / Twitter IIRC, this is the only time the Irish have had more than one turnover in a game.
  19. Thanks. I finally saw the information on another thread. See ya there! Yeah. It seemed a bit out of character for the Irish.
  20. Well that answers that question. I was waiting to hear where next week's game was to be played. 👍
  21. Actually there were 4 field goal attempts as Gomez missed one. He doesn't miss many kicks at all. The offense played very conservatively last night. It is time to spread it around. I really believe that the wind had an effect on the passing game of both teams. I still haven't heard anything officially. Will the game next week be at Tech?
  22. Of course I hope you're right but the Irish have been tested these last two weeks, and hopefully it will be good for them to be tested. it's just good to be playing at home next week, especially for this old fan!
  23. I want to personally thank the New Albany Bulldogs for their win tonight. Driving to Bloomington is not a good thing as of now. It'll be good to be staying at home.
