I have not data to back any of this up, just gut reaction on my part, but it seems like the balancing of the schedules is playing too large of role. The Conferences are so big and I see some teams in the Top 15 that have benefitted to date from light conference schedules (IU, Penn State, Texas A&M, SMU, Miami, Ohio State) and others who have not (Bama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee). Maybe the SOS say otherwise, but looking at schdules it seems some of have had easier Conference slates.

Or the fact that FSU and USC who were deemed difficult opponents in the offseason are having terrible years and ND's schedule has been as soft as a baby's ass?

That week 1 win over A&M is by far their best.  Hell, Louisville lost to Stanford this past weekend.

I am a believer more so in NFL then college, but college it applies, each week is an independent event.   Variables change from week to week.   That is fact.

That is a fact but when you lose seems to hold more weight than whom you lose to.  The fact that Georgia was throttled by Ole Miss with a month left in the season gives them time to recover (a la Notre Dame).  There is a possibility that the OSU/IU loser this weekend is out of the playoff.  Losing early and then waiting on other teams to lose late so you can move up seems like the play.

If Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois in November, you bet your ass it'd be a disqualifying loss.

Wonder how long it will take College Football to get to the Hoops math problem when it comes to figuring out their tournament.   

If NCAA Football would weight games vs quality opponents like Hoops does then we don't see Alabama vs Mercer in freaking November.....and list goes on there SEC......

I think Hoops, you get penalized for instance if you are Purdue and schedule a Quad 4 game and win.   Like Kansas St is playing Mississippi Valley State University whom may just be the WORST collection of college hoopers yet again this year and yes I took KSU and the points which I think are 42.5.    KSU will get penalized come March for seeding purposes. 

Granted, 64/68 teams vs 12 is a difference, I get, but metrics still make sense like you said @temptation lets not penalize teams for playing quality opponents in September or November......

AND FOR GOOD GRIEF...SEC..... STOP WITH THE MADNESS IN NOVEMBER

Final, Oklahoma 24, Alabama 3.  'Bama has lost to Vanderbilt and a very bad Oklahoma team.  Maybe they won't be included in the playoff.  Stay tuned though.

I doubt it. They embarrassed everyone one else on their schedule. I find it comical thta radio personalities still bring up the the Northern Illinois loss. ND is playing as well as anyone in the country.

Yep!  In fact, the SEC had a "let's keep our mouths shut day" Saturday.  But they probably won't.

Does it really matter if you lost to the worst team on your schedule if you follow up by beating, more like waxing, ten better teams? The haters can say what they want, but they pass the eye test and have a good as a shot as anyone to win the whole thing.

Alabama still in the hunt with 3 losses, and a game left with Auburn.  No one should be surprised at that.  Even if they lose to Auburn they will still be ranked in the top 20, that's just how it is.

Georgia Tech 10, Georgia 0, 4:40 left in the half.

Georgia Tech drove almost the length of the field, from their own 4 yard line to inside the 10 and settled for a field goal.  They are up 20-6.  That drive ate up a lot of time!
