Martinsville 34 Bloomington South 21 (end of 3rd)

South has the ball deep in Arties territory to start the 4th.

Nice finally Gabe opens up the playbook a bit with the wheel route td. 34-27 martinsville

Yes. They seemed to be pretty careful in the play calling with Combs.

I'm sorta disappointed in 3- 4 d coach runs I mean clearly move a guy up martinsville has won this on the ground so far . So predictable hard to watch 😆

Bloomington South 35 Martinsville 34 (0:44, 4th)

South scored to take the lead on a nice drive with just 44 seconds left in the game with Townsend scoring on a one yard run.

Martinsville 41 Bloomington South 35 (Final)

Incredible. South let the Arties go 80 yards with under 44 seconds left in the game as they lost a heartbreaker. The Arties scored the same way at the end of the first half. South's young secondary has a lot of work to do to shore things up. Martinsville's experience as well as their big o-line were the difference in the game.

Still, the Panthers had no business losing this game the way they did.

bhss 35.

South d made Martinsville look like all stars. No way .  Good game for the arties.

Two starters back from last year (one on the front seven and one in the secondary) on defense really showed. The Arties wouldn't have been able to open the holes up against last year's front seven. There's no such thing as a good loss, but this game was kind of a lessons learned situation for a young South team and the coaches have to take a good hard look in how they managed this game.

Martinsville has a good team . I'm not extremely impressed . Throw in the blocked punt for the td and an atrocious south secondary with the two late drives at the end of halves and well this was the result.  I think there are some 2a teams that have better secondaries than that. The panthers looked athletic and had size but they were scattered and scared in the secondary.  Martinsville qb threw 2 picks isn't like he was far and away better . Gabe Johnson runs a 3/4 I have never really liked that d. Martinsville had 5 or 6 guys on the oline and a fullback/slot up front vs souths 3 with sometimes a olb rotating up.  Gotta make  changes  with the young  personnel they have .  But yeah hope they learn from this one. At least they didn't give up. Would have been easy down 14 .

The way the Panthers responded after the Arties recovered that on-side kick was a bright spot. It came after the Arties had just ran the ball down the Panthers throat for a score in the 3rd.

The Arties are going to have a good season, but I agree that they are not that dominate of a team. As you pointed out, their QB is certainly capable of some really bad throws, but he came through at the end for them to pull this game out.

Yeah they didn't give up.  Loss like this with all things considered doesn't bother me a whole lot. But seriously if they would have had another d lineman we could have at least forced some 3rd downs in the second half. Nope we just let them run 3 vs. 5/6 at the line of scrimmage . No doubt who is gonna win that battle especially with a rb that gets a nice speed up before facing any resistance. I truly believe a coaching decision that would have brought up another d lineman could have won this game.

Brownsburg 30, Cathedral 14.  Brownsburg is good!  They took advantage of all Cathedral's weaknesses.

If Brownsburg can ever figure it out come playoff time, watch out

The game has been called Final at the Half.

I'm curious as to some games were called final, a few called no contest, and the rest will be resumed today (Saturday)

Not all areas dealt with lightning. Those that did if it wasn’t competitive and there was long travel it was likely called final at half. Others that did finish today.

LCC and Ritter never made it out of the first quarter.  If you look at Harrell's, it's as if they were never scheduled to play, despite the fact that it was 10-0 LCC at the time of postponement.  Both of there schedules show no game this week.

Ritter probably got the best deal out of that decision.  I think LCC only touched their own territory three times, actually three plays, in the first quarter ... their opening kickoff to Ritter, the kickoff after their field goal, and the kickoff after their touchdown.

A big game like New Pal/Decatur Central was called after it was 21-all at the half. Both teams are in the same general area, so why couldn't they have played that game out today instead just calling it a no contest? I was kind of looking forward to see how they game was going to turn out.

Could be a lack of officials as some do other things things on Saturday

I think they have a lot of returners from last year. That is usually a good thing.

Which is why them getting hammered last weekend was so surprising.

Same for Franklin Central vs. Roncalli, called no contest after halftime. Game was not tied. Travel not an issue.
