Let’s discuss the conundrum of Warren Central. Their best win is Snider yet they are #6. Who are they beating in the top 10? 20+ turnovers in 6 games. Lawrence North is up next week and I see a loss coming for Warren. Hey, maybe they prove me wrong, but LN just pounded Ben Davis and dropped 58 points on them while Warren squeaked by BD by 3 points in double overtime. Very interested to see this game

I’ve got em 6th which is WAY lower than any other poll I’ve seen.

This week tells me everything I need to know about the Warriors.

Let’s be honest, the other polls don’t know 🤬

I mean, I am a poll of ONE.  They are a compilation.  You’d think any bias of any kind would be negated or offset and that it would balance out.

They are damn good and have an amazing defense…but I just can’t imagine one of those top tier teams failing to capitalize consistently when they are given the ball frequently.

It’s week 7.  Teams are what they are at this point.  Warren’s offense will not get them past the regional unless something changes drastically.

I had tons of respect for Plainfield (not as much as the other polls I mind you) after 5 weeks and Decatur Central ran em the field on their homecoming yesterday afternoon.

DC had to have underestimated (not making excuses) what has turned out to be a damn fine team in Columbus North in week 1…

They, along with Fishers, seem to have put their head scratching loss behind them and are playing great ball right now.

5A is a weak class.  There are better teams in 4A.  DC has 5 good skill players.  If you get a whole team doing their job, then 5 guys aren't going to win a football game.

Stated perfectly. If Warren continues to turnover the ball 3-4 times per game as they are now, really good teams will make you pay. I am not sure if their offense is even average, I would put them below average. Defense is great for sure, but that alone won’t win them the state title

If the winner of the Penn Elkhart game pushes either team into your top 20, as you said in a different thread...does that put Penn at 26?

They’d often be better off punting on 3rd down and putting their defense back out there.

No lie.

#72 Greg Meaney was a heck of a lineman...will always be remembered being thrown in at fullback and being on the receiving end the Captain Insano powerbomb courtesy of the legend #9.  Very unfortunate for what was actually a stellar career at the University of Louisiana.

From what I saw in Week 1, they had a lousy punting game. It actually worked in their favor. They went for it on a normal punting situation on 4th and ultimately scored the tie breaking touchdown.

Pound for pound "weak"? I've got 5A's top ten and 4A's top ten in a crap shoot. Gimmie 5A if I've gotta take one.

Good afternoon Sir. Do you have any idea how many of these football programs utilize a high quality end zone camera, such as the HI-POD X31?

guys late to the party

5a isn't objectively strong or weak this year, pretty neutral in comparison to most years

the 5a is weak statements were due a few years ago and you missed the deadline.

Where do you have Ben Davis? Using that rational, a 1-5 team that has zero quality wins shouldn’t even dream of sniffing the top 25

Ben Davis should not be in anyone's top 25 at this point. It's not the year for the Giants. Hoping they can get it together, but they're just trying to salvage something right now.

They need to win out and win a Sectional game to get back to .500, and they've only been sub .500 once since 1986.

The consensus was that it was weak when Snider and Mishawaka were still there.

snider was there on a down year*

What makes 5A better this year than last? Snider's gone, Mishawaka is gone, and Valpo is down. Arguably the three best teams in the north last year.

I would say the 3 best teams in the state in 5A last year…

I didn't say they were better or worse than last year, i said in regards to most years they aren't particularly up or down

now two years ago I argued that the entirety of 5a was down bad, and I was right.

However as I am a fair individual you will find no post of mine from this season or last season calling 5a down.

I guess it really doesn't matter. I get tired of the clowns who keep bringing up that 4A is better than 5A. They're beating a dead horse. It was an interesting debate a couple of years ago, but it's time to move on. In the end, 5A's Top 32 obliterates 4A's Top 32. All 4A has going for them is their top six or seven. 5A is stronger in the 8-10 positions, which is why I give them the nod. I'm feeling like the old BTF at the moment, this could get ugly. In fact, I might just opt out before my language earns me -10,000,001 status.

I am not 100% sure on the 8-10. depending on what top 10 we are looking at. If given 5A Bloomington North, Bloomington South, and Whiteland vs 4A Brebeuf Jesuit, Greenfield Central, Evansville Reitz. I might take 4A in 2 out of 3.

Nothing is 100%, and in this case, it's close. I'm not sold on the Bloomington schools, especially after laying an egg last year at semi-state.

Like I said depends on the Top 10. The one I find most accurate Calpreps is down right now. If looking at Sagarin.

1. New Palestine Vs. East Central - I definitely could say pick-em but EC graduated a lot from last year

2. Chatard Vs. Decatur Central

3. Columbia City Vs. Castle

4. Roncalli Vs. Concord

5. Martinsville Vs. Laff Jeff - Pick-em

6. East Noble Vs. Merrillville

7. Mishawaka Vs. Plainfield

8. Brebeuf Vs. Bloomington North

9. Greenfield Central Vs. Bloomington South

10. Ev Reitz Vs Whiteland - Pick-em
