Two questions

1. Are they using the collegiate hashes?

2. Are they using the collegiate goal posts?

I guess the same could be said of games at Marian. I’m just jealous there is no comparable collegiate field in SW Indiana.

1. Yes

2. Yes

I really like playing at the Butler Bowl, but I don't care much for the $10 charge to park in their parking lot.  Other than that the sight lines are good with no running track around the playing field.

Close game either way. Roncalli with the upset.

If Cathedral doesn't win by at least 3 TDs I'll be mildly disappointed.

I have to wonder how much rivalry feel this game is actually going to have. First meeting in 6 seasons and the first time these two have played each other in the regular season since 2010. Roncalli's last win vs Cathedral game back in 2006 in a two-day affair.

They played last year.  Cathedral won 42-0 in 2023.

If they don't have hashes marked on the field, the crew should place the ball 3 yards outside the hash if it's a hash spot.

I'm not a well known handicapper by any stretch of the imagination. I was thinking trap game.

Doubtful with the Victory Bell on the line and Coach Peebles being a Cathedral graduate. He will make it very known how important keeping the Victory Bell is in the rivalry.

Catholics vs. Catholics is usually hard hitting and fun football.  I sure hope that describes tonight's game at Butler.  I hope to see a lot of Irish fans at the Bowl tonight.  And the weather shouldn't be a factor tonight.  The last two times Cathedral has played at the Butler Bowl, it has rained.

Cathedral 35, Roncalli 6

I'm not sure if the Irish had a letdown or what happened, but they looked quit ordinary offensively, except for a couple of touchdown passes.  And sadly Roncalli has decided that this was the last game between the two schools for awhile.

100% NOT surprised by this. It is a shame, but I am not surprised.

You have to go back two decades to really find any competitive games between these two. I doubt Roncalli ever had any intention of extending this series beyond a home and home.

There will be no letdown in this game.  This is a big rivalry and both teams will be made aware of that.

It's a big rivalry game because they meet in the playoffs sometimes? Help me out here. I'm far away and don't know any better.

You said it best.

Cathedral 14 State Championships

Roncalli 10 State Championships

Started out as Cathedral vs Sacred Heart changed to Cathedral vs Roncalli

The K of C Victory Bell only gets exchanged in regular season match-ups. Classic North vs South to it.

You only have to go to 2018 for a competitive game between them Cathedral 28 Roncalli 23. There have been years where it is not competitive. There have been plenty of memorable games though. The series has been interrupted several times for a whole slew of reasons (even because it has become too heated amongst fans). The 2 largest Catholic schools in the State of Indiana, I repeat it is a shame..

That doesn't include the Sacred Heart and Chartrand years.  The Cathedral/Sacred Heart years were some of the most classic football in both school's history.  And there were stretches when the Irish was on the losing end for extended periods.

These were neck and neck programs 20 years ago. One took off and the other took their ball and went home at the first sign of adversity.

Every game since 20 years ago has been a blowout, can you blame them? You have to admit, for whatever reason, Cathedral is playing at a much higher level now than they were 20-30 years ago despite no change in enrollment. They were no better than Dwenger back then, now they're rumbling with the state's best. What changed?

Your not very good at looking through the scores prior to your commentary are you.

2004-2024 is 20 years

There have been a total of 9 blowouts over that 20 years.

Cathedrals enrollment grew faster than Roncalli’s. Roncalli has recently caught up. What happened. The North side deanery schools as a whole (multiple teams) have been stronger than the south deanery in football. Chatard and Cathedral have thrived from that. Roncalli has too for a couple years there.

Doesn’t Dwenger need to have a better record than 1-8 to be considered equal footing? Plenty of blowouts in there.
