SUPERSTAR. ( Bears please say hello ) To a player and Coach Freeman, loss week 2 galvanized this team, they are not in this same spot if thier 1 loss was to like USC or Texas AM or even Florida State to a certain extent. Coach Freeman was excellent on stage talking about that or maybe it was the on field afterwards.. When adversity hits, is when you see true growth , summarized.... Happy for my ND pals, can't say I am going to be actively ROOTING for them, but I can tip hat in respect for how htey are winning game.s I cringed last night. I hate Notre Dame. Hard not to like Freeman, Kiser and this team though. They're tough. Freeman as an NFL coach is starting to grow on me. He's a professional. Quote

Especially against the SEC. While hard root to against the Big 10, just can't get behind the mulletheaded demons from the state just to the east of us. 1 Quote

Irishman Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 The opening stop and drive by Ohio State in the opening series made it look like this was going to be a route. Ewers looked really bad early and seems to have settled down. I think a couple good hits on his running plays may have helped. He has had a couple really nice throws but has a few really bad ones too. He is playing better than Howard though. Both QB's have kept this game close. And of course as I am typing this, OSU scores on a screen and catches the Texas defense way out of position. Could be a critical play in the game for OSU as they had that score at the end of the half and receiving the opening kick of the 2nd half. 1 Quote

One of the worst big-moment officiating decisions I can think of in recent memory. Not even sure who made the call. Can't see a flag on either angle from the tv copy. It felt very much like a call made based on the outcome of the play. Way under thrown ball, receiver jumps early and away from the ball. 1 Quote
Irishman Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 I am sure Ohio State will be favored but I think Notre Dame matches up very well with them. 1 Quote
PHJIrish Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 It's kind of ironic that a late game QB turnover decided both semis. tOSU had to struggle to get this one. Hopefully there's no late game QB turnover by the Irish in the final. I didn't watch all of the game tonight but it seemed like Texas had a pretty good game plan. And I know the Irish will have a good one too. Going to bed early tonight. Quote

I just don’t understand shotgun from the 1 and then running a toss play another 2-3 yds deep. Especially against a team with the size and speed of OSU. Edited January 11, 2025 by Bash Riprock Quote
Bash Riprock Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 Looks like OSU are initially favored by 9.5 pts in the championship game Quote

No disagreement...I thought that was quite the spread. Not taking anything away from the Buckeyes last night, but thought Texas coaching did them in. 1) end of the first half - why in the world did the DC send the house with 20 some seconds left? No way was OSU going to throw the ball way downfield and risk a pick. They either run out the clock or set up a screen....which they did. Texas sent so many, the OSU lineman ran 20 yds down the field before they found someone to block...and its was nothing by secondary. Just ridiculous in that situation to sell out defensively. (IMO) 2) On the 1 yd line - lineup in the shotgun (never understand why the ball is hiked 4-5 yds deep taking away the advantage) and then run a toss sweep against a strong, super fast, excellent tackling team? No chance. Lose another 3 yards and now down at the 8 or 9. Just ridiculous...and we know what happened next. Texas gift wrapped 14 points for OSU.....and that was the difference in the game. I'm not saying Texas would have won and OSU looked stronger throughout the game. But who knows if they don't give up those 2 killer plays? 1 Quote

Texas would have been favored over ND by 3pts. They were 0-2 against Georgia, ND was 1-0. There's still a stigma with ND. If Alabama had ND's schedule and scores, they'd be a 1-3pt dog against the Buckeyes. Georgia sure as hell wouldn't be a 9pt underdog, and they lost handily to the Irish. Quote

The point spread announced by the gamblers has two functions: To attract the maximum amount of money bet on the game, and To have the wagers equal on both sides of the bet, so as to minimize the risk to “the house.” 1 Quote
