Well Ole Miss is the CFP, not the lower level scrub bowls. I doubt Ole Miss would back out of playing in that.

The CFP basically said "screw you" to the kids at Notre Dame. Notre Dame said "screw you" back. Can't hardly blame them.

You wishing that upon a kid after they just their heart ripped out of them is pretty telling. I wouldn't worry about these kids Temp. They go to Notre Dame. They've got the world at their fingertips.

Not going to look them all up, but Iowa State players absolutely had a voice. (According to the Des Moines Register) 

Teams in Big 12 are all being fined by their conference for boycotting bowls

Take the fine, and do what's best for the players.  It's patently obvious that those players who believe they could make the 'next level' would opt out anyway.

Join the Sun Belt and RUN THROUGH it.  Guaranteed, seeding in the CFP. Keep the NBC thang going with home games, perhaps get NBC in on the road games also??? 

Toss a couple of Million NBC $$ at the others and it's on with rest of the Conference.

The Miami/ND situation was one thing but Alabama was bumped up from 10th to 9th last week and ND from 9th to 10th for no reason other than to protect Bama prior to the Georgia game. Bama struggled to beat a very bad Auburn team while ND throttled Stanford. Yet Bama was moved up…why? It would’ve been very hard to explain reasoning for jumping ND if they lost, and impossible if they suffered a beat down(which they did). Had they had Bama and Miami ranked ahead all along nobody would be  questioning it, but fact is for every week of the CFP rankings ND was clearly in field…..until yesterday at noon.  Two bubble teams were pummeled and two didn’t play. One loser dropped, one loser didn’t, one non player jumped up and one non player suddenly dropped. Why?

Because the Tuesday night ranking shows are all for show and to get the talking heads going…when in actuality they mean nothing and the committee is going to do whatever they want in December anyway.

@23andCounting in 2024…the Northern Illinois loss was not disqualifying and ND deserves to be in the playoff!

 

@23andCounting in 2025…did you see?  Alabama lost to Florida State in week 1!

Please point out where I said it was OK for ISU and KSU to be opting out, I was just stating fact. I'm actually OK with ND opting out. I fully support your second point, AL loses and they jump ND, that's a hard one to explain. Most of the MSM is focusing on why the U is in and ND is out, where it should be why is Bama in and ND is out. I feel I know why, but will not pontificate on that one because someone may tell me to shut up 😀

One can easily argue that the committee should have never let ND pass Miami  in the first place and they fixed a wrong..albeit it was late.

The Bama thing...I get that one....Herbstreit in one comment indicated BYU should be held accountable for their beating in the conference championship and then later stated Bama should get a free pass for their bad showing.  This one smells bad and is wny I don't believe any conference should be affiliated with ESPN/ABC/Disney.  Without question I believe that to be a conflict of interest.
