FWIW, Whiteland lost to Columbus North by a score of 14-7, and North has just four starters back from last season, two starters each on offense and defense. So, FC should be a strong favorite to win that game. -

Cool. I like free beer. Also, great job by the Highlanders for getting the 3 team sweep over Gibson Southern. JV won in blowout fashion and our freshman team won 13-12. The program looks strong. I look for them to beat Whiteland next week and hopefully sweep the HHC again. -
Yes sir. If if I didn’t already have another engagement, I’d definitely attend that game.

Coach Lovell last night on the way home from the Carroll game. Usually, I pick that network up on 93.7 the FM station out of Decatur or Berne. I need that program to get me home each Friday night.

A repeat of last season's game. Like Yogi Berra once said, "It's deja vu all over again." -

LC was labeled a sleeper team in the Indy area going into the season. -

I think I’ve seen all I need to see boys, BNL wins the HHC by a long shot this year. I’d bet a couple cold ones on that -
Well NP is improved from last season but are probably still a season away from making noise in the post-season and getting back to where we typically are. I'd say 98% of the ball touches were sophomores and juniors and only 3-4 seniors impacting the game in non-skilled positions. Truth is, last year was going to be a down year regardless of coach so it's nice to see improvement. Defense, more specifically tackling and DB coverage is going to be a challenge this season. As far as the game goes it was a lot closer than the 34-21 final score indicates. it was back and forth all night and at one point 21-21 with 5:00 minutes left in the game with LaPorte facing a 4th&7 at the 50 yard line. They went for it and converted and that was the ball game, if they don't get that first down Cougars likely win the game as the offense was moving the ball all game long. For the second season in a row Reed Raymond from LaPorte basically won the game; that kid is a stud. Season outlook I'd have the cougars hovering around that 5-5 mark and being competitive in most every game outside of Penn & Elkhart. If the stars align we enter sectionals 6-3 and if the ball bounces away from us every chance it gets we limp in at 3-6. Laporte - Loss Northwood - Win (Getting shellacked by Columbia City turned this into a "W") St. Joe - coin flip Adams - Win Elkhart - Loss Riley - Win - competitive game Marian - Win Penn - Loss Washington - Win

I have found Tom O'Briens obituary: Thomas O'Brien Obituary - Indianapolis, IN

I was just notified Thursday night that long time Cathedral basketball coach and teacher Tom O'Brien has passed away at the age of 95. OB was a dear friend of everyone he met! He was a real asset to Cathedral High School through ou his life! One humorous story about OB, told to me by Irish coach Leo Mahoney. Both Leo and OB played football at Butler for Coach Tony Hinkle. During their early years they rode the bench for most of the season, but in a runaway game Coach Hinkle pointed at them both to enter the game. It was difficult for them as their helmets were full of popcorn! I will post an obituary later. RIP,OB!

I was taken aback by Lafayette Jeff and Silas Chatard a bit. Although I understand Catholic football and the better than average teams within it in our fair state, but wasn’t expected such a one-sided affair. -

Is Lawrence Central as good as some people have been saying? I know they smashed Jeffersonville but that’s not really a good barometer for knowing if LC is legit or not. -

Cathedral at Ben Davis
PHJIrish replied to PHJIrish's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I'm doing well! I wish the Giants the best going forward! It was a good night for both teams really. Both are quite young and there's going to be some penalties and turnovers early on. BD's young QB is going to be a great one! Cathedral Freshman 19, Ben Davis Freshman 14, final. I hope someone will post the JV score. -

Ugly but entertaining game. Penalties galore on both teams that will probably keep both coaches up all week. Ben Davis lead a time consuming, game winning drive after completely unraveling in the 2nd half after being in total command. Cathedral forced some 2nd half turnovers and came all the way back to tie it. QB play once again appears to be a concern for Cathedral. -

I said last year after watching him in the Regional ,that Carroll's Dual threat QB is the real deal. I'm sure he is better this year . I'm thinking Carroll is going to be a handful for anyone this year . -

New Pal's lines and overall team looked to be playing the toughest late into the 4th. There were times when SF's OL looked gassed. SF's speed at the skill positions also seemed to catch New Pal a little off gaurd. A lot of uncharacteristic missed tackles in the 1st half. Couldn't keep SF off the field on 3rd downs. SF's 1st TD drive went 17 plays. Enjoyable crew. Good humor. No homerism. Seemed like they did their research on SF. -
