  1. Perhaps they see it as an chance to provide more opportunities for their students and potentially increase enrollment as a result. The more schools that can offer football, the better. I hope it works out for them.

  2. The SBCSC is more worried about am empty building becoming a charter school than improving their overall program. The Democratic political machine got the tax money through on the back of a town where about 30% live under the poverty level. They lost over 400 more kids this year and who knows with next. They need 2 high schools and one trade/vocational/ career high school. but they won't do that. The school board seems to be a puppet to what the corporation wants.

  4. “Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

  6. CGA has a pretty good basketball team if I can recall. If they do go the football route they will have no problem attracting student-athletes from Johnson Country and the southside of Indy. DT says he doesn't care about this level of football, but it didn't stop him from starting a thread at the end of last year going all-in on Covenant Christian which CGA could easily become. This will be interesting to watch going forward.

  7. Played poker at Four Winds in South Bend on Sunday. The plexiglass barriers were removed, and masks were not mandatory anymore. Finally. 8 players per table plus the dealer......

  8. Technically, Mayor Pete had little to do with the school board and their problems. As you mentioned, those are elected positions. That said, one could argue that he had little to do with the private investment that happened in downtown while he was mayor also and he had no problem claiming that as his success, one of the few he can point to in my opinion. If I'm being totally fair to him, I don't think he's responsible for the failures of the school system. Crime is a different story. Credit where it is due though, he did get Brian Boitano to come to the grand opening of a $20 million dollar ice skating project he had built in a downtown park!

  9. Great size for a WR in any style of offense. Air Force runs that flexbone triple option so I can see that size being very attractive for blocking on the edge. Hope this young man continues to progress this summer and I'm sure offers will continue to roll in.

  10. In fairness to South Bend, consolidation at the high school level is a massive undertaking, often involving personnel, facility, transportation, and capital spending decisions. Pushing the athletic programs to a higher level, is the least of the concerns.

  11. https://www.cato.org/commentary/entitlement-spending-not-covid-19-stimulus-threatens-our-fiscal-future Agreed. Both of these federal entitlement programs needs to be drastically reduced or eliminated altogether. Frankly any individual <= the age of 50 is a fool to think that social security will be there for them when they retire. Again, the number of Americans over the age of 80 now exceeds the number of Americans under the age of 5. Think about that and what it means for the future of this country, for out children and grandchildren.

  12. Amtrak Wants $75 Billion To Create More Money-Losing Routes https://reason.com/2021/05/28/amtrak-wants-75-billion-to-create-more-money-losing-routes/ Where in the U.S. Constitution is a federally owned rail system an enumerated function of the federal government?
