  1. Must be first day on forum, welcome. That’s how these posts go. DT makes an outlandish statement, it’s get disproven, and we move on.

  2. College coaches don’t care what offense is being run. They check size, speed, skill, smarts, etc. if a kid can he can play. Doesn’t matter the offense. The coach who put this out there is ridiculous. High school coaches are limited to players, talent, and all sorts of other things depending on the size of the school. Be organized, know your philosophy, and get the kids to buy in. When you have to adjust because of a certain particular player then make that adjustment. Nothing else more to say about this crazy idiotic statement from a so called coach.

  4. I'll take the blame for that one! During our Regional game at Southwood I made the comment that I hoped a monsoon hit next week if we won (hoping LCC was going to win vs Pioneer). It was pretty nice until that nasty storm blew in. It went from seasonable and dry to monsoon and cold. I remember being numb as I was soaked through even with some rain gear and freezing cold. Still think about how a game vs LCC who passed a ton would have played out in those conditions.

  5. Apparently I should choose better sources for my information. You are correct. Shoulder pads and girdle are allowed. My apologies.

  7. Took 2nd in the 110 Meter Hurdles and won State in the Long Jump. Sounds like a solid athlete.

  8. Preparing players, scheme wise, for the next level is not a coach's job. Should colleges then change their offenses to help their players go to the NFL?

  9. I agree with your second paragraph, but the question now becomes, can they close the gap or was 2020 (four p/p champions out of six) the new normal? I think it’ll take more than a couple years worth of data to figure out if it was an anomaly or the new trend?

  10. I'm pretty confident padded practices are not allowed at this point. You might want to check that out before you say something on here that Coach Hurley might not appreciate.

  11. I think 5A should also be a full 64 team tournament. These schools have unlimited kids. All of the byes should be in 1A. Smaller rosters, more kids playing both ways, etc.

  12. What was he thinking? PU all the way.

  13. I do recall someone on here saying it would help get high school players more college football playing opportunities if high schools ran offenses that the state college football teams run. As a former HS coach, I say you run what best fits your players strengths. I agree with you. If you are good enough, colleges find you. And…..who exactly is this Coach Askew? Never heard of him.

  14. All I know is Jayden Brewer had pretty much the best reason I've ever heard to transfer. His mom could no longer transport him due to the increased workload with the pandemic, and the IHSAA gave him limited eligibility for basketball. So the kid has to sit half his senior year because the IHSAA (and Avon) held up that transfer...yet I hear about other transfers. I'm not going to dig into people's business, but it just makes you wonder why some transfers go through slick as a whistle and others don't.

  16. Fun fact - I threw a touchdown pass to his younger son when he started for us as a freshman at Tight End in the first round of sectionals (his first varsity touchdown), even though he was the starting QB on the freshman team that year. The next season he was varsity backup QB to the Bachelor, then was a two year varsity starter at QB. Heck of an athlete, great kid (and now young man). His older brother never played football for Warsaw, but played basketball in the Tiger Den.
