What comparison was made? If you say X had an effect on something happening and someone offers Y also had effect of that same thing, nothing about those statements imply X and Y are related at all nor do they make any type of comparison between X and Y besides the stated contribution to some outcome.

The rule says the pass must reach the neutral zone, not the LOS. The latter is marked by the foremost point of the football. The firmer is the space between the foremost point of the ball (the LOS) and the rearmost point of the ball. The ball can be up to 11-7/16” on its long axis. Thus the pass is legal if it reaches the rearmost point of the ball, which can be almost a foot short of the LOS. As they say, it’s a “game of inches.”

MIC = no confidence in themselves to compete with Carmel and CG. Biggest schools in Indy and it’s a disgrace for them not to have Carmel or CG in conference anymore. Let alone even playing them. Loser mindset. HCC = scared to bring in CG and Carmel. Afraid of wanting to push their programs to the top. I do realize this was not all of the schools and had other reasons aside from football because of other sports.

Majority of west coast ports are in one state, including the two largest in LA and Long Beach. Ports on the east coast are in multiple states. Not hard to understand why we always hear about how terrible the ports are on the west coast. There’s competition on the east coast and there’s not on the west coast. I’m sure that and the fact that the vast majority of Asian imports come thur west coast ports purely from logistics standpoint.

Yes we do. That's clearly what we are doing now, and it's not working. It takes a federal background check to enter the ports, most ports don't allow passengers, and breaking into one of the ports is 6 months in prison.

Come on now. One was a handful of idiot teenage kids, the other is a cultural/community issue that is life or death. Turn on the news. I have little faith in many modern administrators but if you think some idiot 15 year old kids’ whose balls have yet to drop dictated policy and future procedure/decision making for thousands of student athletes, you are more gone than I had originally thought. By no means excusing it, but not a valid comparison. Apples to oranges.

Jack Swarbrick has been quoted as saying there are three factors that could cause Notre Dame to change its stance as an independent: “The loss of a committed broadcast partner, the loss of a fair route into the postseason, or such an adverse financial consequence that you had to reconsider.” An expanded playoff model would, in all likelihood, enhance ND’s chances of being in the playoff, so that’s probably not going to be a factor. But the money may be just too big to pass up. Right now, ND’s contract with NBC doesn’t expire until 2025. It pays ND “only” $15 million a year. The B1G rights grant expires in 2023, and the bidding war is expected to net the league a $1 billion TV contract. B1G schools already get more TV money than ND (IU makes more TV money than the Irish. Wrap your head around that one.). With their new deal, B1G schools will make 2-3 times that much. And NBC is in the running for that contract, although ESPN is the frontrunner. Bottom line: ND is leaving millions on the table if they stay independent through the remainder of the NBC contract. Of course, it’s not that simple. The B1G may take the view that they are not going to share the pie equally with a “newcomer.” That’s what they did with Nebraska, and what they’ll probably do with USC and UCLA, although ND arguably would add significant value to the contract … especially if NBC gets the contract. Or, if NBC doesn’t get the B1G contract, they may sweeten ND’s deal to keep them independent, which would keep NBC relevant in the college football world. Right now, the Irish are being patient, and standing pat. The B1G has said they won’t expand any more for now (waiting on ND’s decision). The next domino to fall will be the outcome of the B1G TV contract negotiations. Once it’s done, the payday may be just too big to pass up.

I definitely forgot about Laville! I honestly don’t know enough about the schools outside of NJ, Pioneer and Triton, so take anything I say about the HNAC with a grain of salt.

Boy, a lot to process here. I do think Coach Moore's health will be the determining factor, but barring some major collapse, I don't see Simmons or Hebert as in trouble. The "new gen" admins...what a joke. John Clark had been at Ben Davis for 49 years when he retired in June and had been assistant AD or AD for appoximately 20. The BD principal has been here longer than me as a teacher and admin. What happened was that Center Grove and Carmel made it clear that they had applied for membership in the HCC in December. This was after several denials. Then, they got voted out. They were on the way out. The rest of the MIC said, here's the door. This idea that some "new gen" admins were at work here is silly. They left the MIC because they wanted to leave the MIC for other opportunities, but, as it turned out, the HCC said no.

I’m a strong believer in the benefits of being in a conference where every week you play a good team, but in my opinion, I think them getting booted from the HCC was the best thing that could have happened to them. Jeff, Harrison and McCutcheon were getting smoked by HCC teams on the regular. I think Jeff upset Avon in 2013 and McCutcheon beat Zionsville in 2014, but those might have been the only wins any Lafayette schools had against HCC schools since at least 2010. That’s about a 2-82 record against HCC schools between Jeff, Harrison and McCutcheon if my math is right. Getting back to my point, the Lafayette trio rejoined the NCC beginning at the 2015 season. Jeff then beat both Westfield in 2017 and Noblesville in 2018 sectional games. Both of those games were followed by (debatably respectable considering all things) losses to Carmel 41-20 and 41-21. Harrison hasn’t broken through by beating an HCC team yet, but they have put up decent efforts against Westfield and Zionsville in recent years. Also, if these teams never get booted, maybe Shanley never comes to Jeff and Peebles ditches for a school with greener pastures. Then these 2 programs would likely not be in nearly as good of a position as they are in now. You’re 100% correct when saying that this move boosted participation and definitely boosted morale within the programs. Both these teams have much more manageable sectionals, Jeff should be the favorite in theirs and Harrison should be the 2nd best team in theirs behind Decatur Central.
