It’s that time of the season again. The Catholic battle to see who’s been to church more this past year. I don’t like MD in a battle of the mascots, but i think they win by a TD or 2. Normally I will root for my Catholic brethren, but not this week. This week they are cake eaters once again. The only good things the east side of Evansville has ever produced are putt putt golf n games and lake sports and they managed to kill both of them off. They need to stick to soccer and eating grey poupon, and leave the real man sports to us ski lovin/God fearing westsiders

RP and FC was a great game. I think both teams played well and neither team has reached their true potential yet. Both will be much improved by the time playoffs start.

Can't speak of the south, but after last night, here is where I see the north:. Tier 1: Carmel, HSE Tier 2: Penn, Fishers, and Carroll Tier 3: Westfield, Elkhart, Crown Point Tier 4: Jefferson, Warsaw, Noblesville, Zionsville, Homestead

Carmel @ Pike: Hounds coming off a big out of state victory and easily the best two loss team in Indiana. Pike, searching for answers after getting throttled by west side rival BD last week. Hounds roll 37-13. Center Grove @ Ben Davis: Game of the night as CG coming off a loss for the first time in 2+ years. Ben Davis looking poised after rolling Avon/Pike in consecutive weeks. Think CG’s mindset and leadership gets it done in a close one. 28-23 Trojans Lawrence Central @ Warren Central: Predicting a low scoring affair here as the gauntlet for both teams continues. I could really see this one going either way. Big rivalry win last week for the Bears, while Warren won a sloppy one over a poor NC team. Warren eeks one out here 20-14. North Central @ Lawrence North: The good news? NC scored some points last week. The bad news? Their D has been a screen door. LN will be hungry after a rivalry loss and NC will provide enough medicine for the Cats to feel good Friday night. LN wins 23-7.

Did ESPN really refer to Friday night's games as Friday Night Lights? It's bad enough that they are even playing on Friday nights, therefore competing with high schools for attendance. Now referring to their games as Friday Night Lights? It's one thing for the NCAA to be greedy, but not at the expense of high school football.

HM (#26)

Until proven otherwise... Westfield is the TOP TIER team in the North. They were our representative last season, and they are formidable this year also. Having said that.... I have seen Carroll (up front and personal) and believe that they are closing the gap on the Indy Area. But Sectional #2 is a hell of a Sectional to navigate, and let's talk when the Sectional Finals are decided.

Looks like a much better slate of games this week. Only 1 coin toss from last week. This week I see 4 good games or at least possible disagreements amongst picks. 1st we have the 2 PLAC match ups. Paoli returns home after a sloppy but effective week 3 win over county rival Springs Valley to face unbeaten Perry Central. PC opponents have a combined 2-7 record. Im not sure how good Tell City but they appear to have been there best opp. Rival and a 1 point victory. Paoli is probably better tested and that will continue this week. Im leaning paoli early for my pick ems. 2nd is West Washington's first road game and test of the year heading to Springs Valley. Valley will be ready to get back on track this week and WW will need to be ready. Our common foe is Mitchell and looked nearly even against them (I attended both Mitchell games). WW will have to not turn the ball over and need better pass D this week. Should be a very tight game. Sargain has this as 194 (WW) vs 197 (SV). They are 17th and 18th in 1A. Game of the week is battle of 3-0 conference foes from MSC in Charlestown and North Harrison. They do not have a common foe but most would argue Charlestown has had tougher schedule. Maybe a MSC guy can shed more light on this. Winner would have a pretty tight grip on conference title. Then lastly we have Crawford and South Decatur. Sagarin has this 295 (SD) vs 313 (CC). Crawford has yet to score this year. SD has played the best opp in North Decatur. Both seem bad and maybe Crawford gets some confidence in this game. Let's hope so. Looking forward to the game this week. Everyone but me pick wrong this week!!

Probably a combination of Fishers slim win over Pike and HSE living up to their preseason hype after three games. Not sure if you caught it, but in my original post in the 5a thread I had HSE in Tier 2 with Fishers. I'll defer to the Indy guys on this one.

Nothing that the Lancers won't handle easily. LaVille is currently ranked 24th in this week's Sagarin rankings. That's 24 overall! And #1 in 2A. They've beaten three pretty decent teams very handely. Bremen's win over Marian was a big boost to LaVille's ranking I'm sure. They wont stay that high even if they keep winning, but it's pretty cool to see them that high right now. How high did Pioneer make it back in 2018? Seems like they were in the top 25, but I don't remember for sure.

An eleven point loss on the home field of the #2 team in the country and a recruiting class that's currently ranked #1 coming in next year? Yeah, what a sad state of affairs they are in right now.

As someone who was rooting for a meteor last night and who also understands Notre Dame doesn’t pride itself on moral victories, I thought the Irish’s game plan was nearly flawless and their effort was admirable. D was too gassed in the second half because the offense couldn’t stay on the field. Irish are still a 10/11 win team.

This has long been a contention of mine. Colleges have six days to play games. WHY DO THEY PLAY ON FRIDAY NIGHTS? When Louisville was basically transitioning from a mid-major to a National player, they utilized these week night games to add looks and to bring in cash. I worked two games in the area during these Friday night games and the local high schools take a HUGE hit. HS have four maybe five nights a year to make their nut, and colleges taking one of those nights away is inexcusable in my opinion. I’ve spent the last 40 years of my life trying to help/give back/grow, however you want to say it to this game that means so much to so many, only to watch the colleges trample on it. Colleges and universities, Disney, Fox, ABC, etc, Friday nights should be off limits! I’ll go one step further, I refuse to watch or listen any college games on Friday night. I realize it’s of no consequence to anyone, but given the current state of affairs, I think it’s time to take a stand. HS Football is TOO IMPORTANT.

Rb4 made an appearance last night..they finally were who we thought they could be..if that team shows up every week it could pay dividends.. Defense being able to keep them scoreless may give the secondary some confidence
