It has been since 2010 since Penn has played BD yearly. Idc if we got walked, won or lost close. BD was always the game on our schedule. Also, the respect between the two programs, sharing meals after the game was an awesome sign of respect. I loved that rivalry....well it was lopsided but still a Rivalry to us.

I think Penn needs to have Mishawaka on their schedule. It is good for our area. What threw me into a frenzy, is the fact that we (the school) are so worried about hurting conference schools feelings that we are sacrificing our competitiveness in the 6A tourney for a conference championship. I would rather have Mishawaka on the schedule and send the JV to play most of our conference schedule. That gives us 3 or 4 games we could play Carmel and other 6A schools. But, we care more about feelings than we do about winning.

Elkhart has named Coach Curry the Defensive Coordinator this past season their new head coach. Coach Curry is a Elkhart Grad.

Lipscomb was ranked #23 when they met, but that ranking was not good as they struggled against a very tough schedule. St. Joseph Prep was ranked #11 when they played them. It ended up being Prep's only loss of the year. They finished #8 in my final poll. Glenville was unranked at the time they played but ended up winning the Ohio Division 4 title. Bartram Trail and Pine Forest are two Florida teams that were a little down this season. Gray Collegiate Academy is a small South Carolina team that has established itself in that state as a perpetual powerhouse. St. Thomas More is an unknown. St. Francis Academy was ranked #6 in the preseason poll, but after a schedule that would have challenged most college teams, they ended up ranked #92 with six losses.

I think genetics can play a part in generational teams but I don’t think it matters in teams being consistently good. There are other factors that determine that: work, effort, commitment, belief, motivation, camaraderie, coaching, money, strong youth programs feeding into high school, tenured coaches, retaining of talent, etc. Jennings County has a bigger student population than New Palestine and, until recently, was bigger than East Central. Those schools are not the only schools in their county or area like Jennings County is. It’s easy for kids in their district to transfer elsewhere due to the proximities of other schools. However, those schools are much better than Jennings County due to some of the factors I mentioned. I can’t speak for Madison but Jennings County absolutely has the talent to be consistently good in sports. One of the big problems is getting coaches to be committed to stick around. There’s been so much turnover that it’s hard to get things going. Kendall Wildey (boys basketball/softball), Jim Harr (wrestling), and Howard Jones (wrestling) are some of the guys that have built great success because they were great coaches and stuck around for awhile. Hopefully other coaches like Kristi Sigler (girls basketball) can follow suit. Because of politics, coaching turnover, or a lack of faith in the system, some of Jennings County’s great athletes have transferred out over the years to play sports at schools like Columbus East, Columbus North, Greensburg, South Decatur, Seymour, Brownstown Central, and even as far away as New Castle. If they could’ve retained these kids then maybe things wouldn’t have turned out as bleak as they did. Nevertheless, Jennings County brought in a great AD a few years ago and he has made great efforts to try and change the culture at the school. He’s committed to winning and he’s been bringing in coaches that he feels are committed to winning as well. The problem is trying to keep them from leaving and that is easier said than done, especially considering Jennings County doesn’t have the money to compete with some other schools.

Outside of East Central.... who are you talking about? Jennings County can compete just fine in football. They wouldn't have been blown out once this year had they been healthy, by no means am I saying they would have won every game... I don't think that, but significant injuries for them this season.

Hobart seems like a place where they probably have several solid assistants loaded up and ready to go for this opportunity. Years upon Years of consistency doesn't just happen without multiple coaches that really know what they are doing.

In recent years, enrollment data has been released around this time of the year - roughly mid-December. I’ve checked almost daily for the last week or so and there hasn’t been any data for this year released. Count day was moved back to the start of October instead of mid-September, so it could come out a little later. I’ll be glad to put something together once they are released, but I’m always interested in having others take a look at it to see if there are any details I missed or errors.

Craig Osika is both the Head Football Coach and school Principle. It’s very hard to do both. This is not a surprise to anyone as this has been rumored for a couple of years now. He did a great job as HC.

Hey…I knew what “manga” was although the kids and I some years back were much more into “anime”….especially the “mecha” and “cyberpunk” stuff. “Ghost in the Shell” (anime version) is simply incredible….arguably one of the top 10 Sci-Fi films over the last 50 years. But hey, time for me to get back to my Gene Tracy and Redd Foxx 8 track tapes…right after I install that new carburetor on the Buick.
