  1. If "sports" is ever divorced from the schools...the kids that need sports the most, will have very little access to it.

  3. Interesting fact for 2026: 26 of ND’s 27 NIL signees are early enrollment. This means they’ll be here for the off season program and Spring ball.

  4. How can they get it right with Tulane in the playoff in your scenario? They aren’t a top 30 much less a top 12 team

  6. You have a much higher opinion of Kelly than I do. I think he is buffoon. Guy mailed it in at LSU and was roundly criticized for his lack of effort while there. Temp and his supposed “connections” will have you believe that he hasn’t been contacted. He is hanging his hat on DeBoer and Dillingham, neither of which I believe will be going there. He mentions a 3rd person, which he has been unwilling to share to this point, as willing to take the job. Maybe Fisch from Washington?

  8. They would have been this year's champions, but the SEC is afraid. A couple of injuries from winning last year. And probably the front runner in 2026. Notre Dame fans are happy with recent results on the field, that's all that matters.

  9. Me And I laugh at "my other fav teams". Miss me with that nonsense I can respect Coach Cig and his profession and how he goes about it. Doesn't mean I want them to win ...... ND and IU fans. Reversible Jackets never fail

  10. A program that paints itself as a victim and runs from competition. Hell, I’d argue the Wolverines have every reason NOT to play in their bowl game and not one player has opted out as of now…

  11. Enlighten us. What have they become? Just looking for reasons to bring them down to your Wolverine's level? You are relentless, I'll give you that.

  12. Notre Dame is above any of those silly bowls they would have been invited to. You call it quitting, I call it a simple "no thank you, not wasting our time on anyone not named Ohio State or Indiana." There's a 60% chance you're right. We'll see.

  16. Back them, there were way more independents...those 2, Syracuse, Pitt, West Virginia, BC, Army, Navy, BYU, Cincy, Florida State, Miami, Rutgers, etc.

  17. Back when they were both (technically) independents! Better times with more independents.

  18. Temp you contradict yourself daily . He said he became a fan during Paterno years before the Sandusky scandal . Once he became a fan he was not happy with what happened but is still a fan . Look at YOU , you know your Wolverines cheated their way to a Natty and you still stand by them .

  19. Penn State is my 3rd favorite program. Besides IU, have seen a few games in both South Bend and Happy Valley. Have this famous print of Rick Mirer and Reggie Brooks looking into the Penn State Defense in my basement. Loved the old rivalry these teams used to have years ago

  21. A couple of years ago, following a FB thread, one person was surmising on how to get business leaders from a community to pay parents of promising athletes to move to town to bolster their football and basketball teams (this particular school hasn't had a ton of tournament success in either, but has a really intense fanbase). Honestly, that's been happening in some communities for decades (it was very common for a promising young kid at a rural school just happen to see his dad get a really good job in the county seat, and a connection with a real estate agent to get a good deal on a house), but it's going to be more out in the open.

  22. Your "two year flash in the pan" was a comparison to another school, correct? Or you just chose to select a 2 year time "out of the air"? If the latter, sorry about your confusion.

  23. This is something that deserves more analysis than I can give it. The issue is, while the IHSAA is a membership organization for purposes of its relationship with the schools, a number of court decisions determined it to be a quasi-governmental entity when it comes to dealing with individual student athletes over eligibility matters. That muddies the waters quite a bit. Courts have determined that college student athletes have a constitutional right to be compensated for the commercial use of their name, image and likeness, even though the NCAA is a “member organization.” Not sure that it would be any different for a high school student athlete.

  25. The Harrison/McCutcheon problem? Easy, split the two high schools into four. Now you have four schools with enrollment of approx. 900-1000 students which opens up more flexibility for closer conference affiliations with other high schools that are closer in enrollment.

  28. And Notre Dame is better this year, lol. I've been saying for the last seven weeks. NO ONE wants to play Notre Dame right now. With the injury to IU's D lineman, I've got Notre Dame and Ohio State in a deadlock as the favorite to win the whole thing.............that's if Notre Dame didn't get bamboozled.

  31. Call me an optimist but athletics will never leave high school. In fact it could go full circle meaning an increase in multisport athletes. The elites may play in club, get paid nil, and play for IMG like schools but the majority of kids will not. This will open up opportunities for those in high school to participate in multiple sports and enjoy it. Kind of the way it was when I was in high school. Will the overall quality decline? Likely but who really cares if you enjoy athletics and competition.

  32. Yeah, but didn't ND go all the way to the championship last year? Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought they they ran the table after falling asleep against the worst team on their schedule and beat Georgia and Penn State in the playoff. Help me out here. Maybe my memory is failing me.

  33. If you've been paying attention, you'd know that Notre Dame isn't in the playoff because the SEC is in bed with ESPN. There are five teams from that conference and and Notre Dame would be favored against all of them with the exception of, possibly, Georgia. What Alabama wants, Alabama gets. Miami? Deserving. As Nick Saban said. Something needs to change and Notre Dame is easily one of the Top 12 teams in the country. Those who really know football are livid that schools like James Madison and Tulane are in, while a program like Notre Dame, even Texas, is left out. But it's really not even about that. The CFPS strung the Irish players along for weeks, only to pull the rug out from underneath them in favor of a lessor program..........Alabama. Look, I know you hate the Irish, but the kids at IU are not different that the kids at Notre Dame. What happened to them was just plain wrong.

  36. It happens more than you realize. Many years ago, our school had a volleyball coach who threatened to cut kids from the volleyball team if they played basketball, because basketball season conflicted with club volleyball season. She never followed through, but got a couple of kids (who would've helped our basketball team) to quit basketball and specialize. Our two-sport athletes would hide in the locker room until she left before going to basketball open gyms.
